Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris
Freckles replied to susanlondon's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Oh Lilliebo, you poor thing, I'm so sorry you felt so much pain. We all differ so much dont we. Maybe the Bupa filled me with Morphine, cos the first time I felt a bit stiff but not too painful, the second time my port area was really stinging, but I know that was due to the fact that my surgeon had to detatch the old band and stitch the new one in, involves a bit of scraping/cutting as it attaches itself naturally. You shouldnt have had to keep asking for pain relief, I think thats dreadful, surely they realise that we're all different??? I must tell my daughter if she feels badly in pain like you did to insist on pain meds. The directions you have given are great, did you notice a shop that sold cigarettes on the way? I know there's one about 500 metres from the hotel but not sure in which direction :blushing: . -

Thanx Slinx, wish I didnt have all this loose skin though, spose its my age and lack of exercise this has gotta change. Good luck to the Flower girls lol(Daisy and Rosie), glad you have each other. Slinx we fly from manchester on Thursday about 4pm, even I am getting excited and am packing lol. Trying to sort out in my mind how many hours of dvd's I will need. My daughter cant wait, she's looking forward to changing her life. Since she was 13 she has watched what she has eaten, and managed to stay about the same until she had lipo on her tum and then the fat moved to her arms and upper torso, same happened to a friend of mine. She's sick of weight watching and does need the help of the band. She wants to lose about 4 stone I think. -

Yeh mines just above my belly button, on my left, but I wasnt banded by Dr Chris. My eldest daughters port is in between her boobs, she was banded through the hospital group, cant remember her surgeons name. There are plusses and minus's though, because where hers doesnt seem to move, it protrudes, and as she's lost weight it sticks out even more. Lucky she's got a good bust to hide it lol. Yay I have officially lost 4 stone as of today, the weight seems to be coming off these last few weeks, but the husband says I eat less than my 14 month old grandaughter. The good thing is, I'm never starving. -

Just a thought Rosie, are you taking the Milk Thistle tabs to cleanse your liver? They do work you know, my daughter has been on them for a few weeks now, and I take them every day as I like a drink, so they help. Sammy where did you get yours from? I know they were stronger than Holland and Barrets. -

Rosie, I'm gutted that you wont be there when we are, what a shame :wink2: Good luck to you and Daisy, though I bet you wont need it. When do you get the surgery? I dont think they do weigh you before the op, but someone who's been will tell you. Take care xxx -

Scooby, thats such a worry I do hope everythings ok with your port. I often get a bit of discomfort from the port, but mine had moved according to Freddyboy, its tilted, but hey it still works, so I can put up with it. You are probably putting strain on the muscles with all the uphill walking, but I'm sure Dr Chris will know and put your mind at ease. I think all you guys who exercise are so good, I dont have the damn energy. Thanx Slinky and Sammy about the distance from the hotel to hospital, I think I'll grab that cab after all lol. -

That will be nice Sammy with the holidays, something to look forward to. I dont think I need a defill, cos I'm losing and dont get the acid reflux now, cos I've stopped myself eating after 7pm, and its worked for me. I do get an acidy feeling often in the daytime though, even after drinking water!!! Whats that all about?? You must be so happy with your clothes hanging off you chick, its such a wonderful feeling knowing that this band works. Give yourself a bit of time hun, your baby is still young so the waist will shrink soon. xxx -

ahh thanx Slinx, at least I can get a cuppa. That's about £8 or £14 or so isnt it, expensive, but I hear Belgium is dear. I thought the hospital was quite near to the hotel, but it must'nt be within walking distance then? -

My daughter gets banded in 10 days and she's so excited. I'm looking forward to lazing in the hotel watching dvds lol. I said I would go collect her from the hospital the next day and she has said not to, as her taxi will be provided :cursing: I will stay with her all of op day until she wants to sleep ...if they'll allow it, does anyone know if they will? btw how much is a taxi from the hotel to hospital? -

Hi Sammy great to see you here again chick. Moving?? I thought you were gonna say Turkey then? So is Nigel flying for a Turkish airline, I spose he is. Wouldnt you move there? Well that would be lovely to see you again, and the gorgeous children, maybe we could meet up at Regis lol. I know what you mean about the money, I was gonna get a defill before Christmas, but now I'm thinking maybe not cos of the cost. Take care sweetpea xxx -

Thank you Slinx for your encouragement. Sorry Claire for judging I didnt mean to,the thing is I was never a huge eater, just a grazer, and not at 3am either, I mean in the daytime. You see so many obese peoples stories in magazines etc, and the amount of food they used to eat, before they went on this diet or that or had surgery, that is something Joe public associates with obesity, large amounts of food, it is like you say sometimes not true. I only started putting on weight when I retired from my job. When I was working I always watched what I ate but since finishing I didnt, simple as that. -

Thanx FP, I love food too, I spose we all do or we wouldnt be here lol. before you get the band you just dont realise how much food is part of your life. I dont ever go out for meals anymore, cos I couldnt eat one and it frustrates me, but I look forward to the day when I can. It may seem silly, but from having just a 3ml de-fill last year before we went to Austraiia, the difference it made. i could drink wine with my meals, and could eat anything albeit, very small portions, which was good because I hardly put any weight on in the 3 weeks we were away, so thats my goal. Then when I get the defill I will be able to eat sensibly (God I hate that word lol) and just have a little treat now and again and not gain weight. -

What a lovely post FP, if i didnt have a band already I would go for one after your positive remarks. I am only losing a pound a week, but at least its coming off. Since July I have only lost 12lbs, but I tell myself its almost a stone. I dont diet, I eat exactly what I want to, thats why. i cant eat much but really enjoy what I eat. i would like the weight loss to be faster, but I cant always eat healthy stuff, so i have to be thankful that I am losing at least. Charlene, so glad you got the bank sorted, silly girl isnt she, bet the manager wasnt happy with her. -

Lilliebo, yes I know what you were thinking. As long as you play the game you will be fine, I wish i had known this at the time with my surgeon. I went for a couple of fills with manchester Xray, so he more or less blamed them for the leak. Charlene, my daughter did her transfer online. if you have online banking it should give you the option to set up a foreign transfer. Thanx Slinx, I think she will be ok with having an extra night, but us Mums always worry dont we.lol -

Of course you're not being nosey hun, its not a problem. I was banded twice because my first band done in December 2005 developed a leak after 2 years. My story is in this thread quite a long way back, about 2008 I had to pay again, but at a reduced rate, but the total for both bands cost almost £10000, still paying the loan. BUT!!! I was not banded by Dr Chris. He will do it free of charge providing you have all your fills with his company, which is fair enough, and a credit to him, for being such a good person. Initially after the leak I was going to Belgium with Dr Chris, but with the discount given to me by the Bupa it worked out cheaper to have it done by my original surgeon, who is a lovely man, but works for the Bupa and he managed to get me a new band free of charge, but i still had to pay for the op. -

FP poor you hunny, if you are throwing up a lot, maybe you should get your GP out to give you tablets to control it. Its not good for you to be throwing up it puts a strain on the band and I dont want to frighten you but I've read that you can rupture your tum. Please take care of you. -

Charlene, our flights not until night time either, we just booked another night, so my daughter could rest for the day, but there are 2 of us to split the cost. I'm sure there will be a comfy chair for you to sit in for a few hours, shame you cant have a drink like you say. Slinx, the drink was Calpol lol, I hope she's ok cos my other daughter wasnt she was really weak and in pain, but she only had the night in hospital and came out the next day, her surgery had taken place in the evening. You do need the rest before travelling. My poor girl had to lay on the back seat of the car for a 2 hour journey from the Midlands. -

Thanx Slinx, yes we're on the countdown now, 2 weeks today we fly out, her ops the following day. She's not a bit scARED like I was, she's just excited and cant wait. She had Liposuction on her stomach last year and she was just a mass of bruising and she had to wear a corset thing for weeks, so she thinks this wont be as bad. I'm not so sure, we'll see. I know after my first band my hubby was amazed cos I was sat up in bed painting my nails lol. And the second time, well you must have seen my pic on here of me in the hospital? Good luck Lilliebo wont be long now and you'll be done and dusted. Dont forget to let us know how you get on. -
