July 2020 Surgery anyone?
JordanKylie replied to IWantTheDream's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So great to see all of you fellow July-ers doing so well! I'm down 32 lbs but been stalling here and there, which is so frustrating. It's been so much fun getting to explore eating foods again though! -
I've been told by my program and also have seen that it seems to be pretty common to expect to eat 500-600 calories a day for the first few months. I'm 7 weeks out and have yet to go over 600 calories. I also find that when I go back and forth between eating very few calories one day to my upper limit the next day that I lose quicker. So I agree with the above statement about switching it up too.

Resetting & could really use some encouragement
JordanKylie replied to Jilly16's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I believe that you can 100% get back on track! However, I think it's also important to be gentle with yourself and allow yourself some grace during difficult times. Just try to do the best you can, and be mindful of your food choices and then kind of let the rest go. What you're going through isn't easy! I'm so very sorry that you're dealing with that situation. I do hope things improve for you! -
How many meds/vitamins do you take daily?
JordanKylie replied to LAJ23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel like all I do is drink water and take meds.[emoji23] But, if you split them up between the morning and evening, I think it's much more manageable that way. My tum appreciates the break too! -
Scolded for using "wrong" protein shake post-op

It seems to me like she might just have a personal preference due to what ingredients she might think are unsavory in the Premier? That's odd. Premier are pretty popular among the bariatric community. -

What are you thankful for this week? - 8/31/2020
JordanKylie replied to Pandemonium's topic in The Lounge
I love this! I'm grateful for the fact that I get to spend so much time with my kids this year.(even though the reason why sucks) I'm grateful I finally got to have my sleeve surgery and that I have so many supporting family and friends. And I'm so so thankful for my husband, who's done everything imaginable to make sure we could afford the surgery and that my recovery was comfortable. He's a good guy. -
You are so not alone. I'm 4.5 weeks out and that restricted diet was the HARDEST part of this journey by far(and I threw up continuously for the first 18hrs post surgery). But looking back now, it went by quickly. I just tried to focus on some self exploration concerning head hunger and how I used food for comfort, etc etc. Not saying I've got it all figured out, but I tried to use my sadness/depression/longing time in a positive way I guess? It gave me some insight. Also, it just sucks. It's the trenches. But you can do it! Stay positive and focused! It really will be over before you know it.

Different Restriction through the day
JordanKylie replied to ResaRoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not sure of the biology of it, but the same thing happens to me too! It seems like my tum gets more tolerant toward foods thought the day? It's weird. And I'm not sure if this is the right way to approach it, but I usually don't snack at all throughout the day and save a few calories back so I can have a little healthy snack with my husband when we're chillin after the kids go to bed. Hahaha -
Are the 4 teaspoons the amount your plan has stated to eat, or is that all that you can fit?
-
I was soooooo sick for the first 18ish hours. I was really glad my husband didn't have to see me like that. There are pros to every bad situation. Lol.

Can't your body only absorb like 30 grams at a time or something? That's just silly. -

Hey! I just had mine on the 29th of July. I went home the next day too. I took the norco they provided through day 4 I believe. And I felt like I did need it that whole time. After that, I took Tylenol once or twice and was fine. The hunger rumbles were a HUGE issue for me. But I finally realized that it must have been gas bubbles. I also have 2 little kiddos so I'm constantly preparing food and watching people eat, I just watched them eat Chick fil a for example. And it's hard. It was harder at first. I think I finally turned a corner about 10 days post op with the emotional aspect of other people eating and the hunger rumbles. If you can push through the first two weeks, or however long you're on liquids for, I PROMISE it gets so much better. I ate a cheese stick while they had their (grilled) nuggets and really was mostly fine. Hang in there! It really will get better. Oh, and walk walk walk! But I'm sure you've heard that a million times by now. Hahaha

Year and half post surgery
JordanKylie replied to Alyssn1011's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
New&Improved! This is the nicest, most level headed thing I've seen you say on here. It's lovely to see! -
My husband NEVER notices weight gains/ losses. Which is awesome when I got super heavy. But now I'm thinning out again(for GOOD) and I'm like, dude where my compliments at? I gotta fish for them sometimes, but once I point out that I've reached certain goals, or that certain things fit/don't fit, he will obvs be excited and supportive. Sometimes ya just gotta go get those notices yourself [emoji849][emoji23]

How long out of you or for Sleevers?
JordanKylie replied to Sandy Milner's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery last Wednesday and I'm headed back tomorrow for a half shift. I actually work in surgery, doing sleeves, so I think they just want me to come in to see how I'm doing.[emoji23] I told my boss that I've been woozy so hopefully I'll get through it unscathed! -

Thank you for the encouragement! [emoji24] -
I read this on another board and it's odd? But egg drop soup minus the eggy parts has been recommended a lot for people who are like us. It is a little bit more substantial than broth and I was really so hungry so I gave it a try and it does make me feel fuller than broth. I know I can't eat it every day for the next week but just not feeling hungry for a few hours gave me the boost I needed to keep on keeping on. Just a (weird) suggestion!

Gastric Sleeve Nerves and Anxiety! Questions!
JordanKylie replied to nat2013's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 5 days out and I have not had an easy go of it thus far, and I'm not trying to discourage you just so you know. But I was kind of pissed when I had it so rough and all I had been hearing/reading was how easy and gentle it was for everyone. I don't regret it, and I would still do it, and like I said I'm only 5 days out. I guess I'm just trying to say that you should know your journey is uniquely your own and you might not have the easy one but that's okay. No pain no gain! -
I'm 4 days post and dealing with the same struggles. I have 8 more days on a liquid diet before I can move to soft foods. I'm so discouraged and seriously trying not to get super emotional about it. I really hope this next week moves quickly. I don't know how to manage this feeling.

Pain and weight loss
JordanKylie replied to dmclaurin28's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it's different for everybody. But like everyone will say around here, just focus on your fluids and walking a whole bunch and the rest will follow in time [emoji4]
