Thanks, I'll see what they have at the commissary. The recipe is (I got it from one of the little snack stations at Sam's): Canned chicken (Member's Mark from Sam's) Ranch Dressing (I just used the dry ranch mix since I was using mayo anyway) Mayo Garlic powder Onion Powder Relish (I use dill) Salt Pepper I don't measure, I just mix and taste. LOL I have found that if you make it a few hours ahead of time, the garlic and onion powders really pop out. Yummy!!

I am making a grocery list and I want a good light mayo to make chicken salad with. I made it for me and dd for lunch today, but I used Duke's mayo which I'm sure is just horrible for you. LOL It would be a really healthy recipe if I could switch out the mayo. Any suggestions? I don't think Miracle Whip would taste right in it since it's sweet.

Tricare Prime has denied me
mphsmommy replied to AZArmyWife36's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yea, with Tricare you have to have a 35 to 40 BMI with 2 or 3 comorbidities (they don't count PCOS) and no comorbidities with a BMI of 40 or more. -
Which one is better and which one would you do? My doc suggest Atkins, but isn't South Beach the same thing?

One of my favorites is to take the DRY italian dressing mix and sprinkle it over boneless skinless chicken breast drizzled with olive oil. Bake it like you would bake any chicken. YUMMY

Help I think im eating to much
mphsmommy replied to armywife4life's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not sure, but you sound good to me. Of course I haven't been band yet, so what do I know. LOL I am also an Army wife, where are ya'll stationed? We are stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. Hoping to have my surgery at the end of August, first of Sept.. -
I came up with a long list. Add your list if you would like. * To be able to get on a plane and not worry about weather or not I’ll have to get a seatbelt extender * To not worry if I will fit on a roller coaster (although I’ve always said I didn’t like them to hide the fact I may not fit) * To be invited to supper with your husbands new friends/new coworkers and not worry about what they will think of his “fat” wife * To undress in front of my husband and not be embarrassed * To put on a swimsuit and not look like a whale * To ride on my husbands motorcycle and feel good about it (not feel like I am too heavy for him to hold up the bike) * To wear tanktops * To have cute legs again * To possibly wear a bikini * To take sexy pictures to send to my husband while he’s deployed * To be able to run with my husband * To play ball with my daughter for more than 5 minutes without getting worn out * To be able to buy a matching dress for me and my daughter (never seen a plus size dress to match a kids dress) * To believe my husband when he tells me I’m beautiful * To be able to be on top without getting worn out when making love to my husband * To wear sexy bras and panties and look good in them * To sit on my husbands lap and not worry that I am hurting him * To have my husband be able to pick me up if he wants * To be able to wear one of my husbands tshirts to bed and it be too big * To not be the “fat mom” anymore * To go on vacation and actually have a good time and not worry about my weight the entire time * To not have to ask for an extra large wheelchair if I have to be in the hospital again * To be able to get pregnant easily * To be the smallest female in MY family * To go to Disney and not be worn out the first hour I’m there * To have a good self esteem for once in my life

Thanks, I have looked at the carb count on stuff in my pantry and I was shocked. Even alot of veggies have carbs. I love fruits and veggies, so I think I'll stick to high proteins, fruits, and veggies. LOL

I dreamt I had just had the LapBand surgery and I didn't even wanna think about eating. It was that feeling you have when you have been sick and throwing up and you just can't think about eating. That was it. I actually loved it cause I felt like food wasn't gonna control me ever again.

Should I Start My Pre-OP Diet Early??
mphsmommy replied to shellbell99's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go for it. I plan to have surgery at the end of August, first of Sept and I am starting my high protein/low carb diet tomorrow. I would love to be down 25 - 30lbs before surgery. -
I am hoping I can avoid this since I have a 6 year old, I can just order an adult plate and split it with her.

I'm Wondering--did you TELL?
mphsmommy replied to thughes113's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have told people, but only the people I know will be supportive and not push their opinions on me. I haven't told dh's dad's side of the family and I don't plan too unless they ask about me loosing weight after the fact. I don't wanna deal with the "are you sure that's what you wanna do?" and I don't want them calling me everyday seeing how I am doing. My mom, dad, and sister know, but we haven't told extended family yet. My husband's mom and grandparents know. -
I have crunchy knees...does that get better after losing weight?
mphsmommy replied to 🅺🅸🅼🅼🅸🅴🅺's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have the same problems, I hope it goes away when I start loosing weight. -
I am going to start working on loosing again July 7th (I'm on vacation now LOL). I hope to have surgery at the end of August or first of Sept and I hope to be down about 25 to 30lbs by then (not sure if that's realistic or not). I'm thinking I'll be doing protein shakes for breakfast and lots of tuna and chicken for lunch and supper.

Hmm, our situations are pretty different so I'm not sure what to say. My husband is active duty military and we have a 6 year old, so when I do have appointments he is either at work or staying home with our daughter. It doesn't bother me that he hasn't gone to any appointments, but he always ask me how my appointment was and what they said and he wants to know whats going on and where I am at in the process and what comes next.

How did your dh/so react to the loose skin when you lost? I am concerned it will gross him out too much (I do plan to have plastic surgery eventually). I guess it can't be much grosser than the fat rolls now, but I am still concerned.
-
If it is water weight, give it two weeks and it should even out. I was pumped full with an IV when I had dd cause I was urinating, so the docs were concerned and kept pumping more in me. I swelled up soooo big. It was two weeks before I could put my shoes on.

Here is a post I posted last week I think. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/every-time-i-go-class-surgeons-66764/ There's alot of good info in there as I am having the same issues as you (going back and forth). My MAIN reason for sticking with Lapband is my husband and I wanna have another child at some point and my surgeon said if that's the case, you should do the Lapband.

Wine is so divine.. or is it? lol
mphsmommy replied to coolcrystal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I love me some good sweet wine too. I never was a wine person till we moved to Fort Drum and went to the winery up there. Make my mouth water just thinking about it. I normally gain weight when I drink it though, I think it makes me retain fluid or something. -
I agree with the above.

Thanks Ladies. I guess I'm more worried cause I saw one episode of "I Lost It" and the woman had had gastric bypass and her husband was on there saying he was totally grossed out by the hanging skin and he just couldn't be intimate with her because of it. She has PS and looked great and then he was all over her. I have talked to dh and he knows I will have loose skin and I'll have to have PS. He said as long as I will agree to go back to having big boobs (I've always had huge boobs), he doesn't care. LOL

Post op appointment
mphsmommy replied to LeslieR041906's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations, that is an awesome loss!! Could you go walk around your neighborhood and take your daughter in a stroller or wagon? -
How long did you wait for a baby??
mphsmommy replied to AppleSmith1226's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
They have stressed the 12 -18 months for me too. I am not gonna go on birth control, I hate the hormones and I've been through so much infertility treatment over the years, I wouldn't wanna go backwards. Dh can use a condom for about 4 months, then he will be gone for a year in Iraq. We'll be trying when he gets home. -
PCOS and the band? Thinking about it and looking for advice from fellow cysters
mphsmommy replied to Who'sThere's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I too have PCOS and have struggled with infertility for years. My daughter is a clomid baby, she's 6 and we have been trying to get pregnant again since she was 1. I just had my last cycle and now I am on to get my Lapband. I KNOW loosing weight helps with infertility. I had gotten down 50lbs last year and my cycles were at 32 day then (which is unheard of for me). Now I have gained all my weight back. :tt1: My doc even told me yesterday that my symptoms will disappear as I loose the weight. I can't wait to get to my goal and for my dh to get home from Iraq (he's deploying AGAIN in Jan) so we can try to get pregnant and not use infertility drugs anymore. :tt1: -
Treadmill VS Elliptical
mphsmommy replied to bandster_1007's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Elliptical all the way. I used to love the Treadmill until I tried the Elliptical. The Elliptical doesn't kill my feet and knees like the Treadmill does and I feel like I can do more on the Elliptical. I burn alot more calories on the Elliptical too.
