June Sleevers Post Op
Paradisegirl replied to srgrl08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great idea! My high was being able to go two days in a row without pain meds! I’m only 8 days out and the pain meds make me kind of loopy so I’m really happy about that! Low point - my steri strip fell off and I could see that my incision hasn’t closed yet. Not sure why it bummed me out so much but it did! Goal for next week is to actually hit 50g of protein each day! -

Hey! We’re surgery twins! And it sounds like we’re experiencing a lot of the same things! I’m exhausted all the time (likely because of the low caloric intake), and the gas pain is still crazy bad. I try to sip water all day but it really hurts! I’m hoping this part doesn’t last too much longer! I know a lot of ppl bounce right back but I just feel like I’m only know starting to recover from the surgery. Add in the food issues and I feel like I’m drowning a bit. I’m sure next week will be much better...or at least that’s what I’m clinging to! 😊 My doc has me doing full fluids now until Friday when I can start purées and then a week later I can do soft foods. Full foods a week after that. I sincerely hope my chest and esophagus is healed by then because I am starving! 🤞🏻 -
Did you find the second week easier? I’m having a hard time balancing the discomfort with the pain meds the doc gave me. He gave me Percocet which I thought was a bit heavy and have been avoiding taking them...but then I’m in pain...each day does seem to be getting better but it’s still rough...

That sounds like a great idea for the veggies. I’m sure it’s not easy to lose it and gain some of it back but I envy you for having the willpower to lose it with ww in the first place! That is not easy! I’m sure that willpower will fare well for you with this next journey!

I’m in Newfoundland, Canada. Heading to Toronto for my surgery tho. How are you finding the pre-op diet? What does yours include?

Thanks for the encouragement - it’s tough but necessary...with all that’s been going on in the last few months I’ve been spiraling with my food intake. It’s been constant eating...I started this last week and dropped 14lbs so far. Def a lot of water weight and not sustainable but it was a nice boost to get started. not sure about the sprays - I have one Mrs dash but I don’t like it much. I’ll have to try a different one. I’ve been using my air fryer a lot. Made fries out of turnip sticks with some powdered onion, garlic and paprika...pretty good! Also made some lettuce wraps with turnip, cauliflower, broccoli, and cucumber. Wasn’t bad but man I could’ve used some salt!

Hey y’all! I’m booked for my surgery on June 18. Sending the best vibes to all of you going in tomorrow! Can’t wait to hear how it went. I’m 35, 5’4” tall and started my preop diet last week at 300lbs. My doctor required me to do 3 weeks of shakes and 250cals of low glycemic veggies per day. It’s been challenging to find ways to prepare veggies that don’t have any fat or salt...love for some suggestions!
