Kaytaree replied to lellow's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Looks like everyone is doing great! Congrats! I am just checking in. I am getting closer and closer to my goal of 138. Stayed the same for the past month and now the scale is starting to move again. Yay...lost 4lbs...and only 6 more to go to hit the big 100lb mark. I am getting excited...have run into people recently that I have't seen in over 8-12 months and actually seen them do a double take...didn't think that would ever happen thinking back over a year ago when i was thinking about the band...people have been awesome with the encouragement and praise... Thank you Lily !!!! (my name for my band)!!!! -
Just an update and a Non scale Victory. I didn't make my one year goal of 100 lbs but I am now in the 160s! (having lost 92 pounds so far) Yippee!!! I have 30 more to go. I chose that weight because that is the weight I was when I got married. I guess it was a way to erase many unhappy years in my life. Well over the years of a stressful and unhappy marriage, I gained the weight...had a beautiful son during that marriage...and started over with practically nothing after 11 years. I used the money from the sale of our house to do something for me for a change...wanted my health back for the sake of my son whom I love with all my heart. My little guy is very proud of me. His arms go all the way around me plus some now. I have a non scale victory to share. My weight loss gave me a lot of confidence. I wasn't looking to meet anyone since I was separated almost 2 years ago. (divorce is in process of being finalized soon) Never told my "soon to be ex" about the band. Of course he has never mentioned my weight loss but I know he noticed because I don't get texts or email or phone calls with him calling me "fat ass" any more...What A Jerk...!!! lol Well after losing 92 pounds... I have gained 180lbs of sheer delight...:wub:met a fellow 16 years younger than me who gave me the best compliment I could ever had...told me I was "just right" and didn't need to lose any more. ...never have been told that before...wow...I spent my "birthday" with him under a Golden Moon...(really was gold and full too) what a cool coincindence!... The cool part about this is I met him online in May and just connected in such a mental way...it was crazy... sent him my old fat picture even...so that was his first impression...and he liked me anyway. I am babbling here...I guess that is what love does...lol Keep up the good work everyone...and enjoy every little victory that all our hard work does to make us healthy and enriches our lives.

My anniversary is coming up on August 5th. I had mine done in Tijuana Mexico at a fantasic hospital. As I type this I am amazed that I have come so far...couldn't' have done it I know without my new friend. It seemed slow at the time but as I look back I see it was just slow and steady and the results are fantastic. I have lost 90 lbs!! One more pound and I will be in the 160s. Before I was happy to be in wonderland...lol My original goal was to be 100 pounds lighter by my band birthday...don't think I will make that but I am very close...so I am happy...My final goal is now only 32 pounds away...I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now! I hope everyone has enjoyed thier journey this past year and have all become healthier and happier.!

Who's Getting Banded in August???
Kaytaree replied to Tracyde730's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't been on this thread in a while. It has been quite a journey since August. I am happy I had my band done. So far I have lost 55 pounds. It is strange because I stay the same for a while then suddenly a little comes off. But the fact that the most I only ever backtrack is a couple pounds is the best and that is not too often thank goodness. We all just have to plug away and it will happen. -
I finally got the scale to move. I lost 2 pounds. 6 more to go for the Valentine challenge.
-
I would like to be part of the challenge. I would like to lose 8 pounds by Valentine's Day. I have been slacking a little so a challenge will help me.
-
Add me to the challenge! I just got my second fill and now I think I have restriction again. I want to try and lose 12 pounds by New Years!
-
Hi Yolanda! I had my first fill finally. They only put in 1 cc so I am not sure yet if I have restriction. How much did you get in yours? Have you lost any more weight?
-
I notice that I have a little dizzyness when I first get up too sometimes. I tend to run low normal for BP so maybe that is it. I don't use as much salt as I used to either (not eating all that bad food to put the salt on) YIPPEEv:smile2: I go for my first fill in a few days so I will ask the Dr. about it.
-
Sorry you had a bad experience. Try Panera's. I asked for tuna by itself and it was only about 1.50. Also I went to Cc's pizza with my son and asked the manager for a kid meal because of the band and he was so nice. I was proud that I only ate a kid portion too. I havn't had my first fill yet so it was tempting to say the least to eat more but I wanted to be honest. I also used my card at another restaurant and got a child meal and only ate half and took half home. I think it is good to educate servers. I think it is all in the way you ask.

Who's Getting Banded in August???
Kaytaree replied to Tracyde730's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I go for my first fill October 14th. I am excited. It took a while to find a reasonably priced fill Dr that wasn't too far to drive. Right now I am in that twilight stage where I can eat more but still feel some restriction. I can't wait to get the "show on the road" ! -
I had my first couple weird experiences. A week ago I was getting my boy off to school and tried a half a piece of grain toast. I learned you don't eat when you are in a hurry.... Suddenly I felt slime come up once then again with the bite of toast. It was strange because there really was no warning except the the slime then it was just like reversing a movie. No pain or anything. My second experience was the other day. I had company over to eat and he got some exciting news and I must have taken too big of a bite of chicken. I got a lot of pressure in my chest. It was really uncomfortable. My friend said go lay down and I must of looked crazy the way I said NOOOOOO! I wanted some gravity action !!! Well it only lasted about 2 minutes. I was really glad about that. I have learned never to eat too fast ot not to chew well, that's for sure.

Who's Getting Banded in August???

Hi, I was banded on August 5th too. We now have the same "birthday" ! How are you healing so far? I feel good and have just been maintaining until my first fill and just gettin used to this new way of eating. -
Hi, I had my band done on August 5th too (the 6th is my birthday) so it was my present to myself. My soreness is at the biggest incision too but just on certain movements and not all the time. I thought the biggest incision is where they put the band in and the port is lower down and not right under the incison. Does anyone else have thiers like this?
-
I hope you feel better soon. I just had my band done on the 5th but had 2 days in the hospital to rest and wish everybody could have this. It seems that insurance companies want to save so much money. People really need to rest and be cared for after the lap band. It will get better. Just rest and take your medicine. Mary
