Why am I suddenly getting heartburn??
aimerus replied to lekekari's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Suzanne- What were the results of the endoscopy? I finally made an appt to see my doc after suffering from heartburn for the past week that just came out of nowhere... I've had my bad since June 08 and have never felt like this before. I am having trouble keeping liquids down, my pouch feels constantly full, my throat hurts and strange gurgly noises are coming from my chest. -
I can eat a little popcorn but it has to be really buttery. I ate some low fat microwave popcorn once and it caused me trouble days (too dry).

Do you have new cravings since being banded?
aimerus replied to LisaB411's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes! I never cared too much about sweets before but now I crave a little something sweet after every meal. -
I have seen this term several times....it is usually mentioned along with "sliming" so I assume it is not pleasant. Could someone please explain?

Why won't this gas go away?!?
aimerus replied to jeremiahsmommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi. I feel your pain. I am 11 days post op and my gas was really really bad up until a few days ago. So, it will get better!! Walking helped me quite a bit. -
How about an Icee?

Good luck!!! Hope you get an answer soon!

So, I thought I had this all straight but after an hour of reading threads on the food/nutrition/recipe boards, I am confused. Are the pureed stage and mushie stage they same thing? And what is the difference between pureed, mushie and soft? Please advise. TIA! Banded June 5th!

Yum. That sounds good. I don't see why that would be a problem at all. If you are really worried though, call and check with your dr/nurse. I am 7 days post op and am having something new for lunch - Cream of Wheat- you think I'd died and gone to heaven! This is very tasty.

2.5 months since pre-op diet with 65lbs gone!

Wow! You should be very proud! You must feel great! Keep up the good work! :tongue2: -
You know, it really amazed me some of the things people said when I told them the news! 1. That's cheating 2. Now you will look more normal 3. You don't need that 4. Try Weight Watchers one more time and so on.... People are funny. Just follow your heart.

That is crazy. Same thing happened here in the U.S. with Star Jones except she had gastric bypass and everyone was up in arms that she was not upfront with the public from the get go. I do not think it is any of the public's dam% business!! Sorry your parents are not supportive but you are doing great! Keep up the good work!

Did U Have 2 Have The 500+ Psychological Evaluation?
aimerus replied to speck's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yep... I had to take it. I found it quite entertaining except that they stuck me in this tiny little Baskin-Robbins old school desk. The first question was "I enjoy reading a mechanical magazine." T/F. F. -
Feeling HUNGRY today (5 days post op)
aimerus posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi eveyone- Long time lurker (10 months) First time poster. I am hungry for the first time since being banded. I just started today with non-Clear liquids. I had a little sugar free pudding and 1/2 cup egg drop Soup. I am feeling scared about trying other things. How did you make it through this liquid stage? TIA. -
Banded in Houston on 6/5! Good luck!

Great news! Good for you for not giving up! I too have had the pleasure of dealing with Cigna. So frustrating. Some days I was in tears.. I just couldn't believe how stupid they were. After jumping through all of their requirements and sending in all my records, the immediately sent a letter saying that bariatric sugery was excluded from my plan. Though they had provided me with the requirements and told me that it was covered if medically necessary blah blah blah..... Everytime I called, I got a different answer. It was crazy. I hope I don't have to deal with them again anytime soon. Again, Congrats and Good luck to you!

Feeling HUNGRY today (5 days post op)
aimerus replied to aimerus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My DH made me a banana smoothie this morning. The nutritionist gave me the recipe. It was very filling. 1 frozen banana 1 c skim or 1% milk 4 ice cubes 1 scoop Protein powder For dinner, I am going to have him make me another one...same as above but a packet of sugar free Carnation Instant Breakfast in place of the banana. Yes, I could make these myself but I always think things taste better when someone else makes them. Today is my first day back at work and my co-worker friend brought me egg drop soup for lunch. I am excited to just have a regular meal... grilled chicken, green Beans, a sppon of mashed potatoes... Soon! Hang in there everyone! -
Hi all- I have been a lurker on this site for almost a year...which is how long it took to go thru Cigna's hoops and then wait for approval. I finally got my band on June 5 and am so excited! Hungry, a little weak, sore and still very gassy - but excited none-the-less. This site has been a great resource to me ever since Sept 07 when I attended a Journey-Lite seminar.

Thanks for the reply, Stay Tuned. I bought protein powder today and am going to go ahead and try some of the shakes that the nutritionist recommended. -
Yes, they sent me home with pain meds. I was not prepared for all this gas! I am hearing and feeling things that I have never felt/heard before. PHbbtsttsttttttttttt grrrrrrrrrrrr poooott. Oh, was that me? I am drinking Isopure though I find it nasty and Special K20 Water for Protein. I bought Protein powder today and will start making some of the shakes the nutritionist told me about. Thanks for replying and good luck to you both! Keep in touch.
