Should I be concerned?
terilynn112 replied to ~Bridgette~'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me, I was in excellent control prior to the band, but had to go off the byetta. Byetta according to my dr can cause damage to the band itself. So I chose to go off, and see where things lay. As long as I do my exercise daily (which sould be all it takes), I am in normal ranges. BUT days I don't exercise, I should take something for my sugar. Right now I don't. I've lost 44 pounds total. BUT funny thing to me, I always had blood pressures of like 110/68, now I'm running high 130's over high 80's. So I am heading for medication for that. I've been under a lot of stress, so hopefully that eases. And maybe my bp will go back to normal. I am scheuduled to see my endocrinologist the 24th, am trying to reschedule. But if I have to wait to long, I'll move my other appt. I'm thinking he may put me on a sliding scale insulin, until I loose enough weight I don't need it. Teri -
Sash, have you ever saw a physical therapist about your planter facisitis. I have it, and have had a lot of benefit from seeing one, when it flares. Teri

Hiatal Hernia ???
terilynn112 replied to PontiacMan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My upper GI and endoscopy said I had a huge hiatal hernia, and surprise to me, and my surgeon, he got in there, and nothing. good luck with your surgery. teri -
I have had several people mention my weight loss. I don't see it however. teri

Sadie this person posted back in 2006. God only knows where they are, or how they've done since then.

I've lost my extra chin, and have cheek bones. I've also discovered I have hip bones too. My collar bone is there now too. I like these changes. teri

Wondering why you hit a plateau or regain at about 2-3 weeks post-op? My theory:
terilynn112 replied to Fanny Adams's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're loosing inches instead of pounds. Which is also beneficial. teri -
That's so funny... but oh so one of my struggles teri

I was about to look for you. I'm glad you're healing, and getting back into a good routine. It's difficult, more than I remembered. Teri

I have trouble with eating before noon as well Neicey.. I do get a protein shake in each morning, because otherwise I'm not at my goal for protein each day. But that's ok. I'm drinking tons, and still stuck. I'm getting frustrated. Course I've bumped up my exercise routine, so maybe I'm building muscle, because I'm loosing or shifting things around I'm loosing top down inches wise now. My chest i've lost an entire bra size... went from a 38 d to a 36 c. My next part of my stomach is nearly flat. No more roll there, so much so that my port is very easily detected. So much so, if you look at me from the wrong angle you can see the lump where my port is. That's kinda freaking me out a bit. The dr that does my fills, said that sooner or later they'll have to put a low profile port in. Because that will continue to become a problem. I had my first fill this week, I have a total of 4 ccs in my 10 cc band. I go for another cc November 25th... 2 days before thanksgiving. Thankfully My dr's only make you be on liquids that day, mushies the next day. And then the third day (which would be thanksgiving) I can eat real food. I'm a bit nervous, something might end up stuck, but I'll deal. Teri

Restriction following surgery???
terilynn112 replied to Neugene's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It is better that way, but it really isn't needed, so I'm just going to stop trying. Bread has always been a bad food for me (diabetic), so I shouldn't have been eating it for 5 yrs. teri -
Any Regrets?!?

Question for all you Banders or Non Banders :)
terilynn112 replied to AudsMom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
not what i'm seeing. Several people in the original first lapbandsters in my local clinic have their bands still. They've been doing the band for 7+ yrs. And my personal mentor has had hers for 5 yrs and looks great. Teri -
I got the Jillian game. Truthfully, I've not had the delay anyone else here has complained about. Plus I just went to training, and did custom training and had a choice of activities. I didn't have to do the running. I did though. Burned off a bunch of calories  Always a good thing. And I did my wii fit free steps this morning. I have to update my ticker now. I will be keeping it. I won't be using it daily like I do the wii fit. Oh I mentioned wii fit, because I bumped the free step up to 30 minutes today. I was a puddle with that, and now with the jillian game. The graphics aren't the best, and some of the activities will need fine tuning before I really get it. Like the boat rowing, I was so totally lost (my kids stood in front of the tv during the directions). The jumping one I don't quite get. Teri

Restriction following surgery???
terilynn112 replied to Neugene's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Breads are difficult on band people. I can not do bread... I get stuck EVERY time. I am having issues with giving up bread...a nd admit it. I had restriction the first I'd say 3 almost 4 weeks. I didn't get my first fill until 7 weeks post op. I only got 1 cc added to what I thought was an empty band. Not true I found out. I had 3 ccs in my band at surgery, and went to 4 ccs this week. I can feel a difference. Is it where I need to be? No. But I get another fill in 2 weeks. Teri -
Any Regrets?!?
terilynn112 replied to Brie_SDmamaofTwins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Carbonation is a risky thing. Many people decide to go back to it, but it can displace your band... and why take it in, when it's so filled with sodium and calories. Sodium makes me swell. teri -
welcome to the group. Teri

Any Regrets?!?
terilynn112 replied to Brie_SDmamaofTwins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too am a mom of twins, and am 7 weeks post op for my band. I slowed seriously down when I got about a month post op. But I'm working slowly at moving the scale down. I'm down a total of 44 pounds.... and stuck there. That's ok. I'm loosing some extra inches I had my first fill two days ago. And it was painless. I feared that more than the surgery. I will have another fill in about 2 weeks. Just before thanksgiving. It will bring my band to 5 cc with a possible 10. I can feel a slight difference. Next time I hope to feel more. My dr's aren't real aggressive with fills. I have no regrets. I do... not getting it sooner. Not having had it and gotten healthier before the twins. But as far as the actual surgery. Teri -
NO will power came with band
terilynn112 replied to partyrx2002's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nancy, no disrespect intended, because I'm sure you have been thru the ringer... if you're so negitive about the whole band process, why continue to come here and tear us down for our choices. So far the band is working wonders for me. I'm pleased with my progress, and although it's work, I worked hard gaining the weight, eating so very much. I didn't put the weight on over night, and surely don't believe it will come off overnight. good luck in your journey... whichever way it is. teri -
Post operation diet?
terilynn112 replied to alicez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon (and each is different) recommends a full liquid diet (if it can't go thru a straw it's not to gothru the lips) for a week. Then mushies, that are liquidy enough to spread out when on a plate for two weeks. But I've seen stricter and less strict diets post op. Teri -
"Head" hunger/eating when bored...
terilynn112 replied to Shleb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh most definitely. It's a constant struggle for me. And what makes it worse, is my one son is disabled so I have to feed him all the time. If I don't think, I will take a bite here and there. But I have to learn to think. The boredom is a challenge, so I try to keep my hands busy. Either online (don't allow food near the pc), or with crafts I am doing. The head hunger... so far I've tried drinking Water. Sometimes it helps, other times it doesn't. Last night at support group they suggested a sugar free Jello cup. I'll be trying that soon. good luck teri -
I'm doing the wii fit daily. I ordered and have been waiting for my jillian game... I even pre ordered it. I think it's going back. UNOpened. And when I fill out the form why, I'm gonna tell them the delay in shipping. I'll go get the outdoors game or DDR. thanks for the input. I do the wii fit daily, for at minimum 30 minutes doing the wii step aerobics free step. teri

1/2 cup is not 2 ounces, but it's 4 ounces. There are 8 ounces in a cup. teri

I feel so much better today. I can even feel water going down slower. That's good. I can't believe I scheduled my next fill for 2 days before thanksgiving. My mom is in a total panic. LOL. teri
