  1. I love the bassett team. I just had a revision from my lapband to an rny. It's been a long struggle for me. The band was just not the right tool. Dr heneghan did both of my surgeries.

    Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in

I am no longer banded. I lost my band on 1-11-11 but gained an RNY. I have already lost 25 pounds in two weeks. So I'm pleased. And I've already lost high blood pressure, and my diabetes. I have developed sleep apnea since getting my lapband. the thought is, within the next three months I'll be cured of my sleep apnea, which is mild, and not requiring a cpap or anything. Teri

I continue to wish you all well. My two year bandiversary was last thursday, and at this point I've gained two pounds. Some being fluid. My loosing the band, doesn't mean that i do not believe in it. It means I'm tired of slipping. My band has slipped twice in 2010. Which means I'm more likely to continue to slip. I've always had a pressure in my chest eating, first bite, or even a sip. I have had a nasty return of my reflux, and that fix was a hope of mine. Teri

Well, my band will be gone by the new year, and the RNY will be done at the same time. I'm both glad and sad. Andy bandy and I just never got along well. Right now my band is completely empty, fearing yet another slip. And my weight is now above my surgical weight of 242. I am 244 this morning. Teri
  5. I see my surgeon tomorrow. May need an EGD, but have done the psych, and nut. Then I see the other I have to see on the 21st. They may be able to discuss me on the first wednesday of october. Which means, then they'd ask insurance approval, but mine doesn't do prior approvals, so they'd schedule me immediately. Unfortunately there is like a 6 week wait. teri
  6. Without the proper needles, and technique you are setting yourself up for infection, loosing you port/band and damaging irreveribly the port. IS it really worth that? teri
  7. You do not sound like a raving loon, you sound like you've found the fire again. I'm so glad for you. Teri
  8. I don't know your financial/insurance situation, but MANY MANY insurances that do cover revision require you wait two yrs. That's what's holding me up, that two year mark... which is september 16. My surgeon's office is working with me, I've got a couple of my appts out of the way.
  9. I am in the process. Medicare's only restrictions (here in ny anyway) are that you still meet original surgical conditions... BMI over 35 with one co-morbidity, or over 40. I'm still over 40, and i have multiple co-moribidities, so am going thru the process. My surgical center requires you to have finished 2 yrs with the band. Teri
  10. Yes medicare covers revision, but you must have a bmi over 35 with one co-morbidity, or over 40.

    good luck with yours

  11. Not yet, but hope to in septemmber. My surgeon says it's completely possible. Teri
  12. I have medicare, and have looked into it, nO problem as long as you meet the original criteria. I do, as I've only lost 20 pounds since SURGERY. teri
  13. I am newly surgically approved for a revision from band to RNY. I have had my band for close to two years. Will go directly from band to bypass. The "plan" at this point is september will be my surgery. teri
  14. I love the team in Cooperstown. I work with Dr. Heneghan. He's been a awesome friend and dr.

Try as I might, this band hasn't worked for me. I am officially pre op for a revision to an RNY. So I am a band failure. But I will continue to fight this disease of obesity. Teri

    Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in

Hello all. Just home from a visit with my surgeon. The fills since Christmas time have gotten me right where I wanna be. I could go a tad bit tighter, but that is something I'm afraid of. I'm loosing a pound a week at this point. I'm down from a 12/16/09 high of 249, to 235, after lunch and fully dressed. I'll take it. He won't see me again until July, and if I've not lost another 10-15 pounds we're seriously looking at a bypass. I'm ready for it. I struggle so with loosing every pound. But am starting to feel like it wasn't a complete waste of money. Teri

    Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in

I'm doing two things different: 1) i had a fill december 16, and it really seems to ghave been right what i needed. I toally didn't want or need snacking. 2) i'm dating a guy that had RNY. What amazing support you get when you have a fellow WLS person in your immediate face. teri

    Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in

I would love to, but fear i'd loose to much right now. I finally know what it is to have restriction. In the last 5 weeks i have lost 10 pounds. I think this band and I are working together for once. I fear it will end. teri
  21. I'm doing ok. Thanks for asking. This last adjustment seems to be closer if not the perfect spot for me. I lost and maintained a loss of two pounds over the holidays. Which means I gained back two. But geez my appt was a few days after new years. I had ham for new years, which means I'm swollen too (or was). I go back feb 1st, and will decide then if I need to bump things up even more, or am liking where I am. I get statisfied easier, so I think we're finally moving in the right direction. How about you? How are you doing? Teri
  22. Well it's this time of year... how are we all doing? In spite of my looking into a revision, I think I've finally got my band adjusted properly. I'm learning now to s-l-o-w down. It's so hard with the kids, but I've lost 4 pounds since my last adjustment... one week ago. teri:tt1:

Made up my mind to finally do it

I'd love to see you having some APATHY! I just can't see it you heartless witch.
  24. I don't know how you made up that whaa whaa wha bull shit. But you are totally not worth my time. I too hope they can find a health insurance option that is for all. And stops making the elderly and the not healthy the horrible ones out there! Teri
  25. May! Indeed you did. One of my son's fathers is dead. Sorry that's the truth. So no unless you know something about heaven/hell and earth relationships that I don't, I don't believe that is possible. The twins father is in jail for raping me. Thank for putting that information out there. Yup, I had such a low self esteem I let myself get into that situation. I get no money from him, or his family who all deny any connection to my children. Second, Matthew is PROFOUNDLY disabled. He's non-verbal. He's not able to use his hands for even feeding himself. His legs, well he can push a gait trainer, but only short distances. So I guess he can't be gainfully employed, he's also only 3 yrs old. Third for my disability... I have 9 YES NINE herniated discs causing extreme pain, and yes I've had surgery on the worst, working on loosing weight for more. Then if they're all successful, maybe just maybe I can rejoin the working force. I herniated the discs in car accidents, not because of my weight, because at the time of injury I was just 202. They of course worsened in the course of my twin pregnancy. But I can't go around killing my own children. Something you probably wouldn't understand. Go ahead quit paying taxes. See what happens to you.... for those that wanna know what she/he said... I'll copy paste it for ya. BTRIEGER said.... Terilynn, I tried to be nice but I guess you don't want me to stay quiet on the subject. First off, you are either abusing the system or an unfit mother. You can't possibly be too disabled to work but able to care for 3 children on your own. Which is it? Second, why can't your baby daddy's insurance cover the medical? Being a single mom is not a badge of courage in my book. It "usually" means irresponsible parent that had no right to have children when they did. Third, plenty of people with CP are productive members of society and are not freeloaders. Dependent upon your child's age and the level of his/her disability, maybe a job is in order. And finally, don't go biting the hand that feeds you. I may stop paying my taxes and then where would you be? (end quote) I'm glad you got a sense of whatever you want to call it. Think before you speak... think before you do. Merry Christmas, teri
