Loss of smell and taste!!
Sassafras1 replied to lyalochik's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That doesn't sound surgery related. Loss of taste and small is a big sign of COVID. You should definitely get tested and isolate from other people. Sorry -
Exactly when does hair loss stop?
Sassafras1 replied to loridee11's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Arrggghhhh, I am pretty much exactly 3 1/2 months post and mine has just started to fall out in clumps... hoping it wont last more than 4/5 months -
Hi all! I am down 61 pounds since my pre op liquid diet. Been in a stall for the past (almost) 2 weeks, but I'm not as bothered by it as I was when I went through the dreaded 3 week stall. I know it's going to happen and it just makes the drop after it breaks all the sweeter! I am feeling good, still eating like a bird and not missing food much at all which has surprised me. Still paranoid about the weight loss stopping at any moment but trying not to think about that. We are heading into spring here in Australia so I'm hoping to drop a few more Kg by the end of September, I'd like to be under 90Kg. Then hopefully in some of the lovelier clothes for summer. I'm so glad we're all doing well, YAY US!!!

Pre-Op Diet Weight Loss Liquid Diet & second guessing
Sassafras1 replied to MariaC6's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found it helpful to write down the reasons I was having the surgery, like you I second guessed it at the last minute but I knew deep down nothing would change. Writing it down helped keep me focused and it was good to refer back to in the post op period when I wasn't loving the liquid diet. I feel positive about my life and the future for the first time in living memory. -
Potential Vitamin and Mineral Deficiency
Sassafras1 replied to SeattleGirl72's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm pretty new to this but from what I've read here, everyone who takes their recommended vitamins is doing well and their regular blood tests are all good. Being obese also develops into major complications which are not easy to address... I know what I'd prefer. -

Arm lift next week - VERY UNPREPARED
Sassafras1 replied to LaLaDee's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I've been following this post, your results are amazing! I have very pale, sensitive skin too so the plastics scars have always worried me. Yours look so great in such a short time though, I've decided to just go for it... when I'm at goal... eventually. I really can't wait already! Thank you for sharing, so helpful. -
Not broken, just sprained. RICE is the only thing for it. Only rice l'll be getting for a while

I just want to say that I love all these options you have in the U.S. Here in Australia I haven't managed to find all these great no carb options! You've all inspired me to extend the search! -
Things I won't miss about being fat!
Sassafras1 replied to ChubRub's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I won't miss feeling uncomfortable in every social situation - meeting new people because I'm fat, Seeing old friends because I'm embarrassed with how fat I've gotten since I saw them last. I won't miss travelling the world and only taking pictures of the scenery or my friends. I won't miss mentioning my weight in a joke or being self deprecating just so people know I am not oblivious to it, I am well aware of what's happening here. -
Does everyone have one main thing that's stuck with them through the years when they were overweight? I have several. The main one for me happened when I was 7, I wasn't a big kid by any means, bordering on skinny, but I did have a belly. I started ballet classes and I was all for it! Still to this day anything Tulle has my heart. My mum bought me the tutu, slippers and leotard and I was in love. I went to my first class and danced like I was in the nutcracker really I thought this was going to be my life. Anyway after class a couple of the girls teased me about my belly sticking out of my leotard. I cried and never went back to another class. Stayed with me forever. kids can be cruel! So last weekend I signed up for ballet classes and had my first one in 30 years yesterday. I absolutely adored it. Onto bigger and better things and letting things go!

It’s good to know a few Aussie’s (US Aussie transfers) to know what products people are buying. We can’t always get the US ones here. -
Well all is newbies really appreciate your wisdom. I hang of every word the vets say.

Good to see you! I got rid of the burping about one month out. Maybe it will go away for you - in time? I need to do a clothing purge too! I might do that this weekend!! I've been told to not buy clothing during this time since I will be constantly changing sizes. I just want all the weight gone so I can shopping and buy new clothes!🤣 I thought I’d try to sell some of my old good stuff to make a kitty to splurge on all new wardrobe once I reach goal (or close) I have a lot of small sizes from many years of “I’m buying this to motivate me” so hopefully I’ll be in some of them soon too! 😬🤞🏼☺️ Glad to hear you’re doing well and all your numbers are good. I don’t have bloods done for another month but hopefully they’ve improved since pre op and I’m not deficient in anything major.

Yes!! I’ve been wondering how you are sleever twin! I haven’t had much reflux, luckily but I do burp when I’m full all the time (very lady like 😂) I still have a long way to go to goal but I’m trying not to think too far ahead. Just did a big wardrobe clean out of clothes I’ll never wear again. Gets addictive, soon I’ll have nothing to wear 😂🤣

What is the best feedback your therapist ever gave you?

Great thread! Mine is Every decision we make is a towards move or an away move. We need to make sure most of the moves we make are taking us towards what we want and not away from it. "Towards moves" and "Away moves" I've found this very helpful, it's almost a mantra for me now. -
Thanks, I guess we all want it to be more for ourselves. Hard to see clearly when we look at ourselves

mine is coming along, my surgery was 21 may and so far am down 53 lbs (I'm in Aus so work in Kg, had to google :))

Little cheese plate lunch box today. I ate about half of everything except the crackers, only 7 of them. -
