My band has been filled quite a few times now, but all of a sudden my appetite seems to have increased. could this just be one of those things and do you reckon it will go back to normal soon?

I wonder if anybody else had had anything similar - the original port site was just on my bra line and would not heal properly, therefore I paid to have the port resited. Now where the port itself is is fine but I had terrible pain in my side and swelling, after the swelling went down it turns out that part of the tube from the port to the band has broken through the surface of the skin, you can actually see the port. I am having to have a procedure done on Weds under a local anaesthetic to push the tube deeper and then stick me back up again. Has anybody heard of this happening before?:help:

What are the symptoms of a band slipping ?
-
I was banded 2 years ago but 4 weeks ago I had to have the port moved. Over the last week the band seems to have become tight. I can take fluids in the morning but cannot eat solids until late afternoon or evening. My consultant has said to see if things settle down over the next few days. Has anybody else had their band tightening for no reason?

Has it all cleared up now? I am having to have my port moved simply because of where the surgeon put it (right on my bra line). The scar tissue keeps flaring up and becoming infected. I have to keep a dressing on it all of the time

I have had exactly the same in the site where the port is. At first the surgeon suggested it might be erosion of the band on checking he said this was not the case. He then thought that the port might have to be moved as unfortunately mine is right where the bra line is so my bra keeps rubbing it. As I did not want another op I went to see a nurse at a wound clinic and they have been trating it with Tegaderm dressings and inadine. The wound is closing up but I think it will always be a problem because it is where the bra is. Please let me know what your doctor suggests?

First of all I am new to your group so Hello to everybody. I live in the UK and I had my band fitted in April of last year. To date have lost over 4 stone. Each time I had an adjustment the doctor missed the port and it therefore aggravated the area which made the port area flare up a bit. This has at last healed and there is no pain in the area, but I was a bit concerned last week when I thought the restriction was not as much as it had been. I contacted my surgeon and he has said there is a possibility of the band being eroded. Looking at all various bits of information on web sites, if it was eroded I would be in pain or at least discomfort? I really do not want to have my band removed if I can really help it. Is there anybody out there that can offer me some advice please?

Advice please regarding possible erosion?
jowoolcott replied to jowoolcott's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I saw my surgeon last night and he said he was sure there is no erosion. He adjusted my band by one more ml. and this is really noticable today. I am sticking with fluids ony for a few days as solids will not go down (as tried some oatmeal and gave up). He has said that in a while he would like to have a look with an endoscope but he was happy to wait a while and see how things go. Thankyou for all your help. -

Thankyou to everybody for your replies. I am going to see my surgeon this evening and will ask him about the possibility of the tube being punctured. As it could well be his fault he might not like my suggestion but hey!!! I will keep you all posted. Thankyou again
