July 2020 Surgery anyone?

I'm back in the July surgery club! I was postponed due to Covid, but when I called them today to follow up, they said they could take me on THURSDAY!! So I am now doing a three day CRASH liquid diet vs. the two week liquid diet originally required (I made sure they knew I had eaten food this weekend!) I am soooo excited!! -
Help I cheated on preop diet.

So now, I am scheduled for THIS Thursday, I told them I ate last weekend and they said, just be very strict until Thursday!! So nothing but protein shakes and water until surgery day!! So thankfully, only a three day all liquid diet (vs. two weeks the doctor's orders were!) -

I'm so torn...after 1 week of liquid diet (protein shakes and broth) my surgery was cancelled due to covid. Now, they are trying to work out an out patient option, and I didn't think to ask "Do I continue to try and do the liquid? Just do low carb? Eat whatever I want?" I'm going to email them tomorrow to find out what they recommend. In the meantime, I'm split between options 2 and 3 depending on my mood! -

I am also in the COVID limbo for my surgery. They closed Coral Springs last week, and asked if I wanted to consider out patient surgery...but living in Orlando, I think I might just wait. I hope this spike ends soon...for the world, for my industry and for my surgery! -

I should be heading out for pre-op testing (COVID) and then to my Mom's in Miami to wait for my surgery. I hope the hospital's re-open for elective surgeries soon...but it seems rather doubtful. Florida is such a mess right now! Good luck to everyone who is getting their surgery this week!! -

Good luck to everyone! I will still be following your journeys and hoping for the return of elective surgeries, and testing some of the maintenance recipes to continue a low carb, low fat diet, until I can get rescheduled. I think this is truly the best decision...I am a bit of a wimp, so if things did NOT go well, I wouldn't want to be around me!! Take care and keep posting!! -

I think god is telling me it's not my time. Last night, my daughter (24) who would be my primary caregiver, chauffer, etc was lighting the grill and it blew up and gave her second degree burns on her hands and burned her hair (honestly I think she feels worse about that!) We called 911 and she spent the night in the hospital. I know she will be fine, just not sure she's up to caring for me in 7 days. I called and told them I will be available as soon as the hospital's re-open/ Meanwhile, off the liquid dirt and back on low carb! -

Well, hospital #3 has cancelled elective surgeries. Boo! Now they are looking into out patient surgery but I would need a hotel room close by...and reading some of the stories make me think I should wait the 6-8 weeks that they think it will be before they can do the surgery with a hospital stay. No change in price, but that is what out patient costs up in Orlando, so....thoughts??? Liquid diet day 7... -

Where n FL? I'm supposed to have surgery in Boca Raton on 7/21. It was cancelled once, but they moved me to another hospital. My Dr. is on vacation this week (7/12-7/19) so I'm not sure I'll find out until he gets back...yay. Liquid diet is not easy when you aren't sure that the surgery is going to happen. I know I will get it eventually and I understand there are others who need the hospital beds,,,but I still REALLY want it! - -

I actually have been weening myself off of caffeine...I have 3 pods every morning and cut back to two caf, one decaf and now I'm at two decaf, one caf and next week, no caf at all. But Premier Protein makes an awesome coffee creamer substitute! Good luck!! -

Good luck everyone who has their surgery today!! Can't wait to hear how it goes for you! Day 3 of pre-op liquid diet (with the "op" very up in the air!) and I am scaling back on caffeine. I have 3 cups of coffee in the morning and I'm at two decafs and one caf. I have also learned that using Caramel Premier Protein as a creamer is YUMMY! LOL -

My fear has been realized...they cancelled my surgery at the Boca Raton Hospital...the day after my pre-op tests. The doctor agreed to schedule me at another hospital, at a slightly higher price, as long as this hospital doesn't cancel elective surgeries! -

I have moved my surgery forward again...now July 21. I am so afraid they will stop doing elective procedures! My dr is on vacation from 7/13-7/20,,,They offered the day before he left, but I think it would be better to have him around the week after I get it done! -

I'm so excited...moving my surgery from 8/17 to 7/28, so officially a July sleever! Trying to prep everything I can think of and start my pre-op diet in 2 weeks. Two weeks protein shakes and clear liquids only beginning 7/14. I am so happy to read everyone's experiences so I can adjust my expectations. -
MAY-JUNE-JULY 2020 BYPASSERS UNITE!! Veterans Welcome too!

Thanks for all of the information! I'm getting a gastric sleeve on 8/17. I am learning so much, pre-op, post-op and what to bring to the hospital. I need to find some comfy pajamas and a body pillow! I will definitely prep the SF jello and protein shots...I ordered the little cups for them today. I am a researcher and planner (although it's usually cruises and vacations...not surgery!) so I want to read and know everything. Good luck everyone!! -
I'm scheduled for a sleeve on August 17th...no insurance, so this is all happening very quickly!!
-
Just booked my surgery today! I was so impressed by his orientation last night! TWO months out!!
-
I'm going to (zoom) his informational meeting tomorrow night. I am self pay and excited to see how he is. Hoping to get a surgery date in mid-August!
