Hi I thought i would post my concerns and ask the experts... I am just worried how i would know if my band had slipped, i am 5 weeks post op, and there has been times when i have eaten the wrong food and i have had that stuck sensation, although i have not need to be sick or anything, it has just mde its own way down. Now i have no restriction as can eat more or less the same amount befire the band was fitted, am constantly hungry and worried i have made my band slip. I am so worried.... Pls give me your views...X

Why NOT To Go With "Why Go Abroad/The Hospital Group!!My personal Experiences....

Hey Georgina Like you i am starting to feel hungry, like all the time...! It is gonna be very difficult until my fill on the 9th of August, now i am wishing that i'd said it was too long away to Hayley. That reminds me, have you had your letter yet from THG will all the information about where to go in orpington etc... cause i havent..!!! They are starting to really annoy me now... Well i have been eating most things to be honest, (Apart from Bread..!) i've had salad most days, tonight i had Spag Bol, last night i had a weight watchers fish pie which was really nice. I know what you mean about omlettes, cause when i was in my 3-4 weeks thats all i had and it does make you very constipated, but i got around this by just drinking lots of water, it was easy for me to do that cause i was in spain at the time... ha ha and the weather was very hot...! Hey Georgina like i said in my previous post try not to worry about the weight loss, just concentrate on getting the band heeled, and getting our first fills and away from the hosptial group, i think we will be both plain sailing then. D..x -
I think maybe your follow up appointment will include an xray, i think its general practice to make sure the port and band are sitting in the correct place. Good luck, let us know how you get on Debbie x

Hi Georgina I'm glad in a way to be reading your post (although of course not to hear you are worried) but what i mean by that is i am in exactly the same situation the last few weeks i have lost nothing..!!! honestly nothing at all. But like you over the first few weeks i lost 10lb and then 2lb and 2lb again so i have lost exactly a stone, but then nothing. To be honest i am quite happy to just stay the same until my first fill but this is not until the 9th August..!! I am too very hungry at the minute but just trying to keep myself occupied and eat healthy food. Just think hopefully on the 30th (which is only a few weeks away) you will get good restriction and long may the weight loss continue. I think we all have spent too long stressing over weightloss and diets etc which is why we all took the band root, lets not forget that what we have lost over a short amount of time is a good lost and this is a long but successful journey that cannot be rushed. I would say to eat more than 1000cals tho, are you eating 3 meals a day..? and are you feeling any restriction..? -
Hi Fellow Bandsters I have been really struggling the last few days, just feel hungry all the time at the minute. I know i need to be strong but my eating amounts is just going up and up like before i was banded. I am trying to eat healthy and be strong but not due for my first fill till Aug 9th, dunno if i can cope until then. Only 5 weeks out of being banded, so i suppose this is what they call bandsters hell, i can see alot of will power needed over the next few weeks otherwise i might put back on the stone that i have lost...! Arghhhhh this is so hard now D...X

Hi i just wanted to wish you luck also. You will be fine and we are all here to help if you need to sound off All the best Debbie x

Hi Kerri You def need to have a good time before the surgery especially being on holiday...X Enjoy D..x
-
I'm very proud of my progress so far Kerri, i think the expression is just a figure of speech and we are all very proud of what we have achieved. Good Luck with you...
-
Hi Guys I only lost 1.5lb this week too. I'm actually not expecting too much now as on real food too, its so easy to lose weight on a liquid diet, but i have lost 13lb in a month, and have had a holiday in between so am pleased with that. I think we shouldnt expect too much until our first fills, otherwise we will be disappointed. Georgina, have you got much restriction...? Most things are going through my band now, so cant wait for my first fill....X

Hi Katie The surgery and 1yr aftercare for £5100 is a very good price, you will need the aftercare...! Its very easy to get so stuck on just getting the band fitted, but its actually the aftercare/fills that actually make us lose weight. I too went with WGA and all the weight i have lost is down the diet and not the band, so like i said aftercare is very important. Kerri be prepared to chase WGA after your surgery cause they are excellent up to the point of surgery its after that they are very poor. Where are you going to have your surgery ..? Debbie

Hi Georgina Oh nevermind maybe another time. You can tell me all about how it goes, not too happy in waiting 9 weeks for my xray and fill, but then at least it is booked, and i was very pleased to get Hayley ring me back because she was very nice and like you said seemed to know what she is doing. I will need loads of willpower between now and then. I think you need to try certain foods, i havent tried any meat yet or Rice, on holiday i lived on Spagetti Bolonaise and Omelettes, but what i find is i can eat more or less anything but just not alot of it, which is helpful otherwise i'd be the same weight as i started if not. I am finding tho that i am more regularly hungry now tho, which is why i am trying to eat healthy so at least i can go for my first fill having lost some weight. I am still a member at weight watchers so now i am into my 4 weeks (Normal Diet) i might go back there to keep myself on track. R u at any diet clubs at the moment..? -

Hi Georgina Thanks for you message back. I am currently trying to get through to the patient care line (0121 445 7500 ex 360) but the phone is just ringing and ringing...!!! At the moment to be honest i feel so let down, i feel like crying. On a plus side my holiday was good, i managed to eat most things (even pizza) but just a smaller amount, i still get full quite quickly. But now i am back home i have started to eat alot more healthier. My weight has stayed the same the last two weeks but then i got on the scales this morning and 3lb lighter so i have lost nearly a stone since the surgery, that with a tan i feel quite good, apart from all this rubbish with the hospital group. If u can let me know Hayley's number i can then give her a ring..... Hangon Progress SOMEONE has answered the phone......... Well i spoke to a girl called Amie and she said that there is nothing on my notes and she thinks i have been missed, but is gonna get a girl called HAYLEY to ring me back... SO now i have to sit and wait, but hopefully it is the same girl you spoke to and she will ring back.... arghhhhhhhhhh.......xx -
Hi does anyone know where to get Fills done, i live in Reading... Many Thanks Debbie
-
Hi i think i kinda agree, i am awaiting to get my xray appointment through the post as i am currently 4 weeks after having my op, very frustrating ... Does anyone know if you can go anywhere else to get an xray and fills, even if it means paying to get the ball rolling quicker, even though i havent been discharged from THG... Its all frustrating cause its such a waiting game with The Hospital Group all i want to do is loss weight at the moment i could have gone to weight watchers...!!!

Hi Georgina Sorry havent been in touch been on Holiday in Sunny Spain. I think i am in the same situation as you. Before i left to go to Spain i too gave the care line a call and was told my letter for my appointment for the xray was being dispatched that day, came home last night and guess what NO LETTER...!!! So i am now 4 weeks after having my band fitted with not a clue what is going on... It does make me mad, cause although i am doing very well and have some restriction i feel a bit on limbo at the min without knowing what is going on. Like you i also have quite a distance to travel to Bromsgrove so want as much notice as possible. I am going to give them a ring tomorrow so i will let you know what happens, but please tell me if you have a progress, maybe we can try and help eachother by sorting this mess out. Debbie xxx -
Hi Georgina Glad everything went ok. I know what you mean about getting on the operating table, that was the part that i didnt like at all, then i dont remember anything, theres no warning when being put out...!! Glad it is all over and done with, and i am doing very well lost nearly a stone already. The scars are healing well too, although my 8 year old son asked me the other day if i'd been stabbed...! (Charming eh..!).. The dressing i took off after a week, i just sat in the bath and soaked them off, 3 days seems a bit short. The trouble with mine tho is the port scar falls right under my bra so i kept it covered as long as possible. I did have a nurse called Elaine Downey, she just explained the different stages of eating and what to eat over the coming weeks. She just said that i would get an xray within 4 weeks then a appointment to see the Mr Richardson at about week 6/7 then i am free to go for my first fill. Nothing was said about where i needed to go to get any of this done, so i think you were lucky to get a nurse who explained things in so much depth with you. Although are you with WGA (the package for £4950) or THG (the package for £7450) if it is the THG package obviously the aftercare package would be completely different. I'm with WGA, although i chased THG last friday they said they would be posting the xray appointment to me over the next few days. Also did you managed to get a room on your own as a couple of ladies who had the surgery done on the same day had to share a room, but i had a room on my own. Anyway everything is going good my end, still got some restriction as i can not no where near eat as much as i used to do, more like a child meal now, but still cant wait for my first fill. How are you doing....? Debbie
-
Hi Georgina... So glad you posted on here, been thinking how you've ben doing over the weekend. See told you Mr Richardson is very good. Howdid you find the experience of it all with the Hosptial...? Did you see what i mean by having to walk into the Theatre...? Although i think this is standard procedure now from speaking to a few others. Well let me know how you are getting on, I'm now into week 3 so can eat mushy foods. Take Care Debbie

Hiya, i am currently waiting for my xray and follow up appointment, spabes is Karen from WGA or from Hospital Group....? and how long after surgery did you receive that phone call. I am only 10 days out so think i am being a bit pushy if i ring them, but obviously concerned now that i may never get this phone call at all, although i must say the service has been ok for me so far too. But i do hope you get something sorted perfect ten cause no way should you receive service like that. Go kick Arse....XXXXXXXXXX -
Yes i ask the same questions when i saw the nurse, she told me my blood group etc (although i knew this as a regular blood donor) but she said it was just your normal routine test and everything with me was "Normal".... ha ha... dont think it is anything to worry about. Debbie xx
-
Hi Georgina. I know it is easy for me to say, but you will honestly be fine. I too am one for always constantly feelin hungry but believe me after this op, for a few days you wont feel like eating. I have been having Slim Fast Shakes, Smoothies (innocent) and Ice Pops, thats it till now to be honest, although today i had some spicy bean soup at work and it was so lovely, i came home and had a bit of Ham and it got stuck..so up it came..!!! dont even know why i had it in the first place, just trying my luck... u will be getting by on very little, the way i see it is just watch the calories and the weight will soon come off. Good luck for friday, i will be thinkin of you. Debbie...xxx

I'm just out of surgery from WGA/Hospital group, but up till now i have found them not that bad at all. The surgery went ok, the stay in the Hospital i can understand was a bit rushed but all the Nurses etc were really nice to me. When i was discharged i would say was fine and when i got home i even had a telephone call from a lady called Sandra to ask how i was feeling, and if i had any problems to ring her, she did say that i would receive all my xray appointments etc in the post so now i am wondering if this will happen....XXXX !!!! -
