  1. Just ordered Smartcakes from Amazon - Cinnamon and Raspberry Cream. I wanted Lemon...but they were (even more) outrageously priced! $34 for 8 packs vs. $24,

    Post op feelings

Here are my instructions...although post-op instructions vary widely, this will give you an idea of what you can eat: Post Op Diet & Boot Camp.pdf
  3. Nerves are normal!! But I think you will find that most of the posters agree that this was the best decision of their life! I will tell you that I thought I would not be able to eat normally or enjoy food again...but even two months out, I have gone out to dinner and been able to enjoy food while still losing weight. The first weeks are tough, but after you get over the hump, the changes are amazing! Good luck!

6 day Post op shaking help

The only advice I can give is call your doctor...I have not seen this or experienced anything like this. Better safe than sorry!! Good luck!
  5. Just ordered from Mr. Tortilla! Can't wait for some low carb street tacos! I LOVE this thread!
  6. PLEASE let me know how they are!! I love tacos!

8 DAYS OUT AND STILL SO SICK-help!

I agree with Tek. Your stomach has had a major trauma. Don't force things right now...take everything very slowly. Have you tried bone broth? It was approved for me and I got Swanson Sipping Broths from Amazon (they had plain chicken at the store, but I wanted the lemon rosemary flavor!). They are 45 calories and 9 grams of protein. I needed something savory as opposed to sweet. Then, when I could go to full liquid, I got my favorite soup from Panera (Summer Corn Chowder) and strained it. YUM! Best thing I've ever eaten! Good luck!!

    Incisions

I never looked in my belly button (mine is very deep and sensitive such that I don't let ANYONE touch it and I didn't want to know!!) but they made me clean it so I figured they did something there. I think three days, my incisions were still painful, but shortly after, I was fine. I would give it another day...and then call my surgeon.

    Constipation

I also added Colace to my daily pill regimen. It has definitely helped...I'm afraid to do laxatives on a weekday!!

    help- Eating too much,

I'm pretty new here, but have you looked at the thread Food Before and After Photos? I find that so inspiring to see what people are eating and how much they are eating! It's a very long thread, but I started at the beginning, which is when the most prolific posters were getting started on this journey! I have also found inspiration in the Favorite Grocery Products thread. Good luck!!

    Food Schedule

My doctor gave me what he called Food Bootcamp:
  12. I didn't think I needed the antacids (I have never had acid reflux before) but it DID make me feel less hungry, so if you don't have them, try it!

    July 2020 Surgery anyone?

I'm in a stall too...zero pounds two weeks ago, but I have lost 1.7 pounds in the last week, so hopefully I am past that!! I have felt amazing and it's great to be down 32 pounds! I am happy to be able to eat real food again and still lose weight. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

    Food Shaming!

I learned a lesson this weekend dining out with my mother...slow the heck down so that I finish eating at the same time she does. She gets agitated if she's still eating and I have stopped (with more than half of my food on my plate) and she KNOWS I had the surgery. So I will REALLY focus on taking my time so that I finish when everyone else does...rather than just sitting and observing everyone else eat.

    Scale Torture

I always weigh myself in the buff, first thing in the morning, after going to the bathroom. Almost the same time everyday to eliminate food, water, exercise, etc. fluctuations. Good luck!!
  17. Yum! I love the La Banderita Carb Counters!
  18. Agree with everyone...go slow and stay on liquids as long as possible...but maybe get creative. The best think I did at this stage was pick up soup (Summer Corn Chowder) and strained it and IT WAS AMAZING! YUM!! The worst thing I did was attempt "Egg Drop Soup" with TWO eggs (probably my big mistake) scrambled and stirred into chicken broth. I was so excited to be "eating" something, that I drank the whole thing in about 15 minutes...and spent the rest of the day and the following morning in the bathroom. I believe it was the infamous dumping syndrome. Tried again when I actually hit the puree stage with a scrambled egg and yup, back in the bathroom. Three weeks later, I tried again with more success but I have only had 2 eggs (one scrambled, one hard boiled) unless they were part of a recipe and completely incorporated! Good luck, I hope it works out for you!

    Food Before and After Photos

I just want to say THANK YOU!!! This thread has been amazing on teaching me what I can eat and how much I should plan on eating and how I can eat out/take out and just generally enjoy eating in a new way! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

    Day 3 post op

Every day should get better! If it doesn't, contact your surgeon. (S)he will give you some ideas and it will be noted in your chart if it doesn't improve and you need to contact them for assistance later. I got better every day and feel great about 5 weeks post-op! Good luck!!
  21. I didn't see any! But that would make sense!

    July 2020 Surgery anyone?

Good morning! It's been a while since I have posted on this thread...I was suffering through the dreaded week 3 stall! I'm glad I have started losing again, and I hope to continue on! I was a little concerned about this weekend, as I was hosting my mom and my sister for Labor Day weekend. Due to a pre-surgery grill accident, I don't have a grill right now, so grilling was out! I told my mom that I wasn't up for cooking much, but I was dying to go out, since my son, Kat, will not eat in restaurants due to the pandemic. We went out for Mexican, NY Deli, sushi and seafood. And I actually LOST weight! YAY! Mexican, I ordered shrimp fajitas (ate about 1/3 of the shrimp and some refried beans and saved the rest of the shrimp for dinner last night, although I couldn't eat them all). NY Deli, a scoop of chicken salad on lettuce with tomatoes, carrots and cucumber. I ate a couple of cucumber slices and a carrot stick before I realized that I am not technically supposed to eat raw veggies yet! Sushi - sashimi appetizer (9 pieces, I ate 7 and gave my mom 2) and seafood, ate 2 of my mom's oysters (yum) and ordered the seared ahi appetizer, which I could only eat half. Last night, my son made couscous with grilled vegetables, which I ate about 2T of couscous, with some veggies and some of the leftover shrimp. Why am I telling you this? Because one of my biggest fears was going out to eat and not being able to enjoy myself (and my food!) I had a great time, and while both my mom and sister were aware of why I was ordering what I was...I think I could have pulled it off at a work dinner or date! I even had a margarita on Friday (with SF margarita mix) and a glass of wine on Sunday! (Shhhhh! Don't tell my surgeon or NUT!) LOL I hope everyone had a great weekend (not that it's over yet) and is continuing to be a loser!!
  23. As a public service announcement, both my mom and I thought the Snickerdoodles tasted like they dropped dish soap into the cookie batter! Stay away!

    Surgeon recommendation 5 star

I love Dr. Shillingford! He did an amazing job on my sleeve...no problems, no complications! He is very caring and reasonably priced for self pay.
  25. I found these Probiotic Mjni Cookies at Aldi...I usually have a half serving...but 1 gram of protein per cookie. Not huge, but yummy and perfect for my tiny tummy! Edited to add Way better than making them myself!!
