  1. Everyone is different, but 10 days seems a little brief. At 10 days will you still be on a liquid diet? I was able to take almost 6 weeks off due to my work schedule. Also, my work is very active and requires me to be on my feet each day and I typically put in 10,000 steps during an 8 hour shift. I think 4 weeks would have been the earliest I could have returned. Again, everyone is different so speak with your doctor. Best of luck!

    July 2020 Surgery anyone?

I had my VSG on 7/2/2020. Walk as much as you can post op. It will help with the gas pain. It was hard to get in my fluids the first 5 days but then I turned a corner and it became much easier. I'm drinking my 64 ounces of water each day without any difficulty. Try to be as optimistic as possible. The pain and discomforts you have early on are only for a short time. Each day you should feel stronger and will be one day closer to a healthier you. Best of luck.

    I want to succeed

I'm so glad I found this topic. I'm almost 2 weeks post VSG and the protein is difficult. I have dozens of bottles of Protein2O and just thinking about it makes me want to gag! I ordered Isopure and almost cried when I opened it and saw the huge scoop of a serving size. Also, it is not tasteless... So, I'm going to order the Genepro and cross my fingers that I can get it down. Time to drink more water.

    July 2020 Surgery anyone?

I'm 6 days post op and each day is different than the one before. Take this journey in small steps. Each day I feel stronger, more alert, and healthier. Tomorrow I begin my full liquid diet. This is only 7 days out of my life. I will focus on being kind to my stomach and providing it with what it needs so it will be kind to me the rest of my life. Thank you for y'alls openness and this platform. It is so helpful.

Thank you BSNJ. I am self pay. I'm scheduled for VGS on July 2nd. Just 3 days away. I appreciate hearing from you and wish you all the best. I first considered the balloon but after research decided against it.
  8. I'm looking to talk with anyone who began this journey of weight loss with a BMI of 35 or below. I have had people tell me that I'm too skinny for this surgery. My doctor has recommended the VGS for me because along with my BMI I have also suffered from pain in my lower joints for over 5 years. 8 years ago I had a BMI of 40.8 but through diet and exercise I was able to drop 35-40 pounds. The last 3 years I haven't been able to drop any more weight. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

    July 2020 Surgery anyone?

My VSG is this Thursday! July 2nd. This is day 5 of my liquid diet and it gets better. I've had a constant headace that I've been chasing around my head since Day 1. I have a question. I did the swallow test last week and the radiologist told me that I had reflux. I'm so worried now. I have read that VSG post op can struggle with reflux and I'm just scared that I'll have a lot of post op problems. I'm wondering am I signing up for life long problems? I've called my doctor's office and will hear back after they read the report today. If anyone has this experience please let me know. Also is anyone having this surgery with a lower bmi? My BMI was 35 at the beginning. I've lost 6 pounds in 4 days so it is a little lower now. Some people have said I don't need this... Well I started 5 years ago at 245 and now I'm at 202 but I haven't been able to lose below that for over 2 years. That's why I'm having this surgery. I guess I'm in a little bit of a panic right now.

Lady Zae I’m having my VGS on 7/2/2020 too! I’m getting nervous but also getting prepared. I just ordered a number of things from Amazon today. I have my preop labs drawn tomorrow morning.
