For those of you that are at or near goal.
mphsmommy replied to mphsmommy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I could have written that myself, that is sooooo how I am!! My husband and I do have sex at least twice a week, but I am so self concious the entire time, I am always trying to keep things covered. -
How has your personality changed? I ask this because last year I dropped 50lbs (which I have now gained all of it back) and I could tell a huge difference in my personality. I was more outgoing, more sexual with my husband, just an all over happier person. Now that the weight is back on, I am back to my not so outgoing, not so sexual, and unhappy personality. My husband was in Iraq when I lost the weight and the first thing he commented on when I picked him up was that I was different (in a good way).

Every time I go to a class with the Surgeons
mphsmommy replied to mphsmommy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My husband is military and I have Tricare so if I want the surgery, I have to have it done here on base. There are 3 surgeons here. I like the surgeons so far, they just really push bypass but say they will do LapBand if that's what we want. My gut is definately telling me LapBand, so that's what I'll stick with. Next time I start questioning it, I'll just come back to this post and read it again, it has helped a ton!! Thanks everyone. -
How long did you wait for a baby??

Oh yea, he's just gonna LOVE that. LOL Gotta do what we gotta do though!! -
Can you eat stuff like fries in a small amount? What about when you go out to eat, what kinds of things do you get? So salads upset your stomach?

I too was wondering why this was the case. I plan to have the surgery in Sept.. The surgeon said he wants his patients on birthcontrol for 18 months to 2 years post op. I do not wanna go on birthcontrol. Birthcontrol is evil for me. Also, dh will be deploying to Iraq AGAIN in January and be gone for a year, so is birth control really necessary for 4 months? We definately wanna get pregnant when he gets home from Iraq. -
Cool, thanks!!

What should I expect? I was told I have to attend 3 of them before surgery.

What foods can you NOT eat since the surgery?
mphsmommy replied to mphsmommy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm concerned about the drinking part too. When I workout or it's hot, I can easily gussle a bottle of water (that's pretty much all I drink). -
Congrats, that's awesome. Keep up the good work!!
-
Thanks!! I will definately need a lift and I would also want some implants at some point.

My husband asked me the other night when we were talking about the PS I would have done when I had lost enough weight. Do you still have feeling in your nipples when you have a Mastopexy? I didn't know the answer, so here I am asking the experts.

Unfortunately I love rice. LOL I would rather have baked, broiled, or grilled food than fried food, so I think I am good there. My main eating problem is I just eat too much food, that's why I think the Lap Band will work great for me. -
Wondering how long you waited...

I too want another child (we have a 6 year old daughter), but wanna get the band and loose first. I too have PCOS and don't ovulate regularly, but when I loose weight I start ovulating more regular, so I'm hoping I won't have any problems getting pregnant one I loose. My husband will be going to Iraq AGAIN next Jan, so we'll start trying after he gets home, so that gives me plenty of time to get to where I wanna be first. The surgeon said she would prefer 12 months out and there won't be any issues with me having the band, they will just unfill it completely while pregnant. -
My appointment with my PCM isn't till next week. I don't wanna loose too much before we submit to Tricare for the surgery because I wanna make sure I am still eligible without comorbitities. I wanna start loosing now to get ahead of the game though.

How soon should I start loosing before surgery?
mphsmommy replied to mphsmommy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks, my husband is military, so I have Tricare. My BMI is 43, so I'm pretty sure I'll get approved. The surgeon told me that the wait here on post is only about 3 months from the time you go to the seminar, so I'm hoping she is right. I do know one lady here on post that had gastric bypass that took her 18 months to get everything done, but I think they have more testing and stuff to do to get approved. -

Yea, I'm so excited ya'll can eat salads, I LOVE salads!!! -
Good to know, I love Mexian food (my favorite is the chicken taco salad).

This has been my biggest problem. I can work my butt off and loose the weight only to have it come back plus some. In Feb last year, I was down to 230 and now I am back up to my highest weight of 280 again. I have tried so many times, but I ALWAYS gain it back and then some. I have thought about surgery for years, but I always came back to "if I can loose weight by myself, then why have the surgery". Now I have the answer, the answer is "if I have the surgery, I can loose weight and NOT gain it back". I am so ready to have a new life!!!

I have told very few people (the ones I knew would be supportive) that I am having the surgery. I told dh I don't want him telling his dad's side of the family at all until after the surgery because I don't wanna deal with the "are you sure you are making the right decision?" comments.
-
Can you take medicine with Asprin in it after the Lapband? At the seminar the surgeon was saying you can NEVER have meds with asprin in them again because you can easily develop an ucler after the surgery, but I am thinking that is only for gastic bypass patients. Am I correct in assuming that?

I was on Glucophage for about two years for PCOS. It did NOTHING for me (except make me sick to my stomach everyday). I also had a problem with my bloodsugar dropping quickly while I was on it. I came of it cause I hated it and haven't had that happen since.

Things People Pass Off For Compliments and Things Skinny People Say That Piss You Off
mphsmommy replied to j_war06's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh my, I have so many since I have been overweight since elementary school. My cousin use to sing this song to me when we were little "fatty and skinny laying on the bed, fatty rolled over and skinny was dead". I will never forget her singing that to me one day when we were laying on her bed. Funny thing is she is now overweight herself. LOL One guy in high school told me my thighs looked like a Thanksgiving Turkey. My uncle and cousin pointed out to me at my cousins wedding that I have SUCH a beautiful face (that one really hurt). I can't even count the number of times dh (also when we were just dating) has gotten in a fight over someone saying I was a fatass or something like that. -
Thanks for all the good info.. I am leaning more and more towards the Lapband, it just seems safer to me.
