  1. Hello All, I had my RNY on 8/4 and lost almost 25 lbs in two weeks. At week 3 my weight loss stalled and I keep gaining and losing the same 5 lbs. from 175-180. I’m only 5ft 4 so this is way too soon for this! I eat about 600 calories a day, hitting the 50-60grams in protein and usually 50 carbs or so. I’m not cleared for exercise but in all honestly I’ve been lazy and tired so no exercise. Where could I be going wrong?!
  2. I’m not doing quite as well as you, but I’m able to drink water and thin liquids pretty readily also and I’m able to eat about 1/2 a cup. l’m still on purées and not trying anything outside of that but I have been wondering if I am abnormal.

    Water

I have no good advice because I am also struggling, but I wanted to say I feel your pain and I hope you get some great advice!
  4. I had some mild diarrhea and GI distress in my pre-op diet including whey protein, but street surgery the whey protein and whey protein isolate absolutely killed me; super painful diarrhea. I started using plant based and I feel much better. My questions are, one, can anyone recommend a whey alternative that isn’t gross? Two, is there anyone who can tolerate Genepro but not other whey protein? I’ve heard so many people rave about the Genepro in terms of taste, digestion and how readily it dissolves but I don’t want to buy it if it’s just going to make me sick!
  5. I am a week out from my roux en y and altogether I’ve made a lot of improvement in those 7 days- my incisions look good, mobility better, everyday I get more water and protein in. BUT I still have a pretty sharp pain in my left shoulder and sort of towards the left side of my stomach- this happens especially when I drink any protein. It feels like it’s moving like gas and my pulse is normal along with my temperature, but the pain in my shoulder is scaring the crap out of me. It also hurts inside me every time I take in any protein. Is this normal?
  6. Yes- I’m 8 days lost op and this is where all of my pain has been in addition to feeling some pain in my left shoulder.
  7. Hello- I am 8 days out from surgery and still on liquids and can barely fit them in. I have a week yet before I try purées but right now I feel like I can’t fit enough food in my body to sustain life without pain. Definitely hoping that doesn’t last! Lol! I hope you get the answers you’re looking for or that your tummy heals up so you can get a bit more food in you.
  8. I am having a similar issue with my Zoloft. I try to take it with food but at this point I’m only a week out from surgery so I can’t fit much in. Can’t decide whether to taper off the med or try to figure it out.

    Guilt

Honestly I don’t believe you owe anyone an explanation and if you choose to keep it simple, that’s your prerogative. If you choose to explain, that’s your choice too.
  10. Yes they told me that they pumped the gas in and that walking would help get that gas out. I am still using gas x to help with gas in the intestinal tract. The sensation in the left shoulder is just so sharp and weird but it sounds like this gas issue effects everyone.
