  1. So that is probably equivalent to half a sausage I'd guess. The Butterball kind is one big sausage. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. Thank you! This "food porn" thread got me through the worst part of the surgery! The sausage is 3 oz of a 12 oz. sausage, so about 1/4th. I use Butterball turkey kielbasa. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Hello. New Here.

Welcome! I'm relatively new myself. I'm almost 3 months post op Loop DS. There is a ton of good info and support here! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. I felt weak for at least 3 weeks after my surgery. I found that making sure I got my fluids helped. I normally just drink water, but Gatorade Zero seemed to help when I was feeling weak. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

  6. I hope no one minds a relative newbie participating! I drooled over a lot of food here before I could have it. [emoji23] This is dinner tonight. Turkey kielbasa with cabbage sautéed with onions and garlic. That is mustard on the side. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  7. I'm 3 months out on the 23rd. I had hoped to be one of the cold people because I've always been intolerant of heat, but I'm the same so far. The biggest thing for me was a change in taste. I never have had much of a sweet tooth. I'm more of a salty food person, but I really hated sweets after the surgery. I couldn't drink the protein shakes that were OK to me before surgery. Also, for some reason, cottage cheese, which I've always loved, tastes kinda weird now. I am starting to lose some hair but I I expected that and everyone says it usually grows back. I also have occasional diarrhea and constipation. So far, Miralax helps with the constipation. For the most part though, I don't feel much different than before surgery, except that now that I've lost 75 I can do so much more and feel so much better. It was really difficult to get around before and I had no energy, so I'll have all of the side effects. The good by far outweighs the bad! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. That awesome!!! Congratulations! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. I was only allowed one visitor, my husband, due to the pandemic. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  10. Also, I brought pads and underwear with me because I knew I'd probably start. You should ask your Dr. about using the cup. I don't know why that would be a problem. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. I was late, and started the day after my surgery. Honestly, I had so much nausea and back pain (which my surgeon thinks was a kidney stone), that I didn't even care about my period. Luckily it wasn't a bad one either. They were giving me Dilauded for pain and I was pretty out of it. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  12. When I my smallest (153) I wore 8.5 W. After I got up in the 200s and beyond I went to a 9 or 10W. My feet have always been wide even as a normal weight kid, so I know that won't go away, but it would be great to wear 8.5 again! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  13. You look amazing! Congratulations on such a wonderful accomplishment! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

  15. I'm getting rid of everything that doesn't fit. I'm almost 3 months post op. My best friend wears the size I did, and never buys clothes for herself. I love clothes and buy a lot, so I already gave her 3 big trash bags of stuff that's too big. I kept what ran smaller or isn't as loose to get me though for a while, but I'll give her all that too when it gets to big. I donated tons of smaller sizes a year ago that I am kicking myself for now! I wish I had kept some of them! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Irregular period

My period was late before my surgery but started the day after. It was late again last month, and closer to on time this month. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  18. So, the biggest reason I had my Loop DS was because I was diagnosed with NASH and hepatic fibrosis in January. They say it's reversible, but I worry a lot since my liver already has scarring. The good news is, my liver enzymes were about double what they are now before surgery, so hopefully it's improving. My question is for any of you who might have this condition and are farther along in your surgery than me. Did your NASH reverse? Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  19. Thank you, that's good to know. I had hoped they'd be less by now. They're about the same as when I had surgery, but half what they were before. I did have a follow up appointment with my surgeon today, and he said my liver actually looked pretty good when he was in there. When I had my gallbladder out in January, that surgeon said my liver looked really bad, so my efforts must be helping! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Scale

I think everyone is different. I have a scale and I weigh daily, and for me this will be something I'll always do to stay on track. Some people can get upset with daily fluctuations, but I do OK with that. I just like to see that my weight is consistently going down. I find that when I weigh every day, it motivates me. Help

I spent most of my life wanting to lose weight to look better. I didn't seriously consider wls because I didn't want loose skin or hair loss. That all changed when I became unhealthy. Maybe it's because I'm 49, but I just don't care if I have either. I just want to be active and healthy and maybe live longer than I would have had I not had surgery. I don't feel anywhere near 49 and I want a body that feels the same. I've accepted that loose skin and hair loss are inevitable. There is surgery of course, but at my age I don't know if it would be worth it and I know my husband will love me no matter what, and he's the only one who sees me naked. I still have a lot of weight to lose, so I don't know how much skin I'll have, but I'm not too worried about it. There are so many positive things that outweigh it! 23. I actually had the Celebrate in a regular chewable (like the texture or Flintstones vitamins), and I didn't mind it, but it's much easier now with Procare capsules. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  24. I was a pretty healthy person up until 2008, when my liver enzymes first became elevated. I had reached my then highest weight of 304, and then managed to get down to 263 through diet and exercise. My enzymes went back to normal. Then I got pregnant in 2010 and after I had my son, my health got worse. I was diagnosed with severe asthma around 2014, and my liver enzymes were elevated again. I started gaining weight steadily until I reached my all time high of 393 with a bmi of 69 (I am 5'3"). Back in January, I had my gallbladder removed.. I mentioned to the surgeon that I would be seeing a liver specialist because my liver enzymes kept getting higher and he did a biopsy while he was in there. The results were not good. I was diagnosed with Non Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH) and hepatic fibrosis. The surgeon said my liver looked really bad, and he didn't see me living past 60. I'm an RN and have seen people die of liver failure and it's awful. I was 48 (just turned 49), and I had wanted wls for a long time but our insurance doesn't cover it. What that surgeon said was a wake up call, and so I made the decision to pay for the surgery myself. I wanted a sleeve, but the first bariatric surgeon recommended RNY because of my weight. I had planned to get that, but then COVID happened and they laid off that surgeon so I went to a different one that my cousin had RNY with 10 years ago. He told me about the Loop DS. He said I was a good candidate for it because of my high bmi and since I was self pay. It's still investigational and not covered by insurance. So I decided to do it. I had surgery on July 23rd. I was 368 on surgery day. The surgery went well but I was very nauseated the first few days and vomited old blood just like NovaLuna described. After that, and a kidney stone 11 days post op, recovery has been pretty smooth. I never really had much pain. As of today, I'm 322 pounds, walking every day, and feeling amazing, even though I'm still significantly obese. I was to the point of barely being able to walk anymore, and personal hygiene was hard. I had just been diagnosed with high BP and put on meds in May. I've been off the meds since surgery. I just had my first labs and everything was normal. My liver enzymes are still elevated, but about half of what they were. It's wonderful to be active again and being able to walk with my husband and son, who is a very active boy! I still have a long way to go but I'm so happy I did the surgery and don't regret it one bit! Good luck to you! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Does hunger come back?

OK then I did understand. I don't believe I'll "never do that again", but I've worked hard for a long time on my relationship with food and I hope that will help me when the time comes. I have spent a long time changing my diet long before surgery. I don't eat things like processed or fast food. I eat mostly vegetarian. I prefer healthy food. I'm not saying I never want junk, but I just don't keep it in the house. I know I will have treats now and then in the future, but they won't be a major part of my diet. I didn't get as fat as I was by not eating a bunch of crap, but I did work on that for years before surgery so I hope that will help me. This is a lifestyle change and it's important to me to change my life and live healthy. I'm just going to keep working on all my habits, working on my mental health, and use this tool to the best of my ability. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
