"Stuck" Explanation please...
wickedme replied to 303'sJourney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The worst times for getting stuck for me is that first bite. If I don't consciously really think about chewing up that first bite I get stuck everytime.. White breads, soft breads or cake like substances are brutally painful and like others have said, you don't need them anyway.. The only liquid that ever seem to help is pineapple juice and was suggested by my doctor.. The acid seems to help break it up. -
Was down another 2.2 lbs, had to change my food choices around a bit, still trying to figure out what works the best and still get all the protein needed!

Kat817,,, Great post,, thank you for your reminder.. I still don't want to settle, but if your looking for someone to always be 100% there is only God who can do that for you.. we are all human and I know there are times where I just have nothing left to give my husband either.

I had to put my two cents in... My DH and I have been together for 13 years with 2 great kids together and I have a step daughter. Nothing in our relationship has been easy, from his daughter being bounced around, to his family and their issues,, my aging and ailing father and my family issues, we struggle all the time. My being banded was suggested due to health issues, but there hasn't been a moment in this process that I haven't thought about what it will be like to be thin and more attractive.. that being said, I was hoping that my husband would change and start telling me how great I was looking and act like he was proud of me,, instead I get off hand comments and short responses only after someone else has said something. When my mother lost 80 lbs in her late 50's after 10 years of being overweight, my father, a man of little words told her everyday of her journey how proud he was of her and how beautiful she was.. he bragged to everyone and it was so amazing to see and hear... Well I want that damn it,, and I deserve it. I didn't just gain this weight because I sat on my ass doing nothing. I had 4 miscarriages, a hysterectomy, endometriosis removal, a broken leg, and years of unending stress from taking care of 3 kids by myself while he worked 6 days a week and slept on the 7th.. I want my husband to tell me I look great and be supportive and encouraging and I have no idea what will happen over the next year if I don't get some of that from him. I'm tired of asking for it and hinting at it, and if anyone else has gone through this and gotten divorced I can completely understand.. It is not what I want in any way, I love him with all my heart.. but even my mother, who believed in true love told me before she passed that love is not everything in a marriage and not to expect less.. My parents had 8 kids and were married for 43 years before she was killed in an accident..

We were doing yard work and my son was helping me put cinder blocks on the corner of the tarp where our garden is going to go,, I told him to lift it,, and he couldn't believe how heavy it was,, then told him it was almost the same amount in weight that I had lost,, I saw this done on biggest loser every season and it is quite a reality check! -

I'll first say I am very proud of my 34 lb. loss, I would never have done it without the band,, at least not this soon, or been able to keep it off.. I just wondering if I am truly at my potential for weight loss. I have had my second fill on 4/27 which I am still getting used to and have been slightly uncomfortable this past week and need to adjust my eating again. I'm not hungry at all which is great, but still feel I am eating too much at a time sometimes. I can't eat any bread and found a certain salad mix that agrees with me and use that as my base for about anything but Soup. I'm not craving carbs very often either which is a whole new thing for me. I'm even eating fish twice a week which I thought I would never do... I keep track of my eating and measurements on sparkpeople.com and have lost a total of 8 inches from my waist,, I was stunned! I've lost 2 from each arm and leg also, and 4 from around my chest,, (back fat be gone!) My hips have only changed a little due to the tummy roll (just one now) Seeing these changes makes me feel insanely great, but when I weigh in, will the doc question the loss? I have been doing Water aerobics and now that the weather here is better, have been working in the yard and doing some more walking.. I can't believe that 34 lbs has changed me this much, and the rod in my leg isn't bothering as much now either!! Where were you at 2 months post op? -
Think last fill too much?
wickedme replied to tjb14's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 4 cc's in a 10 cc band and can eat about 1.5 cups of food 3x daily,, plus small snacks like yogurt 2 x. I am on my 2nd fill and sometimes it is very tight,, weird thing with me is its either around 1 pm or at dinner time instead of in the morning. I don't plan on having a fill any time soon as long as I keep losing. I had my 2nd fill about 2 wks ago and am still experiencing some gurgling, but realized I needed to adjust my portions again. I had about 4 days of PBing once a day, but think I have it under control.. If it starts now I just stop eating and put the food away till it feels better, that is a challenge in itself!! I would say if it stays uncomfortable for another week you might want to talk with the nurse,, I'm going to stick it out for another week too and see if it changes. -
My first 30 lbs are gone as of Thursday! I fought with the last 2 lbs for 2 weeks, but got my first fill on Monday and have regrouped and moving forward. I am definately going back for another fill in 2 weeks as I am still not feeling the restriction. There was some change but not enough, glad to know the option is there. Congrats to everyone,, and the Friday weigh in was a great idea!

1 month post op,, where were you at?
wickedme posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 1 month today and feeling pretty great.. I've lost about 14 since surgery as of a few days ago and am back to exercising, Water aerobics, 40 to 60 minutes 5 days a week. I'm eating reg food for the most part and haven't had any real cravings for anything since the first week.. My calories are around 950 to 1200 with 60 grams of Protein. I was only eating about 900 calories and wasn't losing anything and felt physical pain throughout my whole body most of the day and knew I needed to do something different. I haven't binged or eaten anything bad, but am still concerned to some point that I am eating more then a cup of food per meal, at least at dinner time,, I chew everything to liquid, but hope I haven't stretched my pouch.. I can eat anything,,, except red meat and white and untoasted breads.. I've had a total of 5 pieces of multi grain toast in a month,, and had Pasta twice and rice once... the multi grain pastas didn't bother me at all but the rice gave me cramps.. The only other thing that bothered me was oatmeal! I've eaten it almost everyday for years and now I can't even swallow it without gagging and have no idea why.. I am eating salad and wondered if anyone else is? I am scheduled for my first fill on April 13th and actually can't wait... I think it will help to talk with the doctor about where I'm at.. hope everyone is well -
Day 7 Post Op - Sharp Pain in Center of Chest
wickedme replied to Kage's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had this too and the only thing that helped was to lay on my right side till it went away,, it was the fastest way too.. I'm 4 weeks out today and haven't had that for the past 10 days,, there is still a lot of pulling on the muscle around the port site when I stretch but I am really feeling great! -
Are you mainers ready for spring? How are you all doing??
wickedme replied to wickedme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Diana, seems like things are moving right along for you! The wait to meet the surgeon was the longest for me.. I to had to lose 15, but when I met with her I had lost 8 and she said as long as I didn't gain I was okay,, I ended up losing it all anyways which felt great and it was a good boost for my motivation. I'm hoping to have lost a solid 30 by my first fill, and 40 before my 40th. Its still a battle to drink enough liquids, you'd think it would be easy! I never had a problem with it before surgery, but I'm just not thirsty, and I think I was doing a lot of chugging before,, which hurts now! I don't see this being easy anytime soon, but I could never have gotten this far without the band! I'm still nervous about the first fill because I don't know how much I will have to change my current eating plan now that I'm on a good schedule! Best wishes to you, email me with any questions -
could you have had the stomach flu?? its rampid around here and some have a fever some don't. Hope you are feeling better..

a valuable lesson learned
wickedme replied to JENNIFER7375's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I learned this lesson too, but luckily didn't get sick,, Mine was more because I was typing while eating and forgot to chew, I got a tightness in my chest then got nausea, I was able to get up and walk it off.. Lesson learned.. Mine was chicken too! Hope it passed before you got to work!
