Not an especially amazing outfit, but...I haven’t been able to wear the t-shirt in over 10 years. I have a stack of t-shirts from the last time I was at this weight. For some reason, I just couldn’t get rid of them. 😬 The only thing keeping the jeans from the floor is a belt, though😂 In the background, you can see one of three packed contractors garbage bags filled with clothes that are too big! Yay!

Cough, Diarrhea, no appetite, too many pills

Sounds like you have things as under control as possible. 😊 Things will get easier! -
Not affected by alcohol
WishMeSmaller replied to LAJ23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agreed on this not sounding like alcoholism issue. Just talking about why it is a no-no early post-op. I don’t think a couple sips of anything is going be a big issue. I have had tiny sips of my husband’s beer and wine since surgery, probably less than a tablespoon collectively. I think the dangerous part is if everything goes ok, it seems ok to have more. Tek, you and Ms. Mocie can take this further if you want. I’m out😊 -
Not affected by alcohol
WishMeSmaller replied to LAJ23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think where @MsMocie was going is that alcohol can be extremely hard on the mucus membranes of your upper GI tract. This in turn causes erosion, especially in areas of healing suture or staple lines. Erosion can cause ulceration of this healing tissue and lead to GI bleeds. Many GI bleeds can be life threatening and are very common in heavy drinkers. A newly healing suture/staple line mixed with alcohol can speed up this erosive process, so you don’t have to consume much, which is why there is danger in alcohol consumption those first few months. Please correct me if I was off base on where you were going @MsMocie. Hope that helps, Tek. 😊 -
Cough, Diarrhea, no appetite, too many pills
WishMeSmaller replied to OnMyWay1956's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was hoping someone else would mention it, but I don’t think anyone has yet. I am actually concerned about you having a cough AND diarrhea. This could be a virus of some sort or something more serious. If it persists, it is definitely worth a call to your surgeon. There are many different things that can cause the symptoms you are having, and it is best to get medical advice from your medical provider as they are more qualified than us (😊) and they know your medical history. Enjoy the lack of appetite! Mine never went away, although I am satisfied so much quicker than before. For pills, definitely space them out to get them in. It used to take me 30 minutes to take my morning meds. Now, at almost 3 months out, I take them in 5-10 minutes. For comparison, I take 8 pills in the morning, including vitamins. Check with your surgeon or primary care provider in case certain meds are better at a particular time or should not be taken with something else. -
Agree with @catwoman7. I use 2% plain Greek yogurt, specifically the brand Fage. A week or two ago mixed it with lime juice, salt, garlic powder, and some hot sauce (used sriracha), to make a creamy, chili, lime dressing/dip/sauce. It was amazing. I used it for salad dressing, fish taco sauce, and on a chicken burger patty. You can basically use plain Greek yogurt to replace mayo or sour cream in most dip/dressing recipes. I have been meaning to try to use it as a base to create a Cesar salad dressing, but haven’t gotten around to it yet. If you like hummus, that is always a good dip too, and it’s easy to make if you are feeling like doing so. Good luck!

Please share your cheesecake recipe. Yum! 🤤 -
Try herbal teas instead of decaf black. It might help with the heartburn. Both ginger and mint can be soothing for digestion. You could also try infusing your own water with firm melon chunks or cucumber. It should not add significant sugars or kcals if you don’t eat the fruit.

I used the baked version of this one. 😬 https://cookieandkate.com/best-frittata-recipe/ I oven roasted my veggies first as I like the roasted flavor and the resulting dryness after a good roast. I used three cups of the cooked veggies. I also skipped the herbs because I did not have any fresh and could not decide what would go best with my combo. Otherwise, I followed the recipe linked above. Hubby used pieces to make burritos and was very happy. -
I take two stool softeners per day and drink smooth move tea most evenings. Unfortunately, Miralax did not work for me. I also tried Milk of Magnesia, and Dulcolax. The tea with stool softeners is my preference after all of my trials💩💩 Hope everything comes out ok! Pun intended😬

DON'T WANT TO LOSE MY HAIR, JUST THE WEIGHT
WishMeSmaller replied to LandoLivie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The hair will grow back and you will be lighter and healthier. 😬 I am almost 3 mos. post-op. I am definitely shedding more hair than usual right now and have a shorter haircut planned, if needed, due to thinning hair. So far I don’t think it is that bad, but I may just cut my hair off anyhow to go along with my more than 55 pound weight loss. I would take the trade off any day! Good luck in your process! Ps. I am taking biotin, but honestly doubt it truly helps. -

July 2020 Surgery anyone?
WishMeSmaller replied to IWantTheDream's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I sometimes have that feeling when I eat meat proteins, but sometimes other stuff will do it too. It helps if eat very slowly. When I do get that feeling, sometimes I do vomit. Either way, walking around seems to help. -

Excuse the crummy photos. First up is a veggie and cheese frittata I made for the week. Veggies are asparagus, baby portobellos, and leaks. Used about 4 oz pre-shredded Swiss-Gruyere cheese blend from Trader Joe’s. Each square is about 150kcals. Yummy. Second up is my green protein smoothie. Also about 150 kcals made with A scoop of Genepro in a cup of water, half a frozen banana (I weigh before freezing for tracking), about a cup of raw spinach, 0.5 tablespoons of chia seeds, some stevia, and a few ice cubes. I have one most days. Not exciting tasting, but I am somewhat addicted to them 🤷♀️ -
Required PRE Ops Weight Loss
WishMeSmaller replied to sarahredwood's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly, I am thinking your nutritionist might just be exaggerating things. Unless your surgeon told you this rule right up front, I would think showing you were able to lose some weight would be a good thing. I gained weight in the six months from my initial visit with the surgeon and my pre-op appt. (COVID, working from home, stress eating). I was mildly scolded at my pre-op appt. and then I lost 15 pounds on my two week pre-op diet., which met expectations. Talk to your surgeon’s office and follow your plan. Hope everything works out ok! -
🤣 already ordered one🤣🤣🤣

Pretty interesting. I know as you age your body fat does (and should) increase to provide reserves. We will see where I end up at age 47. I would be pretty happy to get and maintain below 30%. I guess I need one of those scales😂

Recipe review😬 I used the products below to make these. IMO, cook time of twelve minutes in my air fryer is too long. They have a slight bitter/burnt flavor. Cooked in batches due to air fryer size. Second batch I watched closely to achieve less burnt flavor. Probably about 11 mins and more in basket as I guess my first half was smaller. See photos. Notes: Watch closely during cooking to achieve best taste/texture. Does not taste anything like Fritos, but was not really expecting lentil pasta to taste like corn chip. 😂Pretty tasty and easy for a crunchy, salty snack. Very filling! I ate probably 15 pieces during preparation to get cooking and seasoning right. I am very full now 😬 @GreenTealael, thank you for sharing the recipe! 😀 -

@GreenTealael, BTW, I did get the zero carb bread from BariatricPal. It is Ok. I obviously can not compare it to the Aldi variety, so it “may” be comparable. 🤷♀️ Unfortunately, it does give me a belly ache after about a half a slice. I ended up getting a regular old loaf of Ezekiel bread and have a slice of that when I “must” have real bread. It obviously has carbs and more calories, but I have a slice and don’t crave it very often...like less than once a week. No guilt for me since it is such a rare treat. I toast it and spread with cream cheese, sprinkle with Everything But the Bagel, and top with deli sliced ham. I had one slice of the zero carb bread with a bit of low sugar jam. Once again, just ok, and had a belly ache. No thanks. 😬 -
Struggling with keeping my head in the game
WishMeSmaller replied to mil_unloaded's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good job on losing instead of gaining! Your PCP is right. Call your surgeon’s office and see where they are at with what you have already lost. I gained weight from my first visit with the surgeon and my pre-op visit for many of the same reasons you have been struggling...stress and some depression. Then I lost 15 pounds on my two week liquid pre-op diet and was right where they wanted me. I had three Bariatric Advantage shakes per day. I was also allowed non-starchy veggies prepared with no fat or sugars. I am a nurse in Nevada. While we have not had fires nearby recently, our air quality has been horrendous with smoke blowing in from California. Hang in there! -
July 2020 Surgery anyone?
WishMeSmaller replied to IWantTheDream's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
While I haven’t had a true stall, sometimes I only lose like one pound in a week. My biggest gripe is the weird looking fat distribution as I lose weight. I call them my lumps and bumps. Lol. Really hard to feel good about how I look due to the fatty lumps and bumps, but I know as a whole I look a lot better 50 pounds smaller. 😊😊 -

Feeling great and watching the numbers on the scale drop! It is very surreal losing weight while not feeling deprived or lacking energy. I wish I had done this years ago! How are you doing? Anyone else out there from July? -

RBG is a hero. A very sad day indeed. Glad your dinner was good! 🤗 -
At this point, you should probably get in with your PCP ASAP. It definitely sounds like you should have your stool checked for infection. If the surgeon’s office is not helping with your concerns, go elsewhere. With all of the diarrhea you have had, you might be significantly dehydrated at this point or even have dangerous electrolyte imbalances. In fact, as I write this, I am thinking you should probably just go to ER where they can give you IV fluids and check you electrolytes levels, as well as do some imaging if needed. Please get some help urgently! 🤗

Salad. Napa cabbage. Red and orange bell pepper. Black beans. Cotija cheese. Dressing made with low fat Greek yogurt, lime juice, and spices. 150 kcals. I am going to eat all of it, even if I take two hours 😬yummy In a biggish pasta bowl for scale.
