  1. Hi I had my lapbad just on 2 years ago and have lost approx 25 kilo's with still approx 25 to go. Throughout the 2 years I have only had 3 fills (it is a 3 hour trip) for me to get filled as I need to travel to a bigger city to get this done. Anyway whilst I am okay with the 25 kilos I must admit that it has been quite a hard slog and I feel like most of the time I am on a diet and planning what I eat to ensure I dont eat too much which I guess is similar to how I was before banding. My questions are sometimes I feel pain in my arm/jaw and that crushing pain people talk about when they eat too much and then start to gag it back up etc however after that feeling has gone (say 3 minutes) I dont feel full and can just resume eating again. Can someone try and explain what is the "full" feeling I should feel? I have never had a feeling of "OMG, I cant eat another single thing" like I used to in pre band days after eating a big xmas dinner etc. Is the pain feeling the signal to stop and even though I might not have that "full" feeling, am I meant to just stop anyway?? Sorry, there is an awful lot of questions in there but am just confused. Thanks

    Anyone getting banded in AUGUST

Hey Lellow How is everthing going? Gosh you have nearly been banded a week, thinking of you. Sim :cool2:
  3. Hi all Sim here from Australia, had my band done 4 days ago and all is going well. I havent had any gas pain yet, does that mean I wont get any? fingers crossed! I am doing a fair bit of farting (sorry to be a bit grosse) and seem to go to the toilet a bit more than normal but hoping this will pass. Hope everybody else is good. Sim
  4. Hi Only still walking at this stage, am going back to the gym in 2 weeks from Monday, I go to Curves and will be aiming to go 4 times per week. I am just starting mushies, approx Day 16 and a sample day for today was Brekky: 1/2 sachet of Uncle Toby's oats - pretty milky at this stage Lunch: Small can of John West light tuna (sandwich flakes) with 3 clix crackers Dinner: 1/2 cup of cooked Pasta with a tomato based sauce and a little bit of grated cheese Snacks: 1/2 mashed banana, 1 weight watchers icecream Fluids: Tea, Latte, Water, Diet Lemonade I have also planned some meals for this week and they are things like mashed vegies, steamed fish, pasta, scrambled eggs, poached eggs, tuna, baked Beans and then progressing onto risotto, taco's, stirfrys. I so cant wait to eat some crisp vegetables but will wait another couple of weeks for those. I found the full liquids phase fairly challenging although after now being banded for 2 weeks have lost 7.5 kilos so am pleased with that. How are you going? please share ideas for meals and Snacks too as besides Soup for lunch and some diet jelly's etc I do find lunches a bit tricky. Sim

How much have you lost July Butterfllies??

Well done everybody, amazing weight loss stories there. I am 10 days banded and down 7 kilos which I think is about 13 pounds so am pleased with that. Sim
  6. Hi All I have been doing so well, one of the lucky ones to have no gas pains and my wounds are healing well etc but just last 2 days I have been soooooo hungry and yet I still have 2 more weeks of full liquids to go. I know they are hunger pains because it feels exactly like the hungry tummy you get before I had lapband and felt hungry. I am eating the following (please tell me if it is not enough or any other advice to help me) Breakfast - 200ml Protein drink lunch - Soup (just a small bowl - assorted flavours). dinner - Soup or a fruit smoothie Snacks - Water, apple juice, jelly, occasionally a low fat scoop of icecream I dont have my first fill until 7 weeks time. I have lost 7 kilo's approx 15 pounds over the past 8 days so am happy with that but just need to find a balance with this hunger I have had the past couple of days. Any comments, thoughts appreciated.
  7. Thanks everybody for those suggestions. I will up my Fluid intake, perhaps another Protein type drink at dinner would be good. I spoke to my surgeon a couple of days ago and this is when he advised 2 more weeks of full liquids then progressing to some of the other food you mentioned from the week 3/4 mark. I was a big Water drinker before the op and havent been drinking that much so I will get stuck back into it. Hi Bluezbandit, I too had Dr Wilkinson, a marvellous surgeon who I now believe has performed over 2000 of these operations and is one of the best in Australia so you are definitley in great hands. As you probably already know he is not overly friendly, fairly quiet and straight to the point but my own GP/Nurse are very impressed with my incisions, very neat and tidy they said and not overly big at all. He does recommend 3-4 weeks on full liquids then slowly progressing to mushies/solids by week 8 which I believe is a little stricter than some others in Australia. My anethesist was a Dr Ottoway who was soooo lovely, very nice man so hopefully you may get him too. I am in Launceston so if you want any more info let me know, more than happy to answer your questions. Take care Sim
  8. Banded life is going well, 6 days in and seems I have survived the no gas pain (well, so far anyway). I am enjoying making heaps of different smoothies and juices but must say I am really craving a banana, not a mushed up juiced banana but peeling the skin off and eating a banana! I thought I might crave chips as I loved them before my op but not really wanting them at this stage. I went to a buffet lunch today which was funny because all I had was soup and then some custard. Glad your pre-op appointment went well lellow, time for the countdown!! excited for you. Fanny you are doing awesome and I loved your advice on the non-too tight fills, sounds good to me. Take care all Sim :biggrin2:
  9. Good luck for your pre-op appointment today lellow, I imagine you may be a little nervous but also very excited. Thinking of you. Sim :biggrin2:

  11. I am 4 days in and have been mainly having soups and jellies but also I have found a little custard to be nice and also vegetable juice first thing of a morning. I have got a cool new blender so am looking forward to whipping up some cool fruit smoothies in the next few days.

    How long does it take?

Hi, you may find surgeons are different and probably works a little differently according to the surgeon demands, tests you need and the state you live. For me once I had my initial chat with the surgeon in March 08 I needed to have some blood tests and I also wanted to meet with my anethesist (hard word to spell!) I also attended a pre admission clinic at the hospital which was really good. I have just been banded last Thursday 17th July and all is going well so far. I have found this site really good in getting answers to questions etc. You have a 2 weeks liquids and 2 weeks "mushies" (soft foods) before progressing to solids after your operation so depending on your date it may clash with your overseas trip etc. Hope this helps a little. Sim
  13. Hi everyone Send me some good vibes for my lap band op on Thursday 17/07. I am sooo nervous about the op that is the part I cant stop thinking about, I feel prepared as I can be about the after stuff, just the thought of being operated on is making me feel worried etc. If anybody else is getting banded this week good luck to you too. Take care all Sim :biggrin:

    Newbie here

Hi I am new here too. My op is on 17 July 2008 so not long to go. Have been looking into this for 12 months so has taken me a while to gather courage in having it done. My biggest thing is worried about not waking up after the surgery (silly I know) but anyway time has come to get it done. I weigh 134 kilos so a fair way to go on my journey. Good luck on your journey, this site looks awesome.
