It is totally safe to take softeners with miralax. I would start with both and see how it goes. Also, Miralax doesnโ€™t work for everyone. Be open to trying different stuff until you find the mix that works for you. Hope it all works out! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ’ฉ

    Major Changes Are Frightening...

I am 10 months post-op and I eat/drink everything I used to, but in MUCH smaller portions. I was really busy yesterday and struggling to get calories in so I grabbed a slice of pizza from Whole Foods. I ate less than half of it and gave the rest to Husband (I got full AND it was too greasy for my taste). I hosted a dinner party last night and ate pie with ice cream for dessert with our guests (I do not dump). I am trying to stop losing weight right now, so I am eating more carbs than I have in months. I still follow the protein first rule, though. You will be able to enjoy some of the things you love in the future and you might be surprised on how your tastes change. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Absolutely gorgeous location and you look sophisticated as usual! I do not think you need surgery or look like a grandmother, but that comment would probably tip me over for a facelift too. ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ As usual, love the shoes. โค๏ธโค๏ธ ps. I am a step-grandmother๐Ÿ˜‚

I donโ€™t take fiber supplements because I find they back me up. I do drink Smooth Move tea most nights, and take a senna tablet on the nights I donโ€™t. Since WLS, I find not going for more than two days is radically uncomfortable for me. The times I miss my tea or tablet typically results in days of misery getting back on track. I go most mornings with my tea or tablet and I am a happy pooper! ๐Ÿ’ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

    Nothing lost

My scale did not drop for the first week post-op, and then it was just a couple of pounds. At nine months post-op I still had reached my goal weight. @catwoman7is exactly right. Hang in there!

This is a weird new feeling.....

Early on I could barely eat one egg, if I ate it really slowly. I still struggle with more than one egg at a time. Definitely sounds like overfill. Arenโ€™t the noises charming?? ๐Ÿคฃ One poster described the noises their stomach now makes as the sounds of deep sea creatures mating...that pretty much sums it up at my house. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
  8. Yesterday at my vascular surgeonโ€™s office, one of the front desk staff members was doing my COVID screening at the door and said โ€œI didnโ€™t realize how tiny you are.โ€ At 5โ€™8โ€, I honestly canโ€™t recall ever being called tiny. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Love your curves in that denim dress @BayougirlMrsS! My contribution today is the after varicose vein ablation and removal edition. ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„ I will be sporting this knee high wrap for the next 2 weeks. I threw in a before pic as well to show how bad my veins were, complete with phlebitis. So glad this is done, as I have been in pain for about 10 years from this. I am in pain from the procedure now, but hopeful I will soon not have pain in this leg anymore. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

What's the deal with "Straws vs No Straws"

My water bottle has a straw. I used it immediately post-op and still do. I does not cause me discomfort and definitely does not cause me discomfort. I feel like I drink more water with a straw ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

    Are Smart Scales Worth it?

I have a renpho. Like $30 on Amazon. I like it. I know they are not perfect for body composition, but it is awesome for tracking trends.

    Fitness watch.

I also adore my Apple Watch for fitness tracking. Some of the older versions are more affordable and you probably donโ€™t need anything but the WiFi version. The WiFi version links to my phone for texts, calls, etc.

Dinner. Creamy curry quinoa with currants, oven roasted veg., pot roast, and baked tofu. Stuff to make meals with all week for husband and me. Be surprised...I ate it all. And I liked it. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

    Joing a gym

I joined Planet Fitness about two months after surgery. They do not offer any significant support except through the app. I have worked out a good deal previously, so Iโ€™m ok with the low support. I watch other people work out, research their exercises (weights), and incorporate if they work for me. I love my Planet Fitness. It is huge, and not busy. Worked out at The Y about 20 years ago. I had a trainer there, and I liked it. Have no idea what it looks like post-Covid. Planet Fitness is very low key and I like it. Figure out what โ€œvibeโ€ suits you, and go with it. You will not go if it makes you feel uncomfortable or it is inconvenient. Best to you with your workouts!

    Medication After Surgery

My surgeon and PCP had me stop my metformin when I started my pre-op diet and my hydrochlorothiazide the day of surgery. I have not had to go back on either. I never missed more than one or two doses of the hydrochlorothiazide though, so I donโ€™t know if I had a reaction similar to yours. Since it is tough to meet fluid goals early on, it definitely made sense to me to stop the diuretic with surgery. It is easy enough to restart if you find you are needing it. Please discuss with your PCP and follow their guidance. Best to you with your surgery! ๐Ÿ’•

    Embarrassing

Agree with @catwoman7. Check with your PCP. You need a urinalysis, which they can usually get in office. Good luck! ๐Ÿ’•

    Scared of losing weight

Catwoman is right. Lots of factors go into amount and appearance of loose skin as you lose weight. Everyone is different. Here is my take: I have loose skin on my tummy, completely deflated boobs, the loose skin on my very toned thighs jiggles as I walk, and my butt๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ The loose skin on my butt causes me to feel like I am sitting on something lumpy all the time. The butt issue is really the only thing uncomfortable for me. The rest is cosmetic only. I am also the healthiest I have been in my life. I am no longer diabetic. My blood pressure is on the low side of normal and my cholesterol is perfect without any medications (I took meds for both, before). I no longer have sleep apnea. I am scheduled for plastic surgery at the end of May, but I would still be ecstatic with my new body, even if I could not have plastic surgery. My husband is very supportive and we laugh a lot about my loose skin. Other than true body-con clothing, you canโ€™t see the loose skin in my clothes. I would rather have good health than the ability to wear body-con clothes. Check out my pics below. I lost 120 pounds-ish. I will say, at some phases during my weight loss process, I did have some pretty bad dysmorphia related to the lumps and bumps from loose skin, but it did get better. All the best to you as you lose weight. ๐Ÿ˜Š

    Food Before and After Photos

Welcome! I am almost 10 months post-op and I eat both cooked and raw cabbage all the time. I canโ€™t tell you when I started eating cabbage post-op, but I really had minimal veg the first couple months due to lack of space, so probably very small amounts around two months. Please show us your shakshuka when you make it. ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜Š

    Post-op question

The only severe pain I had was stomach spasms as I awoke from anesthesia. The nurse gave me some IV pain medication. That was the only time I had more than mild pain/discomfort. I also had a hiatal hernia repaired during my surgery, which might have had something to do with the severe pain I had ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ After that, I was very comfortable with oral pain relievers from my surgeon, and then Tylenol after a few days. I walked a lot and did not have much discomfort from gas.
  24. Refried beans with a bit of cheese on top was my FAVORITE at that time. Everything else food-wise was pretty hit or miss. I could eat some fruit, very few veggies, sometimes eggs or chicken, sometimes not. I also ate a lot of seared scallops then. They never revisited me. Hummus usually did alright, but I literally ate it with a spoon. Proteins drinks were still needed to get me to my protein goals. Please discuss with your surgeon if you continue to vomit frequently. ๐Ÿ’•

    Exercise routines??

I started out with Leslie Sansome walking videos on YouTube. Now I run, do traditional and functional strength training, walk, use other cardio equipment at the gym, run stairs, do HIIT, core, and yoga videos on Apple fitness plus. I exercise most days for at least an hour, with focus on strength training two days per week (sometimes three). The Leslie Sansome videos were perfect when I was just starting out. Figure out what you enjoy and keep doing it. As you gain more fitness, more activities will become pleasurable. Happy exercising! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’•
