    July 2020 Surgery anyone?

I'm down 80 pounds from my high weight, and 56 since surgery. I have 13 pounds to go to be below 300. My necklaces fit now without an extender! I can't wear my wedding rings anymore. They're too big. I had to have them resized to a 10 at my highest weight. I'll wait until goal to size them again. I also have clothes that were too small that are now too big! I was able to sit in a booth the other day! My BP is normal and my liver enzymes are half what they were! Congratulations to all of you on your success and your NSV's! 2. I actually went into this wanting the sleeve, but the first surgeon I saw recommended RNY because my bmi was 69 and I have GERD. He did say he'd do what I wanted though I researched and decided he was right. Then they laid him off because of COVID and I went to a different surgeon who recommended Loop DS, which I'd never heard of. He also said he'd do RNY. I researched it and decided the Loop DS was right for me. I'm 3 months post op and happy with my decision so far. On you're really uncomfortable I'd talk to him. 3. Dying was number one. I don't want to leave my 9 year old son or husband. Fear number two was that it wouldn't work. What if I paid all this money (I was self pay since our insurance doesn't cover it) and still couldn't lose weight? What if I put myself through this major surgery and still couldn't lose weight? I'm 3 months post op and it's working. Fear number 3 was complications. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

    I'm Hungry are You?

I think by the 4th day of my 2 week preop liquid diet, it was more tolerable. Caffeine withdrawal caused a bad headache the first few days. After that I just white knuckled it. I have NASH, and I was so worried my liver wouldn't shrink so I did not cheat. It's definitely hard to get through but just hang in there! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Skipping Purees

I am not exactly a picky eater, except when it comes to texture and how food looks. There is no way EVER I could puree meat or chicken salad or whatever and eat it. I got through the pureed stage by having things that are already pureed, like applesauce and pudding. I never pureed any food. I wouldn't have been able to stomach it. Taco salad

Ugh. This was meant to go in the food before and after thread. I don't know how I managed to put it here and I can't for the life of me figure out how to edit things on the mobile app. Sorry! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. They allowed be to swallow pills from day one, as long as they could fit through a medium straw or if it was a capsule. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  10. Oh, man, I love roasted garlic and can just sit and eat it! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. Tracking is something I don't like doing, but I make myself and it's really helpful. I've been using My Fitness pal, but I tracked in Baritastic for the first time today and I really like it, so I am going to switch.. You just have to find something that works for you. 12. I surgery was in July, but I felt pretty safe, since they restricted visitors, and EVERYONE was wearing a mask, unlike the area I live, where there is no mandate and hardly anyone wears them.. I felt safer in the hospital than most places. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

Coronavirus: to mask or not to mask?

I had to wear one in the hospital when I was out of my room, but did not have to in my room. I did put it on when the nurses or doctors came in. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  14. I was 393, my highest weight, in January 2020 when I had my gallbladder removed. That surgeon recommended wls because of how bad my liver looked. Because if COVID it took some time to get my surgery, but I had it on July 23rd. I weighed 368 the day of surgery. I'm 313 as of today. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  15. I started feeling actual hunger, definitely not acid, about 1 month post op. Everyone is different, but it does take most people longer. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  16. My dietitian said 850 to 1000. I'm am 3 months post op. I usually get between 700 to 800. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

Coronavirus: to mask or not to mask?

I just don't understand all the resistance to wearing a mask. Even if it only PARTIALLY helps, that's better than nothing. It's such a simple thing and it should never have turned political. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  18. I love seeing that people in maintenance are eating fairly normally and still having enjoyable dinners with family. It's great for us newbies to see! That tart is gorgeous. It looks delicious! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  19. Yeah those first few days were the worst. I questioned why I even did this! After day 3, things got better and recovery was actually pretty easy compared to other surgeries I've had. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  20. Bobby is so cute! My dogs also love blueberries. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  21. The pre-op diet is definitely hard, but you've made it this far! Hang in there for 2 more days. I found it hard, but even harder post op being on 3 weeks of liquids because I hated all the sweet stuff! You can do this!! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  22. Wow, that is AMAZING. Congratulations! I started with a BMI of 69 at 393lb. and 5'3". My goal is to be under 200. You've given me hope that I'll make it! You must feel wonderful! Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  23. 2 oz. Seared Ahi tuna with soy ginger sauce, stir fry veggies and quinoa with kale. It's on a regular size plate because I'm weird and don't like my food touching. Lol I finished the tuna and managed to eat a couple veggies. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  24. It is pretty good. I'm not a big sausage person, but I like it, and the family loves it. Your whole dinner looks good. I'm a huge veggie lover, and I can't really fit them in yet when I get my protein first. I'm dying to eat about a pound of veggies! [emoji23] Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
  25. Ha ha yep! I'm cooking for me, my 6'10" husband, and my skinny 9 year old son. They both can put away some food! I actually used 2 packs of sausage this time because they couldn't get enough last time. Lol Now we have a bunch of leftovers. Ha ha Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app
