Well I finally made it through...6 months of weight loss study, sleep study, physc & nutriton visit. I did it all!!!!!!! So my fate now rest in the hands of the Insurance Gods........I beg that they will grant me this one request. All of my paperwork will be submitted to insurance on Monday so I hope to have an answer soon. Any ideas on how long it takes for insurace approval? I have Humana EPO in TX. 6 mos weigh loss started 2/13/08 ended 7/16/08 sleep study 3/11/08 physc & nutrition 6/11/08 submitting for insurance approval 07/21/08 received approval ?/??/?? surgery date ?/??/??

Hey Jules I was banded on 09/04/08 & I know exactly how you feel. My days go good if I can get down 1 - 16.9 oz bottle water & maybe 1 jello cup. I have no appetite at all, but I will tell you my body sure can tell. I feel so drained & have no energy at all. I have my post opt-visit tomorrow & hope I don't get fussed at by the dr. Well I hope your days go better & if not just think this is a great way to boost your weight loss!:omg_smile:

Wow I am so sorry u guys r having this pain, but I am so glad u did this post. I am newly banded as well (9/4/08) and I too have this same pain. I was wondering if it was gas? I sometimes feel as if I have to burp & I can't fully burp, but whenever I do the half burp thingy I get the same pain in the chest. Mine isn't so painful & it doesn't really take my breath, but this is really the only pain I have had post surgery.

My dr told me before I was even banded not to expect much weight loss in the first 6 mos. Now I know I read on hear people who have lost 50lbs in 2 mos and I so hope that can be me, but I know everyone is different & everyone will lose different. Just keep ur head up try to eat right & maybe increase ur daily workouts to 45 mins. As my family tells me...u have done the hard part (having the surgery) now ever thing else should be a gimme!!!!!

I was told that I would have to pay before surgery as well. The hospital told me that the lap band was considered a cosmetic surgery so I could not make a payment plan. I had my surgery on the 4th and when i went to the hosiptal I thought i would have to pay. But no one ever asked for my payment so I guess the will just have to bill me....:biggrin:

Glad to hear you made it through the storm okay. Also it is great that your surgery was rescheduled so quickly. My surgery went great and I feel good to. I have no real appeitite at this point so hey I guess the band is already working for me :thumbup:. I hope all is well for the other Sept 4th bandsters. Oh between the 2 week post opt diet and surgery I am down a total of 13lbs:thumbup:

I was banded on 09/04/08. So far I have had no real appetite. Today I have had 1 bottle water and a few sips of milk. I also had 1 sugar free popcicle and am now trying to eat a jello cup. I know this is helping me lose weight (13lbs down so far) but it makes me nervous. Right now the thought of food makes me sick and I can't stop burping. Anybody have any good suggestions on something to eat. I had cream of chicken soup yesterday and it was good, but now the thought of it makes me feel sick :thumbup:

Caren where are you being banded at? I will be banded 9/4 in Austin at the Seton Medical Center.

hello all. I am being banded on Sept 4th......I can't believe by this time next week I should be banded!!!!! :tt2:

I am also scheduled to be banded on Sept 4th. I will be banded in Austin TX. Most of all from this surgery I want to be healthy so I can chase after my 3yr old son. But being able to walk into any store and finding some in my size would really be nice. I hope to lose 100lbs............:tongue_smilie:

Acck I can not believe that I will be banded on Sept 4th!!! I am going to be banded in Austin, TX by dr Stephen Fass. I am on my two week pre-opt diet at this point which consist of high protein / low carb (yummy :tt1:). I am so nervous at this point. I had to do the 6 mo weight study before insurance would approve me and I never thought this day would come, but now it is right around the corner!!!!! :tongue_smilie::thumbup::biggrin:

Well I had my pre-surgery lab work done last Thursday 7/31. I finally got my pre-opt dr appt (I had to call them to see what the hold up was). So I go for that Thursday 8/7. I will get my surgery date then so I can't wait. Good Luck to all and I will keep praying and dancing for ya.

Wow did you not have to do the 2wk pre opt diet? I know they told me I will have to complete that b4 my surgery can happen. I go to do my blood work & ekg this Thursday so I plan to start my diet then :scared2::mad2:. I am not looking forward to that or to the two weeks of nothing but luquids after the surgery......but I know it will be worth it in the long run.

I have Humana as well. I had to go through the 6mo weight loss study as well. My info was submitted on Tues 7/22 & I rcvd my approval on Thur 7/24 . I haven't gotten a surgery date yet but am hoping it will be around mid to late August. When the surgeon insurance advocate submitted my paperwork she said for me to expect to wait about 10 business days. Good luck & I hope you get your approval soon,

I still feel like I am in a dream........ The paper work was sent over to my insurance company on Tues (7/22/8) & I was told to expect 10 biz days at least for approval. I actually RECEIVED MY APPROVAL on Thursday 07/24/08. I am so excited it is really going to happen. Still haven't gotten a surgery date yet but with what I have left I say within 3-4 weeks I should be banded!!!!!:thumbup::w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t:

I have my Physc eval this coming Thursday. I am able to do my "Test" and review in one appointment. I was also told that the entire thin would last about 3hrs. I has not told how many questions were on the test but I was told it would take up to 2hrs to complete. :biggrin:

Hey all. I am new to this site and love all the information that is available. I am wondering how long does it take on average for insuracne approval? I started going to True Results in Austin, TX on 02/13/08. I was doing the 6 mos weight loss study when I got a big road block on 05/19/08. Come to find out my insurance would not cover me to have surgery or be seen by True Results. So I have been transfered to SW Baratrics Dr. Steven Fass and had my first meeting on 06/05/08. He said he would do my surgery and was sending a letter to the insurance for approval. So now the waiting game is on again. Oh the one good thing I did find out about from the new dr is that the Weight Watchers I was doing previous to starting True Results will count as my 6 mos weight lost study!!!

Hi all I am new to this site. I am so glad to have a place to turn to for some guidance. It is very encouraging to hear good things about the Lap-Band procedure. At this point my doctor is submitting my request to insurance. So hopefully all goes well and that is approved and I will soon have a surgery date!!!
