"Stuck" Explanation please...
wickedme replied to 303'sJourney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The worst times for getting stuck for me is that first bite. If I don't consciously really think about chewing up that first bite I get stuck everytime.. White breads, soft breads or cake like substances are brutally painful and like others have said, you don't need them anyway.. The only liquid that ever seem to help is pineapple juice and was suggested by my doctor.. The acid seems to help break it up. -
Was down another 2.2 lbs, had to change my food choices around a bit, still trying to figure out what works the best and still get all the protein needed!

Kat817,,, Great post,, thank you for your reminder.. I still don't want to settle, but if your looking for someone to always be 100% there is only God who can do that for you.. we are all human and I know there are times where I just have nothing left to give my husband either.

I had to put my two cents in... My DH and I have been together for 13 years with 2 great kids together and I have a step daughter. Nothing in our relationship has been easy, from his daughter being bounced around, to his family and their issues,, my aging and ailing father and my family issues, we struggle all the time. My being banded was suggested due to health issues, but there hasn't been a moment in this process that I haven't thought about what it will be like to be thin and more attractive.. that being said, I was hoping that my husband would change and start telling me how great I was looking and act like he was proud of me,, instead I get off hand comments and short responses only after someone else has said something. When my mother lost 80 lbs in her late 50's after 10 years of being overweight, my father, a man of little words told her everyday of her journey how proud he was of her and how beautiful she was.. he bragged to everyone and it was so amazing to see and hear... Well I want that damn it,, and I deserve it. I didn't just gain this weight because I sat on my ass doing nothing. I had 4 miscarriages, a hysterectomy, endometriosis removal, a broken leg, and years of unending stress from taking care of 3 kids by myself while he worked 6 days a week and slept on the 7th.. I want my husband to tell me I look great and be supportive and encouraging and I have no idea what will happen over the next year if I don't get some of that from him. I'm tired of asking for it and hinting at it, and if anyone else has gone through this and gotten divorced I can completely understand.. It is not what I want in any way, I love him with all my heart.. but even my mother, who believed in true love told me before she passed that love is not everything in a marriage and not to expect less.. My parents had 8 kids and were married for 43 years before she was killed in an accident..

Where were you at 2 months post op?
wickedme posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'll first say I am very proud of my 34 lb. loss, I would never have done it without the band,, at least not this soon, or been able to keep it off.. I just wondering if I am truly at my potential for weight loss. I have had my second fill on 4/27 which I am still getting used to and have been slightly uncomfortable this past week and need to adjust my eating again. I'm not hungry at all which is great, but still feel I am eating too much at a time sometimes. I can't eat any bread and found a certain salad mix that agrees with me and use that as my base for about anything but Soup. I'm not craving carbs very often either which is a whole new thing for me. I'm even eating fish twice a week which I thought I would never do... I keep track of my eating and measurements on sparkpeople.com and have lost a total of 8 inches from my waist,, I was stunned! I've lost 2 from each arm and leg also, and 4 from around my chest,, (back fat be gone!) My hips have only changed a little due to the tummy roll (just one now) Seeing these changes makes me feel insanely great, but when I weigh in, will the doc question the loss? I have been doing Water aerobics and now that the weather here is better, have been working in the yard and doing some more walking.. I can't believe that 34 lbs has changed me this much, and the rod in my leg isn't bothering as much now either!! Where were you at 2 months post op? -

We were doing yard work and my son was helping me put cinder blocks on the corner of the tarp where our garden is going to go,, I told him to lift it,, and he couldn't believe how heavy it was,, then told him it was almost the same amount in weight that I had lost,, I saw this done on biggest loser every season and it is quite a reality check! -
Think last fill too much?
wickedme replied to tjb14's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 4 cc's in a 10 cc band and can eat about 1.5 cups of food 3x daily,, plus small snacks like yogurt 2 x. I am on my 2nd fill and sometimes it is very tight,, weird thing with me is its either around 1 pm or at dinner time instead of in the morning. I don't plan on having a fill any time soon as long as I keep losing. I had my 2nd fill about 2 wks ago and am still experiencing some gurgling, but realized I needed to adjust my portions again. I had about 4 days of PBing once a day, but think I have it under control.. If it starts now I just stop eating and put the food away till it feels better, that is a challenge in itself!! I would say if it stays uncomfortable for another week you might want to talk with the nurse,, I'm going to stick it out for another week too and see if it changes. -
My first 30 lbs are gone as of Thursday! I fought with the last 2 lbs for 2 weeks, but got my first fill on Monday and have regrouped and moving forward. I am definately going back for another fill in 2 weeks as I am still not feeling the restriction. There was some change but not enough, glad to know the option is there. Congrats to everyone,, and the Friday weigh in was a great idea!

1 month post op,, where were you at?
wickedme posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 1 month today and feeling pretty great.. I've lost about 14 since surgery as of a few days ago and am back to exercising, Water aerobics, 40 to 60 minutes 5 days a week. I'm eating reg food for the most part and haven't had any real cravings for anything since the first week.. My calories are around 950 to 1200 with 60 grams of Protein. I was only eating about 900 calories and wasn't losing anything and felt physical pain throughout my whole body most of the day and knew I needed to do something different. I haven't binged or eaten anything bad, but am still concerned to some point that I am eating more then a cup of food per meal, at least at dinner time,, I chew everything to liquid, but hope I haven't stretched my pouch.. I can eat anything,,, except red meat and white and untoasted breads.. I've had a total of 5 pieces of multi grain toast in a month,, and had Pasta twice and rice once... the multi grain pastas didn't bother me at all but the rice gave me cramps.. The only other thing that bothered me was oatmeal! I've eaten it almost everyday for years and now I can't even swallow it without gagging and have no idea why.. I am eating salad and wondered if anyone else is? I am scheduled for my first fill on April 13th and actually can't wait... I think it will help to talk with the doctor about where I'm at.. hope everyone is well -
Day 7 Post Op - Sharp Pain in Center of Chest
wickedme replied to Kage's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had this too and the only thing that helped was to lay on my right side till it went away,, it was the fastest way too.. I'm 4 weeks out today and haven't had that for the past 10 days,, there is still a lot of pulling on the muscle around the port site when I stretch but I am really feeling great! -
Are you mainers ready for spring? How are you all doing??
wickedme posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello all! :lunch: Is everyone ready for the melt? I am so looking forward to a walk on the beach and the sun on my face. Its beautiful today in York county, wish I wasn't working. I'm 2 wks post of and feeling pretty good. The first wk was a struggle, so glad its over. The port pain has mostly subsided, is a dull ache at times and a sharp stab when I move wrong! I'm back to the pool this wk with some water aerobics. When I first got in the water I had some pressure in my chest but it went away. It felt good to be moving around easier. I got a little dehydrated yesterday and need to pay more attention to how much I'm drinking. Eating is interesting, mostly because I can feel satisfied so quickly,, mentally! The first week I thought about food non stop, the 2nd week, I had to work at getting enough in... I know I don't have any restriction because I'm not having any problems with anything mushy at all. I had rye toast last night, first bread in more then a month. I cut it up in squares then chewed to mush.. Hope it doesn't get complicated after the first fill! How is everyone doing?? Drop a note, would love to hear from you all! -

wickedme replied to wickedme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Diana, seems like things are moving right along for you! The wait to meet the surgeon was the longest for me.. I to had to lose 15, but when I met with her I had lost 8 and she said as long as I didn't gain I was okay,, I ended up losing it all anyways which felt great and it was a good boost for my motivation. I'm hoping to have lost a solid 30 by my first fill, and 40 before my 40th. Its still a battle to drink enough liquids, you'd think it would be easy! I never had a problem with it before surgery, but I'm just not thirsty, and I think I was doing a lot of chugging before,, which hurts now! I don't see this being easy anytime soon, but I could never have gotten this far without the band! I'm still nervous about the first fill because I don't know how much I will have to change my current eating plan now that I'm on a good schedule! Best wishes to you, email me with any questions -

a valuable lesson learned
wickedme replied to JENNIFER7375's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I learned this lesson too, but luckily didn't get sick,, Mine was more because I was typing while eating and forgot to chew, I got a tightness in my chest then got nausea, I was able to get up and walk it off.. Lesson learned.. Mine was chicken too! Hope it passed before you got to work! -
Started Mushies and stopped losing weight! help!
wickedme replied to keepingfaith08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use sparkpeople too, its the best calorie counter and you can set your own limits for carbs and proteins too. also a good way to keep track of what your drinking and exercise.. i like to look over the week and see what days were better, and what food choices work the best. -
Hi harold,, had the same issue, my scar was almost concave but I had a huge bulge to the side of it,, when the nurse called to check in on me she told me the port was stitched very tightly to a muscle and it causes the swelling,, and I'm assuming the horrid pulling feeling when you move just the wrong way. I'm only having pain now when I try to lift something on my left side, and its just a dull ache when I sit too long.. be glad when it is gone so I don't have to think about it at all! My incisions are losing their last bit of dry tissue and some you can't even see anymore.. the horrible bruise from the shot to prevent blood clots is still purple and black, it creeps my kids out!

Started Mushies and stopped losing weight! help!
wickedme replied to keepingfaith08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
keeping,, the hip thing is due to sleeping on that side all the time.. its better. my hubby has lost 8 lbs,, hes settling in to the new food in the house I think, isn't complaining at the moment at least. Last night we had cheddar potato Soup,, (made with lowfat cheddar and skim milk) and grilled cheese sandwhices. First bread in more then a month, ate it really slow and chewed it to mush. Feels good to eat semi normal food again, and not that much of it makes it even better. I'm not hungry but know when I have to eat because the gas pains start up again. 1/2 cup of cheerios for Breakfast was good too, still can't believe it is enough! -
Sleeping on side??
wickedme replied to sherryred73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Constipation - few days post op
wickedme replied to ait's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The fiber stuff just made me gassier so I went with my old IBS trick for constipation with an okay from doc,, squash! V8 makes a great summer squash soup, 1/4 cup at a time was good! Its not high in protein, but has fiber. I felt sooo much better after 2 servings of it. -

wickedme replied to keepingfaith08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
According to Doc and everything I have read the body goes into starvation mode at about this point and hordes the calories, its totally normal and I was warned about it. I'm starting mushies too, and its the first day I haven't lost anything, even after a bout with the stomach flu! Can totally relate to you, how is the healing going? Do you still have any port pain issues? I am now able to sleep for a short time on my left side,, my right hip has been killing me! -
I just had my surgery on the 3ed....
wickedme replied to ashleyb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Foremank, sorry your feeling so bad,, what exactly are you eating? I don't think I have heard anyone w/ diarrea, do you have a stomach bug,, its everywhere here! You should check in with the nurse at your docs office right away.. All I've been eating is 1/3 c cottage cheese, 1 sm yogurt, 1/4 to 1/2 cup pureed Soup or similiar, sugar free pops, V8 cream Soups 1/3 cup at a time, broths and EAS advant shakes 1/3 cup at a time,, talked with the nurse yesterday and she okay'd everything, said I could swim for a short amount at a time at the 10 day if I was up for it.. -

I had a rough night last night, still not sure why.. My left side started hurting as soon as I went to bed and my stomach swelled up. I got up and walked around but it made it worse,, it was more then an hour before I dozed off sitting up in bed,, I was finally able to lay on my right side and slept restlessly till 2 am when my son woke me cuz he has the stomach flu... EEEEEEEK,, I sent he and my husband to the couch. I was able to get a little more sleep and felt horrid that I couldn't comfort my baby, but I am terrified of getting that right now, and daddy took care of him. Anyone have that kind of pain? I'm really constipated even with the softeners so maybey it was gas? -

wickedme replied to ashleyb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 days post op too Ashley, and about where you are,, better then yesterday but still crappy. I'm walking a little easier, but find the pain meds make me nauseous. Still gassy and feel like I need to burp all the time. I'm drinking broths, Protein shakes, G2 for dehydration and lots of Water. I had a yogurt yesterday to stop the cravings. I'm glad its the weekend, I don't plan on doing anything but laying around. I had to go in the office today to do the banking and return phone calls,, everyone has been real patient with me,, kept my hospital bracelet on just in case someone was a jerk! I was foolish to think this wasn't going to hurt for awhile!! -
My surgery is tomorrow 3/3, any last minute advice or suggestions?
wickedme posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm in the anxious mode, but not scared or nervous.. I've been through both, asked myself yesterday if I was ready, and I am. The answer I gave myself was "MY love of Food", though great and comforting it is, is not worth me missing out on my life, or my kids life. It should not control me or comfort me. I can enjoy the tastes of great food for what it is,, just a taste sensation, but I can not let it be as important as I have made it ever again. I am on my second of 5 shakes, and 2nd bottle of water. I am packing an overnight bag w/ pillow and my own blanket in case I have to stay, but that is unlikely. With all the fluids I have been drinking I am pretty sure I have flushed out whatever needed to be flushed out, and hope that I did well enough on the pre op so that my liver is where it should be. Is there anything I should bring that I wouldn't have thought of already.. got chap stick and eye drops, loose clothing and pillow,, I've stocked up on pre made EAS Avant Edge shakes, broth, clear soups, sugar free jello,, need more sugar free pops and water. Stocked the freezer for hubby and the kids and cleaned the whole house.. Laundry will be caught up tonight too.. I also stocked my dads freezer and showed my sister what needed to be done for him, and prepared my office to be closed for 2 days,, will answer the phones, but thankfully I don't have a physical job . I need to send a family email out tonight,, there are a few I haven't told about my surgery,, weird because I have told perfect strangers at the gym!! One is my sister who I love dearly, but I knew she would worry and try to talk me out of it and I just wasn't up for that... She couldn't have changed my mind anyways, but I didn't want to go through the awkwardness of it.. So, now I've babbled,, let me know if I've missed anything...
