    Finding the new me

Hello Azhiker, I can relate to your challenges that can coincide with the mind, body, heart and soul. I am 11 years post op and still my own worst critic. I look in the mirror and see a fat girl. But one thing that has slowly changed has been to become outspoken with my thoughts. I also learned not to feel uncomfortable going into an area in any location and feel eyes watching me. My motto is "Learn to control the things that u can the rest leave it to the divine." It will take time to fully get where you want to be. For beginners, be BOLD and CONFIDENT in anything you do. Hope the advise helps Missy cee Sent from my SM-G960U1 using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. Hello stacer I can relate to what you are going through. My strategy was the preop liquid diet that the dietitian puts us on in effort to shrink the liver. Lol. I said "i suffered with high cholesterol and my md gave me an ultimatum with a nutritionist. She helped me avoid everything white and red meat off my fork" so now i am shedding the weight. In addition im exercising. No one knows i had WLS surgery other than my children. I hope this strategy helps you keep all the nosy people out your business. Hint: i still use this lol Missy cee Sent from my SM-G960U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Hair Loss!

Hi Nelly, Hope you are doing well? I can relate to hair loss at one point after WLS but it was primarily because i was not diligent with my vitamins. I got in the habit of taking a hair, nails and skin supplement and my hair texture is thin but i am no longer losing my hair. In addition i got in the habit of massaging my scalp before bed and sleep with a night cap. Sent from my SM-G960U1 using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. Hi Locken, Good afternoon. Wow!! I am sorry that you are going through this with a 27 year old marriage. Speaking from some experience in 2008 i started a romantic relationship with a gentleman that loved me unconditionally. Later next year I shared with him that I have thought of doing the WLS and he was physically supportive. He took care of me through recovery, he cooked separate meals for me being that i can only have mushy and crunchy. One thing I can say is that he began to feel very insecure as the weight started to shed off and my clothes were smaller and men outdoors were complimenting me. He became a stalker. We got engaged in 2010 and he began to emotionally abuse me and accussing me that i was cheating. He even had an image in his head that i did not work instead i spent my days in a hotel with men. I mean he got mentally sick. Long story short. I was loyal all my years with him but being that he felt i was not loyal, he decided to step out of the relationship and cheat in 2012. I was devastated and we parted. Do what you believe will improve your health for yourself. If you both mean something to one another continue therapy, god willing he may join you one day. If he loves you, he will trust that you would never commit infidelity. Mine unfortunately was weak, insecure and selfish and im happier without him. Meal plan for 1 year post op

Good morning I can only share my experiences. 2 weeks ago i revisited my preop liquid diet regimen and included going to the gym 3x a week because i gained 15lbs during the pandemic. My weight stalled and started seeing the scale number go up. Im over 200lbs. I intend to continue my clean eating for at least 2 more weeks and weigh myself on 9/30/20. I skip dinner I do 2 protein shakes my favorite premier protein 30gm protein 160 cal. I eat breakfast and lunch. My lunch is veggies or a salad with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers onions peppers. 2 cups. And healthy choice ff dressing. I like these options and i have been disciplined. I hope this helps. Back and Forth, Very Nervous

Hello If i were you, do your own research first and foremost. Listen and watch you tube procedures. Reflect on the yo yo weight loss Challenges. Lastly stop letting people in your ear. Do what you feel is best for you. I did not tell anyone until the date of my procedure, why? Because people have to much to say and i did not want to hear it. You are the driver in your journey. I hope this advice helps Missy Sent from my SM-G960U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

  13. Hello Twism44--It is so nice to hear that we can relate. I have been post op from my Gastric Bypass since 2016 and I am now facing a stall. I decided to revisit my preop liquid diet and I am happy to say that I am doing my thing. It feels good to be disciplined. The pandemic led me to each due to boredom while working from home. But now that the gyms are open in NYC I have included my exercise now and am watching what I eat. Kudos to you with the inspiring words. Thank you! Remaining positive and keeping the faith alive is important. I hope to lose 50 lbs within the next few months. Be well and stay safe.

    Exercise

I am not a runner. I would much rather confine myself to the gym setting rather than run around in NYC. Its pretty wild in these streets.

Hello It is okay. Please stop beating yourself on the head. It was one time and you learned your lesson. The goal here is to feel better. How do you feel today? What sensations are you feeling that maybe I can give you some tips with a home remedy? Missy Cee
  20. Hello From my experiences when I underwent the Lapband procedure in 2009 and my revision WLS Gastric Bypass in 2016, I did not wait for the office to tell me anything. I got on the phone and asked if my insurance covers WLS. The other question you want to ask the insurance company are there any particular medical requirements in effort to be approved for WLS? You may want to ask also at the time of admission if approved do I have a copay at the time of admission? There are some insurance companies that require a copay ans some donot. I have never heard of a surgeon perform WLS and not receive an authorization for the service that is rendered. I hope my information is helpful and do not hesitate to ask anything. I am Post Op 11 years and still in the journey. This is a longterm journey of challenges. Missy Cee

    Anyone for September 2020?

Good Morning I want to start by saying that I am happy to see that your surgery is a success and you are back home recovering. I would advise that you try to avoid computers and electrical devices for the next few days in order to alleviate the blurriness. As for the tiredness, reach out to your surgeon and ask if you can begin to take your B12 vitamins now or can he refer you to go in for a B12 shot. You are fairly new to the recovery stages so let's see how you feel on Monday. I think that a lot of rest will bring your body into formation. Missy Cee

In 2 weeks I plan to start doing light weights and abs. If you are interested in working out more, find a workout that you like to do. There are tons of different types like Zumba, dance fitness, kickboxing with billy blanks etc.
