I love my shapewear and I have to say I wear them more days than not, it helps my mind notice the changes because the hanging skin makes me feel like I haven't made progress, the shapewear helps me see the new shape of my body. The compliments from others on my shape keep me motivated to continue down my path as well.

how do i get re-motivated and back on track???
AKgirl replied to dontgoggilme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I got on the site today to get remotivated and I can't express how great it is to always find what I'm looking for. I have lost 70lbs with 20 more to go and have totally fallen off the wagon. I eat like a college student and don't drink water and have neglected the gym. After the last bit of weight I lost everyone was comlimenting me and responding to me differently and I think I got lazy. I am trying to re gain some focus so thank you thank you for this post -
Just got a blendtech, awsome blender, does anybody have any suggestions for good protien shake recipes. Thanks

I have never had an issure with raisins but the flakes in the cereal are killer, they have never gone down well for me. Everyone is different, you just have to try foods and see how it works. My surgeon always said never try a new food in public. Good luck

Not feeling right after stomach bug
AKgirl replied to jenjaw's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nurse practitioner who has a band herself said that vomiting can cause enough swelling that it can almost feel like a slip, she said unfill, let the swelling go down and then refill. The heartburn is so common when the band is too tight, I get it every month with PMS (water retention). Good luck, my NP also keeps a script on hand for me of anti nausea meds so I always have them at my disposal if I get a bug. -
You are not alone, I have to say this type of behavior has crossed my mind but like you I work in a hospital 12 hour shifts and when I only eat 500 cal/day I am so tired and I get sick all the time. This is just another part of our journey, getting control of our control issues. It is just as important to fix what we think as it is to fix what we eat. Good Luck and you have plenty of support here.

hi, congrats on your new life! I always have protein shakes on hand because some days the band feels tighter than others like the few days before your period it's hard to eat anyting. Shakes are good for these days. Veggies that are good when they are steamed within an inch of there lives are good, you can get them really soft and almost mushy (broccoli, edamame, califlower, squash etc). Potatoes are good in moderation, oatmeal ( you can make it as liquid as you need to depending on your tightness. Proteins that are good, try meat that has been tenderized, I bought a meat smasher and it help break up the meat so it's easier to chew into smaller bites. Hope this helps

you have to keep in mind that the pregnancy is not permanent. Right now, your priority has to be the baby. There will be a time when you can focus on your weight loss again. I am 26 weeks pregnant and got unfilled at the beginning of pregnancy and I still feel tightness in my band as the baby gets bigger. I have gained 21 pounds so far and yes I am freaking out but I know that once the baby is born and I get refilled, I get my butt back in gear and have the rest of my life to lose the weight. Hope this helps.

all i can tell you is my experience with healthnet. my BMI was 43 when i went for my consult, I had done jenny craig so i had copies but that's all I had. I was approved within a week of completing my preop test. 100% coverage and now I am three months out and have had 100% coverage of my fills also. hope this helps. Good Luck!

2nd week banded not sure if I feel full
AKgirl replied to lisafitz's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a light bulb moment about a month after my surgery. the only full i knew was the completely satisfied full like I couldn't eat anymore. Now I know full is when you are no longer hungry, not when you feel the heaviness in your stomach, you aren't going to feel that anymore so listen to your body and it will tell you when you are not hungry, not necessarily when you are full. -
HELP!Antidepressants,do I have to stop pre-op?
AKgirl replied to noosagirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took my meds through the whole process and my doc even said that i may need to increase in order to effectively deal with the new changes in my life. You should never have to stop your antidepressants for a surgery, they do not increase your risk for bleeding or blood clots. -
okay so you have officially entered band hell! I was banded on may 27th and before you get to your first fill but after the swelling goes down, you have 0 restriction and a very healthy appetite. Rest assured everything comes back it perspective and it's easy to get back on track after your fill. We are only at the beginning of this journey and we have to stop the habit of beating ourselves up like we used to. you are doing great by making this life changing decision and you will make it. there are going to be ups and downs, we are all going through them together.

hello everyone, i don't post very often but this thread is just up my alley. I was banded on May 27th and i am getting my first fill on wednesday (5 weeks post op). I have only lost 7 pounds since surgery an am finding myself falling back into old habits without any restriction. I have been so frustrated lately, hoping the fill will get me back on track

Looking for other San Diegains...
AKgirl replied to soontobehottie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Good luck Krissyjean. Dr. Horgan seems very proactive, I work at ucsd so I hear alot about hima nd a friend was banded by him. My insurance sent me to Dr. Callery at pomerado and he is wonderful too. -
I was told the shoulder pain is due to the CO2 they use to inflate your stomach during surgery and it slowly diffuses throughout to be eliminated, pain refers up so we feel it in shoulders, my left was the worst for about two weeks. Another reason my doc said I could have shoulder pain was because they mess with your diaphragm during surgery and again painrefers up. hope this helps, the pain does go away.
