Anyone from SE Wisconsin that has or is goining to be banded?
MyDay2Shine replied to Bridgett's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Blessed2, I'm going to Dr.Chua also! My psych and deit consult are Aug 19. Maybe we will end up banded in the same month! Best of luck to you! -
Welcome! Good luck with everything. I really like it here too. Everyone is so caring and supportive. I have learned so much over the last few months. I learn something new every day! I just went to my info session July 2, so I'm really only a step ahead of you in the process. Nice to meet you!

Hi Kathryn, I would watch your fever very close if it goes up you might want to call ASAP. As for your nose bleed, the first thing that I think of is blood thinners. Are you on Lovenox or coumadin? I have seen nose bleeds from that. Good luck to you, I hope you feel better soon.

Going to my first seminar 8/19
MyDay2Shine replied to stitchntime's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi! I'm sure everyone is different but I had my informational session July 2. After the session I received a large packet of information and forms. My bariatric clinic would not schedule a consultation until I filled out all of the papers in the packet and I also needed my PCP to fill out several documents and compose a letter of medical necessity. I left the session feeling very overwhelmed. It turned out to be just fine, I filled out all of my paperwork in about a day. It ended up taking my PCP 3 weeks  to do her part. After I mailed the packet in, the bariatric clinic called me the very next day to schedule my psych eval and dietitian consult. So thats how it worked for me. It seems like everyone is just a little different. GOOD LUCK! -
Who got thru losing a lot of weight without much saggy skin?
MyDay2Shine replied to 🅺🅸🅼🅼🅸🅴🅺's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have a theory about saggy skin. I'm a nurse so I have seen a lot of bodies of all different shapes and sizes, my best friend also let me see her skin after losing over 150 pounds. It makes sense to me that the more stretch marks you have the more saggy your skin will be after losing weight. For example I have stretch marks from my armpits to my elbow, I expect to have saggy arm skin once I loose weight. I also carry a lot of weight in my belly, I have stretch marks that are 8-10 inches long from my belly button up to under my boobs all the way across my tummy, I think my belly will sag a lot more than someone who does not have so many stretch marks on their tummy (like those lucky girls that carry their weight in their hips and thighs ). So those are just my thoughts sorry if they are to graphic, or don't make any sense. I hope to know for sure what all that saggy skin will look like soon. Bring on the saggy skin!!! -
HI! When I was at my informational session someone asked about high impact aerobics. My surgeon said that it was absolutely fine. He shared a story about a patient of his that was in a horrible car accident, her liver was lacerated she had multiple internal injuries including a ruptured spleen, and guess what? Her band was completely intact. He did an unfill until she healed, when she was recovered, she went right back to getting filled, and she was great. So anyway, long story short, if someone can go through all that and not have their band slip, or their port flip, I would think even the most WILD ESCAPADE in the bedroom will leave your band unharmed !

Just getting started
MyDay2Shine replied to kerrik54304's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi kerrik, I am jumping through hoops right now too! I can't even schedule my consultation until my primary writes my referral. Sooo I'm waiting on that, then I can jump through more hoops! I am also hoping for an Oct. band date, but my insurance may make me do a supervised diet (they don't always require it, but they said since I am under 50 they might want me to ). I just keep telling myself that things happen when and if they are supposed to happen. So please keep us posted on how your hoop jumping goes. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you to have a quick approval and as few hoops as possible! -
Anyone from SE Wisconsin that has or is goining to be banded?
MyDay2Shine replied to Bridgett's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Sfeiner, I am so sorry to hear about your son's house. I'm down in Walworth Co. and we are okay here. This really has been the worst flooding in WI as far back as I can remember. -
New to PCOS and have some questions?
MyDay2Shine replied to liltweetyinca's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi liltweety! Finally another PCOSer like me! I also have very long irregular periods. It seems like I almost always have light bleeding, once every month or so it will get heavier for a few days. Sometimes it stops for a week or so. I noticed the bleeding lasts longer and becomes more irregular the heavier I am. Seems like most women have no/rare periods. I have had 2 m/c, so like you I get pregnant, I just can't stay that way . There are many reasons I want to lose weight, but my last m/c made me decide that it is time for me to pursue Lap band. The time has come for drastic action! No more lose 30(feel great) gain back 40 (feel like a failure). I feel like with the band as my tool I can finally lose a significant amount of weight and not constantly worry about when I will gain it back. I believe that when I achieve a healthy weight I will be able to carry a healthy pregnancy! If you would like to compare PCOS notes in more detail feel free to private message me. Good luck to you! -
Hi! I also chose this on line support group because the nearest support group to me is about an hour and a half away! I also like that we are very specific to the Lap band. People here are very supportive! Good luck to you:thumbup:.

Considering Lap-Band
MyDay2Shine replied to MissLynn23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi MissLynn! I am not yet banded and I am far from an expert but I will share with you what I know:rolleyes2:. Know your BMI, call your insurance, if they cover lap band they will probably have a BMI requirement. You can find a BMI calculator on line. Be firm with your Dr. Weight loss helps over weight women have babies. Pregnancy is fine with lap band, it is a good idea to wait 12-24 months after surgery to get pregnant. Because it is not ideal to lose weight during pregnancy. It seems like a lot of people start the process with a referral from their primary Dr. I got started by calling the Bariatric Clinic that I know my insurance co. covers. I'm telling my primary Dr. tomorrow at my annual check up and I'm going to a WLS informational session at the Bariatric Clinic on Wed. Feel free to ask me anything, if I know the answer I'll share. Good luck to you! -
Age 21, Obese, Lapband, Childbirth????
MyDay2Shine replied to kelreid3's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You can absolutely have a baby after lap band! Many women (like myself) want lap band because it helps with fertility and improved pregnancy outcomes! Also if more nutrition is needed during pregnancy she can get an unfill. I do know it is important to wait 12-24 months after WLS so that your weight stabilizes for the healthiest pregnancy possible!:Angel_anim: -
I just wanted to say HI! I'm from southeastern WI. Good luck with everything!:Angel_anim:

What is the rudest thing someone has said to you?!?!
MyDay2Shine replied to auntlucy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It is so shocking to think of the mean or thoughtless things people can say to each other. Reading these don't make me sad though, maybe because I feel like everyone here understands. It does make me think about things said to me all my life. I do not feel sad for myself, I feel sad for the people that say the rude comments, I'm not sure why, because they are just so clueless I guess. So here are a few that come to mind: 1) When my husband and I first started dating I over heard his sister tell him that she was so surprised he was able to look past my weight problem:mad2:. (I was about 210lbs and had just lost 40lbs). 2) When I was 18 (so insecure at that age) and 140 lbs (and 5'7") I had a guy tell me I would be the perfect girl if I would just "drop like 20 lbs or so". 3) At age 11 my Mom told my Aunt (right in front of me, while I was changing my clothes) that she couldn't believe she had a daughter that looked pregnant:angry:. Hello, I had a kid belly! You know the weirdest thing is none of these comments were actually meant to hurt my feelings...Just a thought... -
Need help making a decision!
MyDay2Shine replied to AmosRacki's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Amy, it sounds to me like you are ready to take action! You have your Dr.'s recomendation, so thats great. Think about the reasons your boyfriend is not happy about it. Is he worried about you, or is he worried that he won't be able to keep up with you when you lose 100 lbs :tt2: ? I bet you wouldn't date a guy that told you to lose weight, why listen to one who tells you not to lose weight. Girl it is ALL about YOU and what YOU want (and need)! Sorry if I sound like I am man bashing, he is probably a great guy that will come around when he sees it is still you, only more healthy! Good luck with everything! Keep us posted. -
Anyone from SE Wisconsin that has or is goining to be banded?
MyDay2Shine replied to Bridgett's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Lizalee-I'm going to Aurora-I work for Aurora, so Sinai is pretty much my only option, but thats okay. I've heard good things about Dr.Chua. He did my close friends gastric bypass 3 years ago. She liked him. I went with her once to one of her pre-op appointments. So I've at least seen the clinic. -
Anyone from SE Wisconsin that has or is goining to be banded?
MyDay2Shine replied to Bridgett's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Bridgett, first of all you are young, maybe in a couple of years you will have better insurance. Have you gone to an informational seminar? From reading posts I have learned some clinics finance, or have payment plans, there is a clinic in Colorado that charges under $10,000. I know thats a lot of money, but be sure to investigate all of your options. I have even heard of clinics charging cash pts less than those with insurance. I don't know if it is true, and I have no idea what Dr. Chua's clinic charges. I have heard that Dr. Chua will fill you if you get banded elsewhere. Just some thoughts... -
Anyone from SE Wisconsin that has or is goining to be banded?
MyDay2Shine replied to Bridgett's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Bridgett & Lizalee, My name is Kristal and I'm thinking about the band too. I am going to Dr. Chua's seminar July 2nd! -
Flowers, you will feel good again if you lose weight. I know how even a 20 pound loss can make me feel so good! Find support other than your family, find it here, find a support group near your home, find someone who has had WLS to talk with. Have your surgery, then when your looking and FEELING better, your family will be like "Oh we are so glad we helped you make this great choice". (even if they didn't) Ha!

I agree my Mom probably is worried, but why would she not say so, or ask me questions. I can't help but shake the feeling that she is a little jealous, or worried about things other than just my safety. Like how my lifestyle changes will affect her! I tried to bring surgery up to her again today, I got nothing but silence from her, my husband finaly had to break the silence by changing the topic. I'll be fine, my husband is going with me to the seminar, and he is so supportive, I'm also an educated person. I don't NEED her support, I just WANT her support. She did agree to watch my daughter while my husband and I go to the seminar, so thats a start. Why do I suspect this Journey is going to start bringing up my Mommy issues (ha-ha) Jill, I hope your husband is at least letting you talk about what you are learning about lap band :rolleyes2:
-
Hi Jill, I have not started the approval process yet. My bmi is 41 right now, but it bounces around from 38-41. My only other health problem is infertility/multiple miscarriage. I don't even have a family history of obesity. I'm going to my orientation in 2 weeks. I'll see how it goes. Do you mind if I ask in what ways your husband is not supportive? My husband is supportive (he wants a baby so much), but my Mom is NOT supportive at all. It's to bad too because we are very close. I know she is not supportive because every time I try to talk about lap band she changes the subject or walks out of the room or has to go do something else. So I'm left wondering, why would she not want this for me?:smile2:
