    July 2020 Surgery anyone?

I am walking, which is what I plan to be my main aerobic activity. I'm adding some strength training too with resistance bands. I started out so heavy fur my height (393 at 5'3") that I couldn't walk much at all but now I can do a half hour at a pace that gets my heart rate up. I am working up to an hour. I will probably add other types of exercise in the future but for now it's walking, which I enjoy. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Does hunger come back?

I just realized you might have been asking how I was going to prevent being able to eat more in the future from happening. The answer to that is I can't. I was referring to preventing myself from overeating in the future. I am determined not to let myself slip back into old habits. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Does hunger come back?

Hunger comes back at different times for everyone. Most of the time it seems like it's way longer than 2 months. It's manageable. I haven't had a terrible time with head hunger, but I do have actual physical hunger that lets me know when it's time to eat. I had hoped I wouldn't feel hungry at all, but oh well. I'm doing fine and managing it, and it's not horrible. I have to learn to eat like a normal person anyway, whether I'm hungry or not. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. My starting weight was 393. I'm 5'3", so my bmi was 69. I was 368 the day of surgery, July 23, 2020. I am 325 now! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Does hunger come back?

Sumnerset, I finally that video to work, and would you believe I actually watched it last night? What a coincidence. Thanks for sharing it! I am eating, and plan to continue eating, like Dr. Weiner prescribes. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

Also, I couldn't get the YouTube link to work but if that's Matthew Wiener I have watched a ton of his videos. He's great! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Does hunger come back?

I've prepared mentally for this for a long time. I'm very determined to be healthy and I feel like the habits I'm forming will set me up for future success. I'm definitely measuring and tracking my food and not eating more than I should. I can only take it one day at a time and do the best I can each day. I came to this forum to get advice and see what successful people have done to stay on track. I feel prepared, just nervous too because I'm a worrier. 8. I started out with Celebrate Chewables high ADEK (I had the LOOP DS), Bariatric Fusion calcium (caramel), vitamin B1 sublingual, and Bariatric Fusion cherry flavored iron chews. I didn't mind the Celebrate chewable, but the iron and the calcium tasted awful to me. My surgeon recommended Procare Bariatric vitamins. They're just one a day and they have everything I need in one capsule, except for calcium, which I now take Citracal tablets. So I only have to take the Procare and Citracal now. It's so much easier! I just had my first labs drawn today, so hopefully the results are good. I highly recommend Procare. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Walking shoes recommendations

I came here to recommend Ryka, but I see that's what you got. I LOVE Ryka. I have the Skywalk walking shoes. I basically have duck feet. The front of my foot is wide and my heels are narrow, and tennis shoes always slide off my heel. Rykas fit me perfectly and never slip off my heel and they are SO comfortable. I have other Ryka shoes besides the Skywalks and love them all! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  10. I quit smoking in 1999. My surgeon does a nicotine test on everyone. It was part of my blood work. Nicotine really interferes with healing. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. Aquaphor or lip balm. I've made my husband, mom, and BFF swear they will put it on me if I'm ever in a coma. I can't live without it! [emoji23] Otherwise, i didn't need much. I brought a bunch of stuff but I had a lot of nausea and some vomiting the first couple days and slept a lot. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

  13. Oops. I just realized this was a question about gastric bypass. I had a Loop DS. Sorry! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  14. I was told to limit carbs, especially the refined ones, and only have 15 grams of carbs per meal and snack, and always paired with protein. They didn't give me a daily total, but I usually keep it under 50. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Allergy meds Post Op?

I'm on several different allergy meds for allergies and chronic hives, and I was able to take them all after surgery. I was allowed to take pills that would fit in a medium straw, and most allergy pills are very small, but almost all of them come in liquid and chewable form also. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  16. I also used Protein20. I didn't really like them, but it was better than the shakes. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  17. I didn't mind the Premier shakes before surgery, but after, I couldn't stomach them. They tasted disgusting. I talked to the dietitian and he suggested collagen peptides and you can mix them in just about anything. I bought the brand Vital Proteins. That helped get me through. I also mixed the protein shakes with decaf coffee, which made them taste a lot less sweet and disgusting. It gets easier! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

    July 2020 Surgery anyone?

I'm late to the thread, but I had Loop DS on July 23rd. I'm down 66 pounds from my high weight of 393, and 41 pounds since surgery. I'm feeling great! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Does hunger come back?

I'm only 8 weeks post op and my hunger is back and has been for about a month. Actual real hunger pangs, not head hunger. I am pretty disappointed about it, but luckily, it's so easy to satisfy with a small amount of food. I had really hoped to lose my hunger for a long time after surgery. I just worry that when I get to the point that my stomach can hold more I will start eating too much again. I'm determined to never let that happen though! 20. I'm on Lexapro, and although I have had my anxiety and depression under control for several years now, I am hesitant to stop it. So far, I'm losing weight just fine with it. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  21. I lost 15 pounds on my 2 week preop diet. Sent from my moto g(6) using BariatricPal mobile app
  22. I went through those feelings too. I'm 49 and have a 9 year old son. But the biggest reason I had this surgery was for him. I wanted to be able to do things with him and have a chance to see him grow up. I wouldn't if I stayed 393 pounds. There are no guarantees in life, but I knew this gave me the best chance. I'm only almost 8 weeks out but I don't regret it at all. I already feel a million times better! I had my gallbladder out in January and that's actually riskier than wls now, according to my surgeon, and I didn't think twice about that! Good luck. You'll be fine! Post op Bloody Stool

I had bright red stool a few times early on, and it was my hemorrhoids from being on Eliquis, the blood thinner. Usually bright red stool is from hemmorhoids, but just to be safe I'd mention it to your dr. Sent from my moto g(6) using BariatricPal mobile app
