Well, I just learned what the foamies are
bufbills replied to NiceAnkles's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unfortunately, it will most likely happen again. All foods fill you up differently. 3 months out, and if I eat too fast I still get them. -
How much weight did you lose the first 90 days ?

Does soup count as a liquid?
bufbills replied to Circus321's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Soup is fine. They don't want you drinking while you're eating because it can stretch your stomach, and the fluid takes up valuable space. You'll fill up quickly if you drink while eating. -

Keeping surgery a secret? What did you tell others?
bufbills replied to rmarierenwick's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was going to keep it a secret, but decided not to. It has actually made it easier. Nobody questions why I eat so little, and after 3 months, nobody even asks about it anymore. The occasional "how much have you lost?" is all I get. -
Mine was a week of lean and green, then a week of 5 shakes a day.

3 months out and don't have any trouble with pork. If you like it, try it. Great protein.

Did The Guys Room Forum fizzle out or is it still active?

I go that way when I ride the bike to the "hills" Spring, Summer, and Fall. We love the mountains. -
Did The Guys Room Forum fizzle out or is it still active?
bufbills replied to Tim C's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good. Still some of us on here. I look in at the guys room from time to time, and there isn't much action there. Bill, I see we are neighbors. I'm in Raeford, near Pinehurst -
Well, today I am 3 months post surgery. Thought I would share a few thoughts. I'm down 74 lbs as of this morning from my first day of preop diet on 11/2. 294 to 220. Holy cats, 40 lbs to go. Down to 38 jeans from 44s. Heading to 36s soon. Headgames are real!!! Head hunger, stalls, worries, etc. All of it. It takes time to wrap your head around all of it. My pecker is back! Nuff said. I can tie my shoes without cramping up. Lol. I can bend over, I can get off the couch. Etc. I'm able to build muscle at 52. This is a surprise. I thought it would be harder to regain what I'd lost, but so far I have been successful in getting my arms back. I can eat whatever I want. No problems getting hot, cold, and have made goals from the beginning, but have great restriction. All in all, it has been as advertised, but, some days can be a challenge. Its amazing how one bite too many, can make you miserable for an hour. Measuring, has been a big help.

3 months post surgery thoughts...
bufbills replied to bufbills's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well said. I would look away from the mirror when getting out of the shower. It was absolutely heartbreaking. -
You have to keep your eye on the prize, and remember why you had surgery. Forget everything else. For now anyway. Concentrate on following your plan and doing what they tell you to do. As hard as it is right now, it is a very valuable time for your weight loss. It will never be as easy to lose weight as it will be for the next 6 months. And remember that recovery is temporary. You'll feel better soon. Follow that plan. Good luck.

Drinking & Eating at the same time
bufbills replied to HealthyLifeStyle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry. I was referring to before surgery. I cant do it now. One accidental sip while eating, will ruin a meal. I'll miss having a cold beer and a cheeseburger, for sure. -
How to Start the WLS Process?
bufbills replied to Sam.J.S.'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would call your insurance company. They will tell you if it is included in your coverage. Doing this, will keep you from wasting time, and worry. Excellent place to start. You pay them, and they are there to help you. -
Drinking & Eating at the same time
bufbills replied to HealthyLifeStyle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yea. Its a tough rule to follow. I always drank while eating. I think most people do. -
I was fine with them. My surgeon said what I wanted to hear.

How long does it take on average from filling out the first paperwork til surgery?
bufbills replied to Lisa_80's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Took me 10 weeks. All depends on your insurance and surgeons requirements. If you are self pay, possibly faster. -

Pureed - how do I know if I am full?
bufbills replied to icandothis_gastricsleeve020221's topic in Food and Nutrition
I was told 1/3 cup and to make it last 20 to 30 minutes. If you eat too fast, you'll know. Ask me how I know. Lol. The main thing is hydration and protein. I was able to eat 1/3 cup as soon as I started purees. At 3 months, I still can't eat much more than that.
