I'm a week out today. I have very little soreness at this point. Most of the pain I experienced days after surgery was because I was taking too big of sips. It's taken me a while to figure out my new sip size!! Walking has definitely helped me. I started back to work on Monday and I try to make a quick walk through our building every hour. Good luck!!

I would check with the office and see if they have submitted to your insurance. I know it took about 3 weeks for my insurance to respond. -
This is my biggest fear also. I was sleeved last Wednesday and have had a fairly easy recovery. I actually started back to work yesterday. I'm loving watching the scale go down. But I am so afraid that I'm going to fall back into my old ways eventually.

Finally Sleeved and looking forward to the future!

I was sleeved on the 9th. Best of luck to you on this new journey. I can't wait to see where it takes us. -
Thank you. I hope so. Today was better, but I still don’t feel like drinking anything. I hope this passes soon

I have BCBS of MS. There were two different programs, a 3 month or 6 month program. I went with the 3 month program. I started the process in July and my surgery is scheduled for tomorrow. I had to have 4 appointments with my surgeon and 4 appointments with my nutritionist.

I'm having the gastric sleeve done on Wednesday, December 9. I haven't had to do a preop diet until tomorrow. I'm starting to get excited!! Hard to believe it's finally here

Lap band United Healthcare -sleeve BCBS

I have BCBSMS. I would think that they would cover the sleeve since they would only be approving that 1. They also have a 90-day bariatric program. 4 meetings with the nutritionist and 4 with the surgeon. I just signed my final clearance papers with the surgeon yesterday and am just waiting to hear from their office on a date. Good luck to you. -
My son is 10. I told him and explained to him why and what was going to happen. He wasn't impressed!! His response was "As long as I don't have to look at your incisions!"

What was/is your greatest fear?
Cherie04 replied to Smitty74's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My biggest fear is failure. I've seen so many people have good results from these surgeries, but also know people who are as big or bigger than when they started the process. That is my fear. -
And as far as the EGD goes, there was nothing to it. I had major anxiety beforehand just not knowing what to expect. I literally remember blinking twice after they administered the medicine and then waking up in recovery. My throat was a little sore, but not bad. I went home and slept for a while and then woke up fine. I went back to work the next day with no problems.

With my insurance, there were a few things I had to have done before my doctor could do submission for surgery approval. I had to have my psych eval, 4 meetings with my nutritionist, 4 meetings with my surgeon, the EGD, and lose some weight (my insurance didn't ask for a specific amount, just weight lost). They didn't give me a specific order to do those things in, they just had to be done. I'm now pending approval from insurance. My dr does not require a two-week liquid diet preop for most of his patients. He only requires a liquid diet the day before surgery. They do recommend a high protein, low calorie, low carb diet.

Personal question for the ladies only!
Cherie04 replied to skyewolfe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
😮I haven't even considered this. Thank you for bringing it up. -
And now I wait!!! Finished up everything and my doctor has submitted to insurance. Now just waiting to hear back from them.

I am finishing up the process. I have my last appointment with my surgeon tomorrow. My journey has been pretty painless. My insurance had an option for 6 months or 3 months. I started my journey and am hoping to have my surgery before the end of the year, so I chose to go with 3 months. 1. I've had to have 4 appointments with my surgeon (all virtual due to covid) 2. 4 appointments with my nutritionist (I had to show weight loss at each appointment, even if it was only half a pound) 3. Preliminary blood work 4. A history from my PCP showing a history of obesity for the last several years 5. EGD 6. Psychological Evaluation (I was able to use Rolf Gordhamer, PH.D https://bariatricpsychassessment.com/about/ I did an online assessment and a very short 15-minute phone conversation

I'm set to have surgery in November. My mother works in preop at the hospital where I will be having my procedure. She told me that if your nerves are too bad the day of surgery, they can give you something there to help you calm down. And my surgeon has told me that the pain is different for everyone, but one thing that helps most patients is to stay ahead of the pain. Don't wait until you are hurting to take your pain medication. Just anticipate the pain and take the meds!! Best of luck to you

I've been trying to cut out all caffeine, which has been a struggle. I'm trying to get motivated to walk more and exercise. I've also started incorporating shakes at least one meal a day and drinking more water. I've noticed it the last week I'm beginning to mourn the things I won't be able to eat!! That hasn't been fun.

New here I’m going to get the sleeve done hopefully by the end of the year
