I finally got my first fill. I currently have 4 cc's in my 10 cc band. WHOO HOOO! I can feel a difference in swollowing. I don't believe it is enough, but it can't be worse right? I go back two days before thanksgiving. That'll be interesting. My mom's not real happy with that. But hey, it'll save her money because I won't be pigging out on pizza, and goodies  I have to say I didn't even feel the needle go in. When he played with it I could feel a little pressure, but he wanted me to know that feeling. He pulled out what was in there, and then added a cc. Which put me at 4. He had me look down at it. And then he pulled the needle out, put on a bandaid, and it was all done. Course when I lay down my port is directly under my port incision, so there is some numbness there. teri

you are gaining muscles, so yes you're loosing fat, but gaining muscle. Believe it or not Muscle weighs more than fat. I have a total of 4 ccs in my 10 cc band. I just got it today. I'm on liquids until Breakfast tomorrow morning, then mushies. Then the next day I can resume regular foods. I go for my next two days before thanksgiving. Not the best timing. But I'll cope. It'll be hard baking all day with my mom the day before thanksgiving, without munching. But I will do what's best. Somehow! I have not lost an ounce in 2 weeks, and in fact gained 5 pounds yesterday. IN ONE Day????? I don't understand. teri

Well I'm home from my fill. God I didn't even know he'd stuck it until he told me to look down, and see that he'd drawn out the fluid I already had. (I Did not know I had any). I currently have 4 ccs in a 10 cc band. WHoo hooo. I could feel a difference, but don't know if it will last or not. I go back for a second fill November 25. I'm on liquids today, mushies tomorrow, and on thursday back to regular food. I also have my 3rd fill set with my actual surgeon on the 3rd of December... if I need it (he added). teri

Should Medicare/Medicaid cover the band?
terilynn112 replied to wrk-n-prgrss's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I get NY medicaid and Medicare because I'm disabled. I live in daily, chronic horrible pain. My dr's think if I loose weight it may help. We won't know for some time yet. But if it might help, I'll do it. I would give anything to be able to return to work. It's been many years, and truthfully I hate living on the system. And here in NY medicare pays for fills... 80% like other items... and medicaid will pay the rest. terilynn -

I had only one minor complication, but I think that is something with me. With my last csection, and hysterectomy I got skin infections. The one incision, became slightly infected. They said it had nothing to do with lifting the boys. I had pain a little longer than they expected, but they knew I would have the twins to handle. I did tire, and did have to take a "Rest" when they rested in the afternoon. That really helped. teri:thumbup: -
I feel left out... ya'll have had fills. I finally get my first tuesday. I'm really getting quite nervous. I'm silly I know. If you're still loosing and you feel restriction, then I agree with you Bluez. teri

Chewing the Fat About the Holidays
terilynn112 replied to stevegoad's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did a dry run at thanksgiving dinner (turkey, turnips, mashed potatoes, gravy, veggies, pies, etc). It took me time to figure out what I could and couldn't eat comfortably. But I did find myself filling up fast. Most of my family know about the lapband, so I can take a child size plate. I find that helps, because the little we can eat, seems so much more on a small plate. Plus in my huge family (growing still), it frees up another adult plate. I just had to seriously remember to put my fork down between bites. teri -

I was home alone with my 3 children (two are not school aged yet) the day after my surgery. Was home with them the same night, with my neighbors on call if I needed help (and family 4 miles down the road). I have twin 2 yr olds, one totally dependent on me for everything, and one independent (walking, talking) and a 12 yr old. I did it, and have more energy than most of my friends that had it at the same time (local friends). Also I drove 2 days after my surgery. My surgeon said I could as soon as I felt up to it. I tired real quickly, but I did it. I did much the same as you. Except my last csection was scheduled, and I was discharged the next morning, because I had to get to the NICU hospital 2 hours away. teri -
Anyone wanna do an exercise challenge,

Cool. I'm doing the wii fit for so many minutes a day... and the level I do it at it counts steps. So I made a step's goal. teri -

I'm not sure how it works exactly at my dr's office. BUT... I'm scheduled for fills at the moment on November 4th, then December 3rd. And I just got a letter about a new appt with the "fill guy" Bob on December 10, and no notice as it would be that this appt has been moved or cancelled. So I'm wondering will I actually get a fill a week after my second? I'd really love to bump this up and get some serious restriction, as I'm really REALLY struggling. I have to phsyically feed Matthew (disabled, with little hand/arm use), before I eat, or I attempt to "Test" his. Not good. It's getting really hard, but I'm nearly 2 months post op, and no fill yet. teri

I'm sorry you're having not enough restriction. I'm struggling too. My first fill is Tuesday. I'm a wreck. Teri

I still get it if I move wrong, or the baby kicks it from the shopping cart. (He sits in the carseat type carriers). So i've been changing that too. teri

Hey you all are in the rochester area... can I ask you a question. Well I will... My sister lives up there, and has had RNY. SHe's gained all her weight back, and is looking for someone to do a revision, or maybe a lapband over it. Problem she has is she also has nerve damage from her RNY. So I don't even know if it's possible, but she's asking me for information about a surgeon that may do it. I'm doing good... just anxiously awaiting my first fill. I go for that tuesday.... election day. Are ya'll voting? teri

I hope it eases up a little for you, but doesn't sound like you want it to to much. I'm starting to get real nervous. They offer novicaine for my fills, but I don't know. I do know that hurts more often more than the actual injections. So I'm torn. Maybe I'll try first time with, and see how it goes? I'm chicken! I never thought I'd say that. I used to stick myself with needles twice a day (diabetes), and a couple years ago had a port a cath (similar to our port, but mine went into my spinal column) and needled that myself. Similar idea. With no numbing stuff. So I think I'll be ok without. Just is driving me crazy. teri

oh yea... especially if I drink with it. That's why we shouldn't drink with a meal. teri

I didn't stay over night, but from prior surgeries I would have stayed in the hospital gowns. IF you are given one not big enough, tell them you need a bigger one. They actually gave me one way to big for me, so they brought me a smaller one. ( I was at 240 the morning of my surgery). The one they brought for me would have fit a 400 pound person. You don't want to ruin your gowns. And why make more laundry for yourself? You won't want to do laundry for a few days. I waited nearly a week to physically do the laundry. My boys loaded and unloaded. I just did the soaps and softner. teri

Recuperation time, what's your experience?
terilynn112 replied to Nat0526's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a stay at home mom. I was home alone by mid my second day. I was home the same day from surgery. ALthough my children are 2 and a half (twins) one is disabled and developmentally at 6 months. So I have to carry him everywhere. I did tire easily, but I just kept moving. I feel great now... and yes by day 5 I was good to go. Teri -
sabotoging myself...why oh why???

You slipped into bad habits of the past. I've done it. Today is a new day. This day God made for each of us. We need to take it, and make better choices. With God, our hope, and our support, we can do this. We will learn to make better choices. I know one thing that really helps me not to over eat, is I measure out the amount I'm supposed to be eating each meal. Sometimes that satisfies, other times it does not. I have no restriction at all yet. I've had no flls yet. It's going to take time. *Holding hands* we can do this! We will win this battle! teri -
Sometimes Starting over is the best start. I started down this journey in 2002, and quit, because it just wasn't right for me yet. Here I am 6 yrs later and banded. teri

My surgeon does too, then he ended up going out of town, so it's like almost 8 weeks. I'm so feeling the need of a fill. Mine is tuesday. teri

I'm sick! I have had diarrhea for about 14 hours now. I'm drinking tons, so I'm not dehydrated yet... but am fighting it. I'm starting to get nauseated. I don't like feeling like this. Any ideas on how to feel better? And Deb, we were fighting constipation... for the moment that's far from my problem. teri

I haven't even had my first.... but i'm glad you're second (and third) went well. teri
