    Alcoholic Drinks

Make yourself some low sugar sangria with dry red wine and diet orange soda. The bubbles from the orange soda are minimal to non-existent when mixed with the wine. I like about 60-40 wine to soda mix, but adjust to suit your tastes. This was just my go to while camping over the 4th. Alcohol hits me way harder these days, so use caution.

As another RN working in public health, I can concur that the Delta variant is no joke. One of the infectious disease docs I work with also works at a local VA. A small department there collectively opted to not vaccinate, except for one person. All 7 people in the department contracted the Delta variant. So far, two are dead (young and healthy), two more have been hospitalized, and only the vaccinated person was asymptotic, although they tested positive. I really do not like those odds. So glad all the fam and I are fully vaccinated. Also, as someone who had COVID, I can also attest to the fact that the side effects from the vaccine (yes, I did have horrible body aches and headaches with both doses), were far superior to having COVID.

Ha…I was also craving a dog. 😊 Something about summer, perhaps? Had half a dog the other day to scratch that itch 😂

    Lost my bum

I always had a butt. When I was in my 20’s and normal weight (150), I actually had a guy, at a club, tell me I had a big butt. It was acknowledged all around that I had a moderately big butt. I figured I would still have a butt after WLS, but I was wrong. 😭 It is gone. I do resistance training specifically to to strengthen, shape, and increase size of said butt, and I think it has helped. I has plastic surgery a month ago including a belt lipectomy in order to get rid of the loose skin on my butt (it was super uncomfortable to sit on). I now have a 20-something year old, tiny butt😂 The struggle is real. I also lost of of my breasts, going from a 40DD to a 34A. My recent plastic surgery fixed that though, with lift and augmentation. Yay for plastic surgery! Below is my post-plastic surgery butt. I have found it looks best in cheeky bikini bottoms, as the lower part of my butt is the only part with ANY shape. Also shown is my pre-plastics butt, complete with sagging skin. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Well I am pretty much jealous of anyone with pigment in their skin, and/or the ability to tan. Pretty much super powers to someone like me 😂😂

  8. As of this morning, I have achieved my self-determined goal weight of 150 pounds. My surgery date was 7/6/2020, so I am just under 8 months. I am as fit as I have ever been, and feel great. I do have loose, saggy skin, which I hope PS will correct. My tummy does not look too bad when I stand upright, but look out if I bend over. 😱 My boobs are sad, pathetic socks of flesh. But my butt...holy crap I wasn’t expecting all the loose skin back there. 😭😭😭 It is so uncomfortable to sit or lay on folds of extra skin. The butt issue is uncomfortable enough that I am somewhat rushing towards PS, starting with a lower body lift, breast lift/augmentation at the end of May. My thighs look kind of crappy, but I would like to avoid a thigh lift and I am hopeful the lower body lift and time will help their appearance. My arms have some loose skin, but at this point I am ok with them. I hate the loose skin on my neck and I will probably end up having a neck lift at some point, but I am also hopeful time will help. I am no longer trying to lose weight, but I haven’t found the sweet spot with maintenance diet. I am not tracking food and basically eat what I want, in small portions. I do not dump, but too much sugar and/or fat in one sitting makes me feel like crap. I used to drink wine pretty much every day. Since a few months after surgery, I have a a glass or two of wine a few times per month. I am still exercising a lot and I enjoy pushing my body. I do all sorts of exercise, including traditional and functional strength training, running, walking, yoga, all of the different cardio machines at the gym, HIIT. I can’t wait for summer to pack in some hiking. In December I went snowboarding for the first time in about 7 years. I am looking forward to more time on the snow in March. Anyhow, here are some before and after pics...

Thank you! 💕💕💕🥰 Lovely on the bed is my little brown dog Henry. He is very attached to me. We have a big, black and white dog (Jed) too, but he is not so mommy-centric…unless I have food or treats or his leash or his ball. 😂😂

    Swollen belly!

My belly was really swollen for a good week after my bypass. It might be more trapped air from your surgery, along with general surgical swelling. Best to check with your surgeon. 😊

Reactive hypoglycemia, anemia, and PS updates

You are right. I need to track intake. I just don’t want to do it. I have been really busy and pretty much will be super busy until mid-August. It feels like a hard thing to commit to when I will be on the go with parties, camping, and vacation. I will try to track for a week, just to see what my cals look like, and go from there. I do need some data to adjust from. Whaaaa😭

Reactive hypoglycemia, anemia, and PS updates

Yep…constantly feeling like I want to cry, frustration with not having my normal energy levels, disinterest in preparing and eating food. Nice to know I am not the first to feel like this post-ps. 1500 calories not enough??? 😭😭😭 It is already a damn struggle. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ I don’t want to track calories😒😒 (petulant and whining). I guess I will just eat more peanut butter🤷‍♀️😂😂😂

Ideas for purée and soft food diet

Chicken can be pretty hard for a lot of us early on. Agree with @Arabesque about purée with liquid or some sort of moisture for best results. Take it really slow, too. When things don’t sit well, it can be a very miserable experience and you can hurt yourself this early out. Good luck! 😊

Reactive hypoglycemia, anemia, and PS updates

Thank you for the kind words and encouragement @ms.sss 💕💕 This 💩 has been hard! I honestly have no idea where my daily calories are😂 I have been so hungry/not hungry and fatigued that I don’t feel like preparing real food. The last two nights I have had cheese for dinner. 🤷‍♀️ Yep…just cheese. Like I ate half a block one night and the other half the next night😂… for dinner🤣 I promise I did eat more balanced earlier in the week with lovely chicken wrap thingys, but then my week went to hell in a hand basket when my 80 year old dad passed out at the gym and ended up in an ambulance to the hospital. He is still there, but he is ok and should get out today. About calories, not sure what my actual calories are, but I eat high calorie foods to try to make sure I am getting enough. Cheese, avocado, peanut butter, fruit, some veg, and protein shakes to make sure I am getting about 100 g/day protein while I heal. If I had to guess I would say 1500+ per day, with minimal actual exercise. I am still moving all day, but other than a few walks, I have not exercised since PS. Pretty sure that is f*&#ing with my head…I need those damn endorphins! Lol My swelling is going down, especially in the mornings, so I will try to post another bikini pic for you soon 😂❤️❤️

Food you used to love now u hate

I LOVED potato chips before surgery and would eat a bag in one sitting. I bought my first (post-bypass) bag last week since I am trying to eat more calories as to not lose more weight (I have a lot of healthier high calorie foods too). I ate some chips. They tasted good. I had some the next day…not tasting as good. The rest of the bag is sitting on the counter and will probably get thrown out. I would rather have a big scoop of peanut butter for the extra calories 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️😬

    Dessert options post-bariatric?

Google keto desserts. There are a ton of sugar free/low carb recipes out there.

Reactive hypoglycemia, anemia, and PS updates

I have definitely had the hungry/not hungry feeling since surgery, so I totally get where you are coming from @Arabesque! 🥰 Anything too greasy has been completely unpalatable. I am very thankful I tolerate protein bars and shakes or I would be in a bad place for getting enough protein. I know I need protein to heal, but meat has not sounded good at all since surgery. We had dinner at some friends’ house last week. They served salmon and flank steak. I only manage a couple bites of the steak and gave the rest to Husband. I managed about 2 ounces of the salmon. 🤷‍♀️ I bought a jar of no stir peanut butter to keep at work to eat with fruit. The fat and protein should help with the reactive hypoglycemia to stabilize my blood sugar from the fruit. 🤞🏻🤞🏻I also have walnuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, dips, cheeses. I already use high protein milk for my protein shakes, so they are protein packed. My goal is to maintain my weight at 130-135. I need to gain a pound 🤣🤣 I plan to start working out as soon as I am healed, which will help with appetite, but conversely burn those extra calories. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷‍♀️ So many skinny girl problems! 🤣😂🤣
