    Plateau

thanks everyone, guess this is just a slow spell for her.
  5. Hi all, My wife has been doing fantastic since her surgery in June. She has lost about 60 pounds. She has hit somewhat of a "plateau" for the past couple of weeks. She has not gained or lost. Is this normal? She is a little concerned. She has had two fills, the last on in early August. She feels great. She started at about 270 and is 210 now. Any suggestions for her? Thanks, Dustydog

    Help! Wife is miserable

Hi all, my wife is doing much better today. We called the surgeon yesterday and he had her go to the ER. She was dehydrated and after getting some fluids and antibiotics in she felt much better. Today has been a great day for her, she went outside 3 times for short walks. I think we are out of the tough part! Thanks everyone!

    Help! Wife is miserable

Thanks everyone. I told her that the concencous is that this will pass in a day or two. She has been able to drink some flavored water and is keeping that down. I gave her a massage (as best I can) and she is lying down with a heating pad. Seems to be a little better. We agreed to see how things are later this afternoon and if not better we will call the Doc. She says that she just needs some energy, feels drained and I am sure that is normal based on what I have read here. I just hate to see her not feeling good. I think she may be having second thoughts about this whole thing. Have you ever noticed how many ad's there are on TV pertaining to food? I try to change the channel when they come on! I am lucky that I have a job that is letting me work for home a couple of days. I feel better being here with her. Thanks for the suggestions, I will keep you posted on how she does.
  8. My wife was banded on Monday, they also took out her gallbladder. She came home late Tuesday. She is weak, can not seem to keep much down. She has been drinking Water, a little broth and a little Jello. She is very emotional and that is not like her. She says she feels like you do when you have a bad case of the flu, weak, tired etc. any suggestions on what I can do to help? This is the 4th day post op, when will she feel better?

    Wife get surgery 6/9

Thanks everyone for your positive comments. Wife is doing good, they took out her galbladder also because the test showed she had galstones. The Doc said it looked pretty bad glad they got it out. She has been sleeping alot today, only got up once. She has been nausous quite a bit. I was surprised that they did not have her up more but everyone said it would be ok. She is suppose to come home tomorrow. She really did go 6 months without eating anything. It was about 1985, it was a popular diet at the time. Cant remember what it was called but a few years later it was said to have caused major problems. I think she drank some sort of shake in place of food or took some pill I cant remember. I am sure someone has heard of the diet but I cant think of what it was called. OK, again, thanks for everything I will let you all know how she is in the morning.

    Wife get surgery 6/9

Thanks everyone. Wife is in surgery right now. I brought my laptop to keep my mind busy. I just hope this does the trick for her. She has tried all sorts of diets including one in the late 80's where she did not eat for 6 months. After each diet she would gain more weight. I hope this works.

    Wife get surgery 6/9

Thanks it will go good, we are just a little scared. We have to leave the house at 4AM so we better hit the sack. We will check back on our way to the hospital. Thanks so much for your note
  15. My wife is scheduled for 7AM tomorrow morning. WE are both very nervous and anxious. We know this is a good thing for her but still a little scared. Any suggestions on what a husband can do when my wife comes home? She is expected to stay one night in the hospital (sounds different than most I have read here) I want to do everything I can to make this the best experience it can be for her. We have been married 30 years and she has fought weight problems for 28 of them. I cant wait for her to feel good again and want to be more active.
