Thank you Nance! I was getting worried. I just had my first fill and cannot really feel a difference. I believe I have 4.4 cc's in a 10 cc band. I am not feeling any restriction and am on the verge of falling off the wagon myself! I have had a bad habit of binging on crackers/chips at dinner time when I am the most hungry. At least I know there is hope. My doctor is really conservative and I am feel like it will be like pulling teeth to get another fill.

I am glad you brought this up. I feel like the diet I am on is way too restrictive. Especially after reading some of the other posts on this forum. I am only allowed to have 1/4 c. of food or 2oz. at a time. I am supposed to have this 6 times a day but I am always hungry. It never seems to be enough. I have not had a fill yet either. The dietician has me on the same diet as the gastric bypass patients and I think that is wrong since they have full restriction right away. I find myself cheating in the late afternoon/evening because I am so hungry. I am crazy? wrong? Is anyone else going through this? I am starting to worry about this.

I feel the same way about my eating that tammygirl does. Today was my first day eating solid food again. My dietician has me eating only 2oz. of food at a time. They have the lapband patients and gastri bypass patients on the same diet which I don't think is right. I am so fearful of self-sabotage. Everytime I have dieted, I get so wrapped up in thinking about food all the time. I am so afraid of failure with this.

How much should I loose in how long of time?

I have heard that drinking carbonated beverages can stretch your pouch. I am still on liquids but hungry and trying to drink my protein drinks at 2-3 hour intervals. This is how I plan to eat as well. Several small meals a day. I don't know if it will help but just my 2cents. -
i finally feel hungry

I agree with Sugar Free Popsicles. They are a life saver for me right now. Also, low sodium tomato soup with skim milk when you want something savory. I was on protein shakes right after surgery and have done just fine. -
My doctor told me I could go swimming one week after my sutures were removed.

Gas X will not help with heartburn. You should ask your doctor for a prescription for Nexium or Previcid or you can try Pepcid over the counter. My doctor has my on Nexium for a month following my surgery. I have not had heartburn yet. It has worked wonderfully.

I am on day 6 post op and yesterday and today I am experiencing very painful hiccups. Anyone experience this and know how to prevent them? Thank you in advance for your help.

What did you find the hardest to deal with post op?

I accidently gulped water down one day after post op and it made me very uncomfortable. Take my advice sip, and sip slowly. -
Two days Post-op (semi miserable)
jonsmom replied to YoungNy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was also on June 6th and I am still feeling miserable. The gas pain has been terrible and I have tried the Gas X and it has not helped. My feet are also swelling and I keep coughing up phlegm. I am going to call my doctor this morning as I coughed up a little blood with the phlegm. The coughing hurts a lot and I am afraid that my band will slip if I cough too hard. Has anyone else experienced this? I have successfully been able to get 2oz of protein shake down every 2 hours. Getting the required water down has been tricky. I accidently gulped some down and felt pretty bad afterwards. Must remember to sip everything slowly. -
Thank you Sunshynne. It's good to hear that everything went well from one of his patients. I have heard about the gas pain before. How soon were you able to leave the hospital following surgery?
-
Thank you! I will try to make the picnic and I will try to post after my surgery.

Hello, I am also new to NC by way of Colorado. We have lived here for 1 year exactly. Going to get my band tomorrow. I am excited and nervous all at the same time. Would love to hear from more of Dr. Bauman's patients. I was going to go with the Realize band but switched back to the LapBand at the last minute. Tough choice to make.
