Hi all! Good news for me....After the fill-less Saturday I had I ended up finding another lady in the city where I live who does fills. When I laid down she found that my port was harder to find and the needle wouldn't go in again. So then she tried when I was standing up and Poof it went in, just like that! No problemo! I am soooo happy and this time it didn't hurt a bit! I got 1 cc and am feeling enough restriction with it. Feeling great with my lap band....Tash:thumbs_up:

Hi ewalk! I went for my fill today and guess what? I too got it while standing up and it went in on the first poke. The nurse who I went to this time says she does quite a few standing up including her own. Everything feels great! Thanks, Tash

Hi ewalk! Thank you for the advice. I was banded on June 2 and went for my first fill last Saturday. She was unable to find my port. She had the needle inserted in me but it kept sliding off. I can find the port no problem standing up or even in the evenings lying down and where she was poking me was close but not completely in the right spot. I am scheduled to go for an X-Ray tomorrow, however there is another fill person that I found and she has some more experience with them so I thought maybe we will see if she can find it first before the X-Ray! I am just praying it is not tilted....Mexico is a long ways from here!

I also went for a fill this morning and came back fill-less! She froze me by needle which was a good thing because 50 pokes later she still could not find it! Now she has me worried that maybe its lying on its side so it looks like I have to go for an X-Ray now! I hope she was just out to lunch and was poking in the wrong place because if I have to get this corrected....! Wish me luck!

Hi Lady in Red, I must say I never had to have a pre-op diet and got to enjoy my "last supper" which was a quesidilla, it was awesome! The night before that I had a mouth watering steak. My operation went without a hitch. I just couldn't eat or drink anything after 10pm that night. I am in a support group with lots of other members who went to the same clinic and it was exactly the same for them. I wouldn't worry about it. Two weeks of liquid diet befroe hand is a little extreme I think but hey what ever works for your doc!

I was having very mushy potato salad tonight (I have had it before) and was also very hungry! I must have ate to fast and was it ever stuck! It took about 3 or 4 times of gagging up slime to get it out. I am also due for a fill in 2 weeks (I haven't had one yet) but with this happening and me already eating so much less I am thinking that maybe I don't have to right away?? Is it even worse after a fill?

Hi LemonLuLu I was just banded on June 2 of this year by Dr. Liza Pompa in Mexico, she is awesome! There are quite a few of us bandsters in Saskatoon and 4 just went down this week to see her. We will be getting together every month or two for suppers and support. You can even get your fills done here in Saskatoon by an RN Michelle Wright for 75.00. I can give you her phone number and website address if you are interested. You would be amazed to know how many have gone down from Saskatchewan! I am loving my lap band....Tashcat

Hi! I actually got banded on June 2. I also had a terrible headache and although I am not a big coffee drinker I decided to have a cup of coffee on my 2nd day post surgery, my headache disappeared! I couldn't believe it! If you don't think that is what it is , your blood pressure could also be a bit high from some of the stress.

Hi I got banded on MONDAY June 2 and I will be on mushy food starting next week. the first food I plan on having is Mashed Potatoes! They never said I couldn't. The only thing I have been told to stay away from is pork for the next 6 months because it is hard to digest.
First fill was today - it SUCKED - bad!

You know what Tonka'smom when I first had it done and she froze me it hurt more then when I was left unfrozen. The nurse told me she doesn't usually freeze because that needle tends to hurt more. If they find your port right off the bat you shouldn't have a problem. I will also always stand up from here on in, it is so much better! I hate needles and you can't see a thing standing up, lol!
