Lap Band Surgery Day Stories
Kiki220 replied to pennyt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my sugery last wednesday and I am at the hostipal as I write this waiting for my fiance. It is 12:30 now...we got here at 6:15 for a 7:30 surgery. They didn't go in till after 8 and a little after 10 the nurse came out to tell his mom and I that he was still in surgery because there had been some bleeding. I remained calm but his mom's eye's welled up. They had to stop what they were doing and stop the bleeding but and after the third attempt it stopped. They also had to put in a drain because of this. Anyone else have this? I was able to see him at 12 for about 5 mins. Very tired and a little nausuea so they gave him more meds. I am sipping chicken noodle soup broth and hoping he gets into a room soon. -
I am very sad to read that some of you suffered for almost 2-3 weeks with this awful pain in the port area. It bothers me so much, if it wasn't that I would feel great. I have the hardest time getting to sleep because it is even more uncomfortable when I lay down, even when I support myself with pillows. I am also not sure if I get gas when I lay down? Any thoughts of gas pains? Has anyone found a good way to sleep? Time for my ZZZZZZZZs hopefully I am so tired from last night I will have no problem sleeping tonight.

I just read through the past five pages and wow I can't believe that 305 other people changed their lives this month. I am so proud and excited for everyone as I am myself. I have had a good week, moving to full liquids tomorrow. Have my post op appointment and am looking foward to seeing how much I have lost. My incisions are healing nicely and expect for discomfort where the port is I feel great. I am having the hardest time getting comfortable at night. . I am also able to drink more than I thought. I just had some creamier Soup than I have been and there is some discomfort in the chest. BEST NEWS OF ALL...I left the hospital last week without my blood pressure medication, today I had it checked and it was great and tomorrow and am hoping to hea that I can continue not taking it!!!!!!! ALSO My finance is going in tomorrow morning for his band. We have to be there at the ass crack of dawn and since it takes me an hour or so to fall asleep and it is already 11 and many of you are wondering when she is going to stop gabbing I will say Good Night and Happy Start to a wonderful and healthy new life!!!!!

Lap Band Surgery Day Stories

I got my band yesterday June 25. I went into the OR around 1:30-2:00 and was in my own room around 4:30. I immediatly began drinking 1 oz clear water, tea, broth every 15 minutes. This I continued while I was awake. I was up walking within an hour and waked every 2 hours for 15 minutes. Didn't sleep well, the bed was so uncomfortable and with the gas pains in the shoulder my back was very uncomfortable. I came home around 10:30 and I have continued drinking 1 oz (or a little more) every 15 minutes Taken a bunch of little walks and had a few visitors. Looking foward to getting into my own bed tonight. I am not sure if I few pain exactly, more discomfort and muscle tightness especially where the port is and where my surgeon was working. Every hour is gets better, can't wait to see what tomorrow brings. -
I was just banded yesterday and I only supposed to have clear liquids for the aweek then move onto full liquids (i.e. milk products and creamy soups). It is a little boring and bland but it is worth it right now.

"Tis The Night Before Surgery"
Kiki220 replied to RKidder's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get my band tomorrow and I am very excited and maybe started to get nervous. Yesterday and today I am on clear liquids and last night I passed out a couple times. I really scared my finance when I was completely unconscious so he called 911 when I came to I was pretty disorientated and didn't know where I was but felt better about 5 minutes later. EMTs checked all my vitals and they were fine even my blood sugar and just suggested that I don't really do anything today and keep hydrated. Has this happened to anyone? I am worried about what the next days might bring being that I am already this weak and will continue the clear liquids after the surgery for about 7 days. Any advice, words of encouragement would be great! -
day 3 of pre diet, I am having a hard time. I had 5 chips with dip. Is that bad? I am worried that it will affect the surgery!?! I will do better tomorrow. My date is Wednesday June 25, 5 days from now. I can't wait

Mine is the 25th. I loved the long shopping list so that I can better prepare. I am on the optifast drinks and clear liquids...I can't decide if I am really hungry or I just want to eat. I am doing everything I can to stay away from food. Not to nervous about the surgery more excitement/delight/eagerness about afterwards.

hey, I don't start my pre diet till tuesday. Let me know how it is going.
