Yeah, I definitely understand how you feel about wanting to maintain good restriction, jk. Hopefully, your band will settle down in the next few days between going on liquids and then you proceeding to eat slower and chew more thoroughly. You guys are smart to look to fix these problems right away, rather than suffering for weeks. Good luck, and I hope this does the trick.

That's great, coingirl. I hope the small unfill will be all you need. Did you decide what you're going to do, jkend? I've read people say just a tiny .1 or .2 is enough to make a difference.

Another HORRIBLE fill...
kiz replied to travelinsnorkel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so sorry that you're having such a problem with your port. I really hope you're able to get it resolved once they see what's going on with it next week. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. -
Does he live on Drury Lane? (If so, I ate him...yum...he's band friendly) (:winner:)

Boyfriend trouble [it is related to LapBand]
kiz replied to StephOnee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
There could be any number of reasons he's against the surgery. A few: 1. He's concerned for your health and safety because he's afraid of you having surgery. 2. He's worried that you'll get thin and leave him. Sad as it is to say, there are some people, both men and women, who feel in control of a relationship, and want to keep it that way. when their partner places a lower value on themselves. 3. He likes your life together now, and he doesn't want to change things. For instance, if a lot of your activities center around food (dinners out, cooking together, eating junk food, etc), he knows that will have to change. (Although you will only have to make adjustments. You'll still be able to eat out and, of course, cook in, but you'll be making healthy food choices for the most part). If you guys are kind of sedentary, once you lose weight, you may want to try out new activities that you're not comfortable doing now. Exercise, hopefully, will become an important part of your life, if it isn't already. 4. Some people are just plain resistant to change, even if it's for the better. -
How Much Chili W/Proper Restriction
kiz replied to Makulafamy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My cc situation is up for debate, lol. By my calculations, I'm over-filled, but by my doctor's, based on what they've pulled out, I have 8.4 cc. Measuring by what they've put in, I'm at around 10 cc in a 9 cc band. -
...then in sneaks kiz, wrestles the tropy away, and makes a quick escape. See ya, sucka's!! :tt2: :laugh::cool2: (obviously, kiz has too much time on her hands - LOL)

How Much Chili W/Proper Restriction
kiz replied to Makulafamy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have very good restriction, and I had Wendy's chili just after my last fill when I was on mushies. I could still eat it easily. I've been banded for awhile (six months), so I'm used to taking things slow, so I certainly didn't eat it in five minutes, but it went down very easily. -
Until I started reading the info on this forum, I had no idea fake nails carried so many germs. I'm like you, slim-n-tn, I can't believe she was allowed to touch the babies in the NICU wearing them. If nothing else, I would have thought gloves would be required until the nails were removed. I can't imagine the cold germs and other viruses that the preemies will face IF they're allowed to go home with Nadya just from the other six children alone. Yup, that explains it. It was the hormones talking, because she's completely rational in every other way. (walks like a duck, quacks like a duck...)

6 wks post-op had first fill, question about water
kiz replied to wintobethin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think I've ever heard water going thru my band, but sometimes I can feel it. I kind of like it, because it's my little message that my band is there and working, lol. -
Hi Jim, and welcome to LBT. It sounds like your off to a great start on your new life. Good luck!!!
-
Yeah, that's such a great tutorial. If I can follow it, it's pretty much fool proof, lol. Congrats on your on your recent banding. It looks like you're off to a great start too.

Leaking Band???? Port was replaced & still there is a leak...
kiz replied to melodystar's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sorry to hear that melody, but I'm glad they were able to figure out what was going wrong. -
Some docs use numbing, some don't. Mine doesn't, and it doesn't hurt a bit. I can barely feel it.

6 wks post-op had first fill, question about water
kiz replied to wintobethin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I've had a fill in the office, and not under fluoro they do the same thing with water, and I have always had trouble really feeling whether it was going down or not. However, this las fill, when the NP put in 0.6 cc, I could feel the water all the way up to my throat. She pulled 0.2 cc out, and it went down (I already have 8 cc). She said that I would have been back the next day for an unfill had I left with the water up in my throat like that. You really don't have very much saline in your band now, and although it could be all you need, there's a good chance you'll not have a lot of restriction. Everyone is different when it comes to the amount of fill that gets them to good restriction. -
q. What do you call kiz when she posts on this thread? a. THE WINNER!! I would like to thank all the little people who made all of this possible.

That's what has struck me, Plain. Regardless of the mother's needs, the children have to be put first. It's evident that these children are in a chaotic environment without the adult supervision necessary for this size family (and I just don't mean warm bodies). Adding eight newborn preemies with potential medical issues, is a disaster waiting to happen. I don't hate the mother. I pity her situation because I truly believe she has emotional/physiological issues, but I completely hold the doctor to blame for this sad situation. That man has no ethical standards to speak of.

If I had a missing child, I probably would be hyperventilating, but I would also pull myself together enough to give basic information to the 911 operator. She hadn't even seen the kids for an hour while they were playing in the front yard. She has six kids, some with LDs, and she is clearly overwhelmed. And the part where she's saying over and over she's going to kill herself in front of her children is unbelievable. No wonder her daughter said in a recent interview that her mom was going to be under a lot of stress when the babies come home. It was odd that the child, in the second 911 call, said his mom and dad were at a party. It makes me wonder if they call the grandparents mom and dad or if he was just confused because the operator asked for his mom or dad. The 911 call came when Nayda was in the hospital, and I'm sure she wasn't feeling like any parties.

Here's another way to get to it, Beth. It's the second story now. http://www.tmz.com/?flv=1

Here are some indicators you might need a fill: 1. Able to eat large amount of food in one sitting (the amount seems to somewhat vary from doctor to doctor). 2. Getting hungry within a couple of hours after eating a good solid meal. 3. Not losing weight while eating healthy foods. Since you know you're getting stuck when you eat too fast and you're not chewing enough, I wouldn't use that as an indication that you do or don't need a fill. Eating properly with the band is just something that you'll have to be mindful of.
