A bit of both...some a bit more chewy and some a bit more crispy. I usually just google recipe for oven heat and times. I call it mushroom crack😂 -
Food Before and After Photos
WishMeSmaller replied to GreenTealael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I ❤️❤️❤️ Portabella mushroom jerky. Have not made it since surgery. Don’t have a real recipe, just add whatever sounds good like olive oil, garlic, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Aleppo pepper, etc. Your snack/dinner looks yummy! -
I followed @ChubRub’s lead and bought a Renpho off Amazon for $23. So far I am very happy with it. I cannot speak to the accuracy of the body fat, muscle, etc. percentages, but it is great for keeping track of changes.

What % of excess weight have you lost & in how long?
WishMeSmaller replied to Kam-R's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Using my starting weight and MY goal weight of 150, I have lost about 73% of my excess body weight at about 4.5 months post-op. If I use a BMI of 25 (164 pounds) I have lost around 83% of excess body weight. 😊 -
Brand suggestions
WishMeSmaller replied to Puffy-no-more's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! Great endorsement. I just ordered one 😊 Just this week I have become so frustrated with how all of my bras fit, but I don’t want to spend a bunch of money on new bras until I am closer to goal. For the price, this is totally worth a try. Thank you ☺️ ps. You should probably look into getting some kick backs for the excellent advertising/product endorsement 😂 maybe free bras? -
Positivity rate in my community is about 20% now. My husband and I tested positive just about two weeks ago now. He is recovered. I am taking steroids for my asthma, but definitely feeling better. I am so grateful I was no longer diabetic and morbidly obese when I got sick. With my asthma, it could have been very ugly. I am pretty sure all of our local hospitals have cancelled elective surgeries, as they are FULL. Our largest local hospital converted a floor of a parking garage into an overflow area last spring, and they reopened it last week. Stay safe!

Lol 😆 I am somewhere between @ms.sss and @ChubRub. My “official” weight is every morning, after peeing, with no clothes on. But...I have been know to weigh myself about 20 x per day🤣 It is important to know your “wet” vs. “dry” weight. Lol

Just going to go out on a limb here and say I think we ALL enjoy the skinnier Jake. 😉

Excuse the chaos of my home office. Size 10 jeans! Woohoo!
-
Lol! I guess I should check my height. That seems backwards 🤷♀️🤣 The shoe thing is bizarre. I have worn the same size shoes since I was a normal weight teenager. The width has decreased with the weight loss, but they are long as ever. 🤣

So I measured my elbow and wrist again. Lol...too much time on my giant hands. 😂 Wrist 6.25” = medium frame Elbow 2.875” = large frame My wrist is smaller than it was pre-WLS. My elbow did not change. 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
-
Right??? 🤷♀️🤷♀️
-
Lol! Yeah, I read wrist is not super accurate, so I did my elbow too. By both measures, I am “large frame.” Disclaimer: I have not measured in 80 pounds or so; I will have to measure again to check in. 😬 I do have broad shoulders, with huge hands and feet, so it might be for realsies. 😂 I noticed a lot of people lost a shoe size or two post-WLS. I am still a 9.5-10 (40-41 Euro). The good news is my shoes still fit. The bad news is my feet are still big. 🤣🤣 As an adult, the least I have ever weighed is 135. I was very fit (and young) at the time, so I did not look overly thin, but I still had these shoulders, hands, and feet. Not so sure about pulling that weight off 20-25 years older, but I am pretty flexible on my goal weight depending on how I look and feel. 💕

My stats are different, but I had type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure. I have lost over 80 pounds since I started my pre-op diet, two weeks before surgery. I have been pretty insane about working out during my post-op, but I have been couched for the last two weeks with COVID and continue to have steady weight loss. I do not think I am the norm, as my weight loss has consistently been about 15 pounds per month post-op plus the 15 pounds I lost on the two week pre-op diet. It looks like most people lose more the first month and then weight loss is a bit less on subsequent months. 🤷♀️ I am extremely happy with my weight loss thus far and hope to hit goal January-ish. I do want to get 10-15 pounds below goal, as it seems normal to have a bit of bounce back going into maintenance. I have gone from plus size 20-22 jeans down to a regular 10. I am off all meds except one blood pressure med, which I have been on for 17 years back when I was 175 pounds. For reference, I am 47 years old, 5’8”, and have a “large frame” based on wrist and elbow measurements. Welcome to the loser’s bench!

3 months out anger and mad at the world
WishMeSmaller replied to Hollow star's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Give yourself some grace right now. Not every day can be our best day. You are also likely having some hormonal shifts with rapid weight loss, as estrogen is stored in fat and is released as you lose the weight. I agree with @ChubRub about discussing your feelings with your PCP. There might be medications that can help you. Take care! -
I lost 15 pounds my first month post op. It sounds like you are on track for success. Keep following your plan and watch the pounds add up. 😊

Terrified- surgery Tues
WishMeSmaller replied to amunguia01's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 47, and 46 at time of surgery. I did stay over night in the hospital per my surgeon’s requirement, but I would have been fine at home. As it was, I got to my room at 6 pm and was discharged by noon the next day. I did not receive any blood thinners. I started out with diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, GERD. I had gastric bypass with hiatal hernia repair. I now take just one blood pressure medication and everything else is resolved at just over 4 months post op. I have been on blood pressure medication since about age 30 when I was about 165 pounds, so don’t expect to ever go off it. I walked a lot after surgery to prevent blood clots. When awake, you should walk around for 5 of every 60 minutes. You don’t have to walk far or fast...movement is the key. If they feel you need to stay, they will keep you, regardless of plan for outpatient. I agree with others that you should discuss your concerns with your surgeon. Good luck! -
Yay! So happy for you! Keep on with the awesomeness 😎

Getting in your protein grams
WishMeSmaller replied to skinnyfeelsgood's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I typically have a protein shake for breakfast to make sure I hit my goals. It is difficult for me to eat enough dense protein foods in one day to make goal. I also have protein bars in case I need a quick 20-ish grams on the go. -
Thank you....it's not said enough!!

Heavy Period Post Op
WishMeSmaller replied to June80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This^^^^ Estrogen is in fact stored in fat cells and so levels do tend to rise during rapid weight loss. I had a hysterectomy about nine years ago, so I did not have to deal with the crazy periods. I do still have ovaries though, and plenty of estrogen, apparently. My moods were all over the place for the first two months. My husband is so glad we are past that 😂 Now he gets to look forward to menopause. I am 47. 🤣 -

Coffee...oh how I miss it
WishMeSmaller replied to JuicyJenny's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
My surgeon’s office gave me the green light on coffee at my two week post-op appointment to help with constipation. I drink caffeinated beverages (no soda) everyday.
