What does your surgeon say? Always best to follow their instructions and call them if you are not sure. My surgeon’s office encouraged me to drink caffeine starting around day 10 to help with constipation. 😊

Major stall!!
WishMeSmaller replied to cheftyler31's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe consider starting to track your food again...weigh, measure, log, etc. Sometimes our guesstimates are not even close, and it is still important to get that protein in. Also, maybe try adding in some strength training with weights, bands, and/or body weight workout videos on YouTube. Mixing up your workout regimen is good for health and weight loss. You can do this! 💕 -

Haha...totally planning this as my first Carbquick experience. Have the recipe printed. Just haven’t had time to make the yet. I will be using all Carbquick when I make them. I will let you know how they come out. 😬 -

Gastric Sleevr Vs. Bypass
WishMeSmaller replied to NYCGirl9269's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had hunger and cravings early on with my bypass, but the restriction and religiously following the protein first mantra prevented me from indulging. The physical hunger is unpleasant now with a shaky, nauseous, generally yucky feeling. Head hunger is real and annoying. I mostly choose to not listen to the head hunger. 🤷♀️ If you follow the protein first rule, it is almost impossible not to be in ketosis at first. As soon as I had room I added in some carbs though (mostly fruit), as I did not want to stay in ketosis. I can’t stand the body odor when I am in ketosis 😂 I exercise a lot and lost 100% of my excess body weight in just over 6 months. I am in what I will label as the vanity phase, as I work towards my chosen goal of 150 pounds. Ultimately, I actually want to get to 135-ish so I have a little cushion for bounce back. I chose bypass due to a 15 year history of GERD. My surgeon generally pushes for sleeve, but agreed with my desire for bypass due to GERD. I think either surgery would have been effective, but I did not want to have a revision if my GERD got worse. I hope some of that helps. 😊 -
Trouble finding ready to drink protein shake
WishMeSmaller replied to RhondaHigdon's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Right after surgery I really struggled with protein shakes. They all tasted like rotten milk to me. It gets better. Just buy small amounts of anything you can find to try. Hopefully you will be able to drink the ones you invested in in a month or two. 🤞🏻I usually just drank a vanilla premier protein. They still tasted like 💩 to me, but I could get them down eventually. goid luck! 😊 -

Eating too much? 3 months out
WishMeSmaller replied to Joce1523's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Bread might be a slider for you. For some of us, bread tends to sit like an uncomfortable lump in the tummy, but it sounds like that did not happen to you. When I get a sandwich, (which is very rarely) I will have one or two small bites with the bread and then eat the filling only, after that. I don’t know about stretching your pouch, but I am guessing what you ate is not a great choice for getting all your protein in and bread tends to be empty calories. Dense protein will fill you up for longer than some protein with bread. When I go to a sandwich shop, I typically order a “sub in a tub” and I think most places have no bread options at this point. Good luck! 😊 -
Does hernia repair during gastric bypass surgery slow down healing process?
WishMeSmaller replied to Dimplez90's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had hiatal hernia repair with my bypass. I would get cramping after eating and sometimes vomit. This happened with decreasing frequency for about the first 2-3 months post-op. My surgeon’s office thought it was related to the hernia repair. I still get nauseous sometimes if I eat too much, too fast, but haven’t had the cramping/vomiting thing in 4-5 months. Congrats on your spectacular weight loss so far! I hope the rest of your recovery goes smoothly. 😊 -

Balancing Weight Loss With Working Out
WishMeSmaller replied to K Be Good!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been exercising (gentle walking) since my first week post-op with increasing intensity. My weight loss has been great. I don’t stress about the odd pound gain here and there, because at the end of the month, I am still losing weight. Exercise will help your health and the way your body looks as you lose weight. Good luck! 😊 -
Can I see some before and after pics?
WishMeSmaller replied to Hopefulin2021's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thank you! Your results are spectacular! According to my smart scale app, my BMI is normal. If I did not lose another pound I would still be thrilled with my results, but there is just something about reaching my goal...I am not ready to quit pushing yet. 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️ I am so happy with how I look and feel now. I am off of meds for diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. I am active. I like doing things again. Surgery was the best decision for me, and like so many others, my only regret is not doing it 5 years ago.😊😊 -

This is more of a before and during, as I am not quite to goal. First pics were right before starting my pre-op diet in late June and the last pic is two days ago. Size 20-22 down to an 8 in less than seven months. Loving all of the energy I have now! -
As always, your figure is spectacular! 🤩😍😍

🤣 Walmart is one of my least favorite places to go. I usually just do a pick up order. Bread is in the freezer by other frozen keto foods in my store. Kind of crumbly on the texture, but I think it tastes good! -

Not losing anything!
WishMeSmaller replied to CKmommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost maybe a pound that first week. Everyone is right. It is water from IV fluids. There will be many times when you lose nothing or next to nothing for a week or two (stalls). The weight will come off. Just stick with your surgeon’s plan and trust the process. 💕 -

I found a keto bread (1 net carb and 30 kcals per slice) that tastes good! Dinner tonight... I ate the small half of the grilled cheese sandwich and all of the tomatoes with avocado. Yummy! -
I am not liking any food
WishMeSmaller replied to Psray76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found many things revolting shortly after surgery...including protein shakes. It got better. Sometimes it still happens, but rarely. I am able to eat things now (including protein shakes), that were disgusting to me after one meal within the first couple months after surgery. Check with your surgeon’s office regarding using shakes as your primary protein source. Good luck!
