I think my insicion is infected....
Florida girl replied to jeremiahsmommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Call your doctor!Call your doctor!Call your doctor! I cannot stress this enough. You do not want to risk an infection and it is better to be safe than sorry. MRSA is so prevelent these days and that is only one type of infection to worry about. They are serious and something to not be messed around with. Trust me, call your doctor. Get better soon! :smile:Florida Girl... -
Will I chicken out?????
Florida girl replied to bamamine's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My philosophy was from the beginning, I don't have to commit until they put me under for the surgery. Ever step of the way, I know I can back out. I am a little over a week out from my surgery date and the closer I get the more ready I feel. Remember to research everything and I think you will have peace of mind when / if the time comes for you to have your surgery. Good luck with the process! Embrace it because it is an important part of the journey.... -
lapband and tanning bed
Florida girl replied to Mink's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are still healing I would stay out of the tanning bed. You will have very sensitive skin around your scars and the last thing you need is a burn in that area. Please wear some level of sunscreen when you do start tanning again. You will thank me when you are older! -
Heart Palpitations
Florida girl replied to IGoinDown's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to call your surgeons office. If for no other reason to clear your mind. I am not saying this is it or not, but about a year ago my thyroid whacked out (yep, that's a technical term) and I would get flutters in my chest / throat area. It was an awful feeling and went on and on until my levels leveled out. You need to call your doctor and rule out all possibilities though to be sure. -
Ceradad, I can completely relate to what you say. I have often said I think I have reverse anorexia (I think I am smaller than I really am). It is interesting because the more we get off the more our insecurities come to the surface. I think that may be a reason why we became fat in the first place. Just focus on the positive and when you feel that negative side coming out let it go. I find that writing my feelings down on paper and then tearing the paper up helps. Good luck!

Getting Banded June 30th. HELP
Florida girl replied to mamalovell's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My surgery is July 1st and I am nervous too. I think it is because it is such a big change. I too have followed the 6 month pre-surgery diet and my surgeon doesn't require a diet change prior to the surgery either. I agree with others on the board that you should continue to eat light and exercise up to the surgery. Try and focus on the reason you made this decision in the first place. I have to remind myself every day. I really think the reason I feel apprehension isn't because of the surgery, but because of the 'unknown'. I am afraid of success... I am going to do it this time and so can you! Hang in there and I will keep you in my prayers! Florida Girl... -
Kat, don't let this minor setback impact your goals! You are doing so well - you just focus on the important thing at the moment - the fact that you are ok. It is just a car and we all know insurance companies are horrible to deal with. They are like the IRS. You keep your smile on your face and focus on the important things in your life. As for letting it stress you out and eating a little more, remember the band is a tool not a perfect tool, but a tool. Try and focus on the positive things you have changed over the last couple of months and that should get you back on track. Either that or go run around the block a couple times and release some energey - that always works for me. I am sorry you are having such a hard time right now, but the important thing is to remember it is temporary. The band and your lifestyle change are for the rest of your life. It was a long term decision, not a short term one. Remember that. :crying: Good luck and keep positive. We are there with you! Florida Girl

Uncomfortable at the gym - anyone else?
Florida girl replied to UniqueZeke's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Keep going! It will pay off. I joined a gym at the beginning of January and I felt the same way as you. I still feel that way, but I also think I am just as worth it as the rest of the people there. Remember to dig deep and do your thing and don't worry about anyone but yourself. Remember - this is your journey! :smile2: -
How much longer do you have?
Florida girl replied to Bjornsyouruncle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started in November 2007. I am already approved for surgery (having it July 1, 2008). I can say this - the 6 months flew by and I wouldn't change a thing. I learned so much about myself, why I overeat, how to eat normal sizes, how to exercise regularly and how to be patient. I think that is one of the benefits of waiting the 6 months for insurance to pay. I am truly ready now. Both psychologically, and physically. Plus - I was able to lose 30 lbs in the 8 months since I started this journey. July 1st is right around the corner - yeah! :smile2: -
I am all about the exercise. I have found since starting this journey that it isn't so much about the food for me but rather the exercise. I feel so much better <mentally> when I work out. I just plain feel better. Last week was a big deal for me. I really do not like working out with the free weights, but I know how good they are. I committed to 3 days of free weights and 5 days of cardio. I met my goal! I figured, I don't care what the big bulky muscle men think about at my gym - this is me time!

I am a little nervous about this. It is my first time ever participating on an online forum. I have learned so much on this site, and I finally decided I want to participate and throw my .02 cents in too. I am thankful to have a place to go and get the support we all need! :tongue2:

My surgery date is July 1st too. I am nervous and excited as well. I find myself flip flopping daily (should I do it / shouldn't I do it)??? My surgeon doesn't require a pre-surgery diet per say. I have been on the "6 month" diet now as part of the insurance approval process. So many on this board have to do a liquid diet prior, I wonder if that is better?

Not sure about all of this....
Florida girl replied to Florida girl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Glad you joined! :tongue2: I keep looking, but I can't figure out how to add the ticker tape at the bottom of my signature for weight loss. Any clue?
