    Post Op day 1 question

Yes the bloated feeling is very normal! The best thing you can do for it is get up and walk around. You must be doing a lot better than I did on my surgery day, I couldn't stay awake long enough to talk to my family, let alone post on line! Good for you! :mad2:

    Got my surgery date! WooooooT!

    Congratulations! That is fantastic!
  3. I had similar symptoms that started a few weeks post-op. I was also feeling really anxious. I think it may have been low blood sugar because it was happening after I would exercise. It may not have even been "low" blood sugar, but maybe "lower" blood sugar than my body was used to. I started to make sure and eat or have a protein shake after I exercise and I haven't had a problem since. If you don't feel better you should call your doctor back, don't let them give you the brush off!

Jenny Craig's new Campaign ::eye roll::

If I'm thinking of the same commercial, I'm pretty sure the picture of her in the brown dress was taken when she was pregnant. Does it still count as a before weight when your 8 or 9 months pregnant?

    New guy starting journey

    Hi Derek! Welcome!

    What makes/keeps you full?

Protein definitely keeps me full the longest. I can tell if I'm not eating enough protein during the day because I feel more hungry.

    just had my band

I also had pain in the middle of my chest, it almost felt like it would roll up and the pain would get more intense and then calm down for a little while. I kept telling myself it was just the gas. On post op day 5 I started thinking it might be reflux/acid or even some type of spasam. I tried taking a pepcid that evening (I already take prilosec every am) and I felt 80% better within an hour. I checked with my Doc. and he said it was okay for me to take both of those medications for awhile, and he increased my doses. I have felt 100% relief of that pain. Good luck to you, I hope you feel better soon!

    two very important questions

I waited to tell my 10 year old until two weeks before my surgery. I wasn't going to tell her exactly what I was having done at all, but in the end I decided to tell her. Right away post op she told me that she was unhappy about my choice to have surgery. When I asked her why she said 1-she was really scared when she visited me at the hospital because of the tubes and 2-she couldn't cuddle with me because of the incisions. Now 2 1/2 weeks out she is feeling much better and now she is the food police "are you sure you can have that?" I do agree with not telling your son if that would work for your family, but I also know that would have never worked in our house. I don't do secrets well, I like being able to talk openly with my husband and not having to worry if my daughter walks in the room. Also my GUESS is that your IUD will be OK, however I believe it secretes a small amount of hormones, I don't know if it is enough to concern your surgeon, that is a really good question.
  11. I am so glad to hear I am not the only one! I get anxious about the band being in me! Sometimes it just seems so unnatural! I just try really hard to focus on how much healthier I will be when I get some of this weight off! Spending time at LBT really helps me with my anxiety. Seeing all the people walking around, living a normal life with there band really helps give me a reality check!

    Milwaukee Wi. w/ Dr. Wallace??

Hi, I was just banded Dec. 30 in Milwaukee (not your Doc though). So far I have lost about 12-16 pounds. I definitely had doubts, I still have moments when I think "Oh my gosh I hope I did the right thing". I'm only two weeks out, and every day I feel better and better. Physically I feel 98% healed, but now that I'm feeling so good I miss eating! I know this was the right choice for me, make the choice that is right for you. If you have any questions I would be happy to answer them with my limited knowledge! GOOD LUCK:thumbup:

    Making my self at HOME!

Hi Beth! I was banded on the same day as you! Congratulations!
  15. Jaundice is serious. Please keep us posted on your condition! I will be thinking of you.
  16. At my appointment with the psychologist she said she wanted to see me again before she would clear me for surgery. She also gave me the option of finding a therapist closer to home. I chose to meet with a therapist (mostly because I didn't really like the psychologist) now I'm established with someone close to home, and I don't have to see the psychologist again.

    I'm new and scared

Hi Jasmine, I just had my surgery Dec.30. I was a basket case with nerves and anxiety right up until the moment I was put under! This was my first surgery too. If you want to ask me any questions, ask away...
  18. My surgery is Dec. 30th. It is so close! Nerves! Nerves! I need to calm down! Best of luck to everyone!

    Hida scan

Hi, I just had one done Oct. 15. -first you get an IV with some contrast -then you lay on a board for like 1/2 hour (while a scanner records the dye's movement through your liver and gallbladder) -then they give you synthetic gallbladder hormones -then you lay there some more -then your done! Good luck, its a little boring but its OK

    change of heart

The decision to have a lap-band is very personal, you need to be comfortable with the risks vs benefits. For me the risks of continuing a life of obesity are far riskier than the risks of surgery. When I came to that conclution is when I knew I was ready.
  22. I was asked to be part of a research study, however they pay nothing. I would be completely financially responsible. I would proceed as normal, and the study would get to review my medical info and progress. I'm not sure if I'm going to do it or not, I'm leaning toward yes, the more research the better!

    Did I overreact?

This did actually cross my mind :tongue2:. It is something funny/sarcastic like I would do, but ultimately decided that was a little mean even for me!
  24. MyDay2Shine

    Did I overreact?

It could have been, but I was pretty sure it wasn't. If it would have been his buddy's I would have told his buddy to keep his private stuff to him self. Then I would have personally gone out and purchased him a replacement.

    Did I overreact?

Hi Kat I just read your post, we just spent the last hour and a half reading this thread and talking about it. Just for the record I personally do not consider playboy porn by any means. I grew up with playboy on the back of the toilet seat, takes a little more than that to shake me up.:tongue2:
