Lack of pressure when urinating
WishMeSmaller replied to Tim C's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It is not unusual for some people to have a more difficult time urinating after anesthesia. As long as you are still able to go, the pressure issue should resolve itself pretty quickly. -
Support Groups?
WishMeSmaller replied to jackie1533's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I definitely consider this my support group. With COVID, I think in person options are pretty slim. Coming to this board regularly helps me to keep focused on my goals and the process. I have learned so much here and hope to pay that forward. -

My hubby and I went RV βcampingβ about 11 days after my surgery. We have two dogs and the small one (25 pounds) sleeps on the bed with us in the trailer. I had some food not agree with my tummy and was up half of one night puking, but other than that, we had a great time. Everyone is different. Let your parents pay for the reservation and decide after your surgery if you feel up to going. ππ

Heavy weights/ powerlifting post VSG
WishMeSmaller replied to healthy_steph's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I do not lift heavy, but I incorporated traditional strength training at about 10 weeks. I think it has really helped with my results. Just check with your surgeon on when it is ok to start. I built up to about an hour of weights 2-3 days per week (3 sets moderate weight for 8-12 reps), plus some functional strength training a couple of times per week. Good luck! π ps. I had RNY vs VSG, but I think with regards to this question, surgery does not matter too much. -

Thank you all so much for the positive feedback! β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ I have always had hang ups about my legs and yet you all think they look good...so funny how we see ourselves as opposed to how others see us. Uh hi there, body dysmorphia. Now onward to PS surgery and picking up that saggy booty to get ready for bikinis in Maui for JulyπππΊ -
Cream of Soups
WishMeSmaller replied to Hopefulin2021's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there, Hopeful! You are so close. My pre-op diet was 4 meal replacement shakes, non-starchy veggies, broth, and no calorie beverages. Sugar free popsicles were not on the list and soups were a no go. The meal replacement shakes were disgusting and that second week I had to force myself to drink them. I lost 15 pounds during those two weeks. Just keep going for a few more days!π -
Eating everything before pre op diet
WishMeSmaller replied to JustJazzy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had food funerals for about two weeks before my pre-op diet. It was ridiculous and I am not proud of doing that, but I did. π€·ββοΈ Now that I am at goal I realize how silly it was, because I can eat just about everything now, just in much smaller quantities.π -
Day 4 PO. No Pain, No Hunger. Abdomen seems swollen.
WishMeSmaller replied to Tim C's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My belly was super bloated for about a week after surgery. Hard to believe I could tell with how big my belly was, but even my family noticed. I donβt know if it was fluid or air, but it did go away. π -
Depression after surgery?
WishMeSmaller replied to GreenThumb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Due to COVID we just donβt get to socialize like normal and it has taken a toll. It is a tough time to give up a best friend, food. I had and continue to have depression and take meds for it. My mood swings were radical the first 4 months or so post-op...just ask my husband π Things are definitely more stable now, but I have to exercise a lot to maintain my mood. If I skip two days in a row, I definitely get into a blue funk. Talk to your doc about how you are feeling and tweak your meds if you need to. Try some gentle exercise like walking. Hang in there! π -
Do you have much heartburn after bypass?
WishMeSmaller replied to Katja's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had hiatal hernia with GERD prior to RNY with hiatal hernia repair, and had taken nexium daily for about 15 years. Per my surgeonβs recommendation, I continued my nexium for about 6 weeks after surgery. I had a bit of heartburn in the first few weeks after surgery, but nothing after that. It is wonderful! And no more nexium. βΊοΈ -

WishMeSmaller replied to WishMeSmaller's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thank you for the encouragement for PS, @ms.sss! The saggy butt skin is horrible. I always feel like whatever I am sitting/laying on has creases, lumps, and bumps, but it is just my loose skin.ππ I canβt believe I am going to have to live with it for three more months. It is literally difficult to get comfortable anytime I sit or lay down. In the side angle pic you can see the wrinkles below my butt cheek and how my boob just rolls up into my bra. It is sad π’ and funny π at the same time. I will take the scars. @BigSue and @catwoman7, thank you so much for the compliments! π₯°π₯° Sometimes I still just see the ugly bits, like the varicose veins and saggy skin. I promise to wear some short skirts and dresses this summer! -

Hahahahaha! Thank you, Sue! I am looking forward to skirts and shorts this summer, but first, I am finally getting the varicose veins on my legs fixed. It is incredibly painful and so ugly, but insurance is covering due to the severity of my venous dilation and regurgitation. Hooray! My loose skin is definitely easy to hide in clothes, but the saggy butt issue is really uncomfortable. Like interfering with my life uncomfortable...so to plastics I go. π¬ -
Letβs talk protein shakes!
WishMeSmaller replied to MyGrammyLife's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I second the vote on Built bars. Hubby is not a WLS patient and he also loves them. My favorite is orange, but I have yet to find a flavor I donβt like. I prefer the flavors without nuts. Just a personal preference. -

A not very exciting Chinese-ish chicken salad/slaw. I did not do a very good job at planning, so donβt have much else in the way of veggies. π€·ββοΈ Tasted good though! -

Rice, Pasta, Bread, etc
WishMeSmaller replied to HealthyLifeStyle's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I am almost eight months PO. I have tried pretty much everything I ate pre-WLS. I do not dump, but some things sit better than others, and something that sits well today, might not sit well tomorrow. More than a a small portion of bread or pasta tends to feel like a lump in my tummy. I do not like to forbid myself certain foods, but I do pick my battles. For instance, last Friday I went out to dinner. Instead of eating the bread put on the table, I had wine (I have a glass of wine or two once every other week or so). Since we canβt drink while we eat, I chose to drink first, rather than eat the warm bread. My fish entree came with three ravioli. I ate one and took the others home with 2/3 of my fish. I am not a big rice person, so I have only had a few bites since surgery, with no issue. I am trying to slow my weight loss down now, as I am happy with the way my body looks. I was happily stalled for about two weeks and thought I hit maintenance, but I have dropped 4 pounds this week. I exercise a lot, so I am not super restrictive with what I eat. My goal is to lose a bit more fat, not weight. Like Summerset, I do not chose to be insanely limiting with carbs, but most of my carbs come from fruit, rather than grains. I think it just depends on your current weight loss/maintenance goals, and trial and error. Good luck! ps. IMO = in my opinion -
Gorgeous! πππ ps. Pretty sure I will not be fixing loose skin on my arms either π when they are down, you just canβt tell π€·ββοΈ

Yep βΊοΈ Tomorrow is the official 77th anniversary of when that lady was born. She has always been normal weight and the only plastic surgery she has ever had was reconstruction after breast cancer. My mom is pretty awesome and I am proud to call her my BFF. π₯°π₯°π₯°π₯°
