Pearce, my surgeon told me that I should be able to eat anything but only a 3rd of a cupful, for each meal, this is your sweetspot. That is a tiny portion if you try to put it in a cup. I can eat almost anything, but steer away from bread and sadly fruit unless its very soft fruit, apples just give me discomfort and oranges give me an acidy feeling in my chest, but everyones toleration is different. And many congratulations on your superb weightloss. -

Found the piccy, yeh I know I'm pulling a stupid face..sorry Thats the jacket, at that time I was 10stone, and at 5ft 8ins tall I was in a size 12/14... and I'd had 4 children...happy days. Its so sneaky the way the fat creeps on you. -

What are you asking Lemma? Do you think you should be losing more? As you say each of us is different. I think a lot depends on the amount of food you ate before, whether you lose it fast or not. I was never a big eater at one sitting, I grazed a lot, so in fact must have consumed a lot more calories than was good for me, hence the weight gain. But my weight loss has been slow, cos I still graze and mostly the wrong foods, I hold my hand up to that, but sometimes if I can only eat ice cream I will, the alternative being is to starve. Thats how i deal with my band and I am looking leaner these days. I feel much better when I get dressed to go out, I dont find myself continually looking in the mirror to see if that top makes me look fat, my clothes are much more comfortable. I am striving to fit into a jacket that I bought 30 years ago. its still tight but not like it used to be, thats my goal. I have a piccy somewhere I think of when it fitted me, I'll look for it. -

I found this and thought it may help us to understand why we get reflux at night... -

I'm glad my post has helped even if only a little. Jojo it sounds like your oesophagus is inflamed, according to Freddyboy, thats what he told me when it was happening every damn night, so I had a teardrop taken out until it calmed down a bit. You wouldnt believe how just having a tiny bit taken out could stop the reflux. When I went back the next month and had the teardrop put back in everything was fine. I cannot eat or drink too late at night or it comes back up, Jojo have you tried drinking with a straw? Thats what I do, instead of taking sips, and it goes down easier. Hope that helps a little. You have lost as much weight as me and you're 12 months behind as to when you got the band fitted, very well done girl!!!! -

Good luck Lyn, see you when its all done and dusted. Poor you FP, I know how you feel, I was the same, banded in Feb 2009, and by July I had only lost about 7 lbs. I thought I was a failure and it would never shift, then I had another fill and whoa, I couldnt hardly eat anything. I was over-filled but at least I lost weight. Dont let those negative comments from ignorant people get you down. The band is NOT a waste of money and it DOES work. They will have to eat their words a few months from now. People love to do this dont they, it makes me so angry, what do they know about the band if they havent got one??? You see when you get to your sweet spot, you can eat almost anything but in tiny quantities. Its quite hard to get used to the fact, I still try to eat more than my little tum will hold and have to run to the loo. Its the most awful feeling but I'm starting to learn. Imagine that your normal stomach is ..for want of a better term a big balloon, and your small tum is the size of a small baby's. If you think how much a baby can eat then you get the idea. I eat whatever I want, which is wrong I suppose and maybe thats why my weightloss is slow. I was never much good at this dieting lark, thats why I got the band in the first place. If you struggle with foods and they get stuck I think its because your band isnt tight enough yet. Some foods I never eat, like fruit and white bread,, but I eat what I can, take my vitamins and try to drink a lot. (mostly beer and vodka lol) I'm not very good at explaining things but I do hope it helps someone. -

Oh Lillie, dont fret hunny, Freddyboy is so busy he's slow to reply to mails, everyone will tell you that. Seems like maybe you should get rid of your gorgeous fella lol, its his fault you've gained weight. Seriously though, you will still feel like you can eat the same as before but after a few fills, its impossible. We have such a small pouch that Michael Van den Bossche has cards printed for his bandsters to carry with them, like an identity card and it says on that, that the holder of the card can only eat a 3rd of a cupful of food at any one time, and its so true. My band is so tight atm that I cant even manage that amount. I had 2 cream crackers for breakfast with Marmite on, and I was bloated, but bear in mind it changes every day. Good luck with your op sugar, you wont regret it. -

oh bloody hell Lemma, I bet you feel like crap you poor thing. Its strange how these things happen, but dont regret having your band chick, like Laila says the worst is over, and now every day will see you feeling better and more positive. DONT DESPAIR!!!!! You will soon be pain-free, and if you want to moan, go ahead, we all do it. Just get plenty of rest and dont overdo it. -

English Rose, OMG!!!!! You are an inspiration to us all, you have done even better than I thought. I know where you're coming from after you've had a leak you are petrified it could happen again, from a fill, but like you say Freddyboy is an expert, I feel so safe in his hands when having a fill or a de-fill. No Laila, but I would recommend him to anyone and of course Freddyboy for fills. Carrie, how time flies, 6 weeks, thats brilliant, how do you feel? Have you put on much weight? And have you found out the sex of the little babby? Sorry about all the questions hunny, but we've missed you, take care of you and dont be a stranger xxx -

Corkgal, what a crock of $hit, that is despicable, what a bitch she is, stealing your money. I personally think her name should be printed on here if only to stop the crime happening to someone else. I do hope you get your money back hunny. I know what its like paying back a loan. I had to get one to pay for my second op, and I'm still paying it. Actually on reflection I think her name is mentioned in this thread, somewhere. Wasnt she the very pushy one? -

Emsey, thank you for the advice, I was thinking along those lines and I think you're right. My daughter says she's going to ask Freddy if he can arrange for a late check out for the room, but I dont think you can expect him to do that. -

laila160 no I was banded both times by Michael Van den Bossche at the Bupa Southampton, I just happe4ned upon this site. I was going with Dr Chris, but Michael got me a free band from the manufacturer and the Bupa gave me 20% off the cost of the op, so in the end it worked out cheaper to go to Southampton. I liked Michael very much and trusted him, even though he made me pay again, I think it cost me 3500 the second time and the first time 6000. But remember, when I went for the second band the Euro exchange rate was almost equal to the pound. So this band has cost me almost 10 grand. -

Thanx Slinky for the info. Dont think my daughter will feel much like hanging around for 10 hours, so maybe we'll have to book the room. She doesnt know this, I'll break it to her gently lol.
