Hi Goodbody, I had Surgery 8/13 too. My first fill I was losing at a good rate so we decided not to do a fill. In Oct. when I went for my fill they had a hard time accessing my port they had to try several times and thought they finally got it in. When I want for my next appt. Nov. my Dr. went to draw out the Fluid and there was none there. They had missed the first time, so they put 4 cc's in. In Dec. when I went for my fill he thought I was losing at a really good rate so we decided to hold off on a fill again. Now I am anxiously waiting for my fill Jan 16th.

tlcrodz, The St. ray group seems pretty strict. I don't think they will allow "outsiders". I will ask though. I am wondering if anyone would like to get together for a more casual gathering.

Does anyone have a personal trainer? Please tell me about it. How often do you meet with your trainer? What do you do? Approx. how much does it cost? What was your fitness level before the trainer? Any suggestions for questions to ask a potential personal trainer? I have some concerns that maybe some of you can help me with. 1. I am not fit at all. I see shows like the biggest loser and I am terrified by what I see. Do they start out slow and let you build up gradually? 2. I am having alot of trouble with my hips lately and my back. Can this be worked around? 3. I am really good at avoiding and not acknowledging things I don't like. I fear that if a trainer is too tough on me or talks to me the way they do on the biggest loser I will just quit. Have any of you dealt with this? What did you do? Can I convey this to my trainer? Can anyone reccomend a trainer?

Either or. I think making it affordable will help more people attend. I would love to attend this. I was jealous when I read about the one in Texas because, I knew there was no way I could go to that. Count me in!!! -
First patients to have Realize...let's hear from you!
htaylor1021 replied to 2BtinyinTN's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, I was banded 8/13/08. I have lost 30 lbs since surgery. I had 1 fill 9/12/08 of 4cc's. I went in on Fri 10/17/08 but we decided to hold off on this fill because I have lost 12lbs in 4 weeks, and although I get hungry at times it is not unmanageable. I had a really easy recovery and only took my pain meds twice. I was back to work 4 days after surgery. I credit that more to my surgeon than the type of band. As far as the web site I am really not all that impressed. I find that I prefer sparkpeople.com for keeping my food/exercise log. It is easier to use and has a larger selection. I also get weird messages from it sometimes, like I got an email telling me I haven't logged on in over a month when I just entered my weight 2 days ago. A few weeks ago when I logged on the message it greeted me with was "your weight seems to have reached a plateau. Consider consulting with your physician." mind you I have lost 30lbs in 2 months. I DON'T consider that a plateau:lol:! I do like the area where it shows what you can look like at different weights. I also like keeping track of my measurments and not just my weight. Overall I would say it is an OK website but there is a lot of room for improvement. The regular Lap-band is getting its own website now. I would say don't let the website be a deciding factor for you. I got the Realize band because I know my surgeon very well and this is what he recommended. -
Friday Weigh In Oct. 17, 2008
htaylor1021 replied to mdhomeschool's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Last week 240 this week 236.5 -3.5lbs I had an appt for a fill on Friday 10/17 but I had lost 12lbs in 4weeks so we decided to hold off. I hope that wasn't a mistake. -
Hi Guys I was banded 8/13/08 also. Mesha according to your stats you have lost 36 pounds since surgery. That is fantastic. Do a happy dance you are doing better than average. I know sometimes it is hard to look objectively at our own weight loss because we want it all gone NOW. The goal is to lose 1-2 lbs per week. It has been 9.5 weeks since surgery so the goal is to be at 9.5-19lbs lost so you are right on target.

Since surgery I have lost 29 pounds. I will be going to see Dr Yood on 10/17 for a fill but, I am debating whether or not I need one. I am losing at a good rate but, I am hungry 2 hours after I eat. So, I will talk to him and see what he recommends. I will be at the November meeting. Did u have to do the 6 months with Dianne & Chris? My last one was in May, maybe we met there. -

Hi Alex, I deleted the browser history, the temporary internet files, and the cookies. I am still getting the same message. I have IE7 and I am running vista. -
I can't open the Before and After Lap Band Surgery - PICTURES ONLY and in food and nutrition I can't open Share ideas, What did you eat today ? I notice that both of these have over 1,000 posts I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Is anyone else having this problem. Is there anything I can do about this?

Did anybody else's cycle go way out of whack post op? I had surgery 8/13/03 spotted off and on till period 8/22 then fine for a week then spotting until yesterday and now I am having one of the heaviest periods I have ever had. I hate to be one of those people who think everything is related to the band but I am wondering if this might have to do with the stress of surgery or losing weight fast. I am debating calling the gyno but to be honest I will avoid doing that for as long as I can.

Surgery is tomorrow... Im starting to get scared...
htaylor1021 replied to h@rt*s mommy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Good Luck with your surgery today. I had my surgery on 8/13/08 I was home by 4pm that day. Honestly my surgery and recovery were very uneventful. I had VERY little pain at all. I was able to get up and around without any difficulty. That being said everybody is different. If you are in pain take your meds and remember that it is easier to treat mild pain then severe. So don't try to tough it out. Take your meds when you need them. Walk, Walk, Walk and then Walk some more. A heating pad can help when you are achy. And Drink, Drink, Drink. My thoughts and prayers are with you today. Chin up, your new life begins today! -
Hi Everyone, As to the scale bouncing around, it is normal for there to be a 1-2 pound difference day to day. This is Water weight and it can relate to the amount of sodium the day before (retain fluids), exercise (loss of fluids), hormones (retain or loss of fluid), etc. It is better to weigh yourself only once a week and follow the general trend. I know myself that I can't weigh just once a week but I only count Wed morning as my "official" weight. The rest of the time I realize when I get on the scale that there may be a 1-2 difference and I am OK with that as long as my general trend is down. As for how long it should take to eat, physiologically your stomach begins to empty at around 20-25 mins. If it is taking you longer to eat than 20/25 minustes you are just adding more food on top of what has already begun to emptiy. 10 minutes is also a little quick though. You should always follow YOUR doctors instructions but realize how your body works. Amy, I was banded 8/13/08 also. I can't wait until Wed to go back to a regular diet.
