Thank you Mmm for the info....I'll check Easyjet and Flybe out, though its prolly dearer from Manchester, but that seems the best option. See you when you're a loser if I dont see you before xxx:thumbup: Gillian and Big sis, I wouldnt worry too much, I dont think Df Chris is gonna turn you away cos you ate too much, sometimes we have to pig out. If I dont get a chance to wish you well (again) I hope for you to have a safe trip , op and for everything to go to plan, I certainly will be thinking of all of you.xxxxx -

Thank you hunny for the info. I am thinking of changing the date because of valentines day, the flights and hotel seem to be more expensive, you know how they milk everything for Valentines. Actually I dont even know yet cos it dosnt seem like my x-rays have arrived. Hopefully they will arrive tomorrow. Then I can make definite plans. May I wish you a good surgery experience and an early recovery and that soon you will be home in familiar and comfortable surroundings. This is my wish for all of you having your op. -

Sorry Wishful I am so dozey, only just read your reply re Ryanair from Manchester. Thank you for that info, I think I'm going to struggle for the dates because of Valentines day ( my fella's birthday too) I will check the times of Ryanair flights, cos you have to see Dr Chris the day before dont you, so was thinking of travelling on 13th..... -

Thank you Gillian and BTS..for the info...I have checked Brussels airline and for us to go on 13th Feb will cost about £111/£114 each, so that may be the best option for us. Thats flying from Manchester...I would have preferred Liverpool John Lennon as its nearer for us, but nobody does Brussels from there anymore. I dont fancy the hike down to get the Eurostar much so thats not an option for us. My 93year old Mum lives with us so I am going to have to put her into Respite for a couple of weeks because I wont be able to look after her, and they'll prolly charge me for that  So many options to weigh up isnt there:angry_smile::regular_smile: -

Thank you Big sis and Wishful for the info. I think if I could get a flight nearer it would be better cos its only me and the hubby coming, and we'd have to do the same trip back again after I'm discharged. Distance-wise I mean. Surely there's an airport nearer than 55km???? -

EDIT: Just noticed that Mmm says its a short taxi ride from the hospital I'm so glad you are all here for me to ask, sorry to be a pain though:blushing: -

Thanx Wishfull and Gillian, I'm trying to find which airline flies to Brussels from Liverpool, I think Easyjet do it, but not sure which airport I need to fly into. I tried a little googling but its harder than you think:crying: Which airport are you guys flying into and from where? Oh sorry, we're going to Benidorm this will be our 15th visit, can you tell we like it? It will be warm and sunny in the day ...at night a little cool. We went last year in January and it was the same. -

Does anyone know what hotel is nearest to the hospital...so i havent got to mess about waiting for taxis, or is this not possible? My daughter went to Brussels last year for liposuction and she ended up having to get a train to her hospital as the hotel told her the taxis didnt run so early in the morning. I dont want to be in that position. Thanx girls xx -

Have you had a leak in your port/tubing and had to have it replaced?
Freckles replied to DrewsLou's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I really dont know of any lawsuits here in the UK regarding faulty bands Wolf, but I am sure going ahead with my case if possible. When my solicitor confirms if they will take my case on as a 'no win no fee' against the manufacturer. I feel that because the band is faulty then they should pay for the surgery to remove it and then maybe when they have examined it and it is proven that its not their fault, then ask me for the money back, if it was my fault or the fault of the surgeon ( which i doubt). So I will keep you posted about this. But you know how long lawyers take to make decisions dontcha. Stay happy, you still have your life. -

Thanx Wishful ...well I have promised myself that I will give up after this op as I cant smoke in hospital. My hubby gave it up for 18 years and then started again, just proves to me that the urge never seems to leave you:eek: So keep it up hunny, good for you. I was also wondering if they give you tubes in your nose (oxygen) after the op, as that was my experience, after the op and that night, along with the stockings. Oxygen does give a feeling of well-being. Is it normal procedure these days? -

Gillian, you dont know?:glare::laugh: Arent you on it? Does this diet last for a week or 2? Geez, cutting down on the fags, no alcohol, no food, can I have s*x???:w00t::laugh: Been reading some of the 'after op' experiences......a bit scarey for me, as I dont remember having any pain, except when I had to sort of lower myself onto the loo for wee wees. After the op, I was actually back in my room, painting my nails and yakking to my daughters on the phone, then sleeping, the day and night wizzed by and it was soon time for me to fly home. I had to ask for a seat belt extension though as my tummy was tender, and the cabin crew were great, it wasnt a problem I just said I had had surgery on my tum. That was on Flybe. So I hope I have the same sort of experience this time, I dont feel nervous about the op, as I'll be out of it. I hope all you girlies who are getting banded soon, have the same experiences as me and will come back and tell us all about it. -

Ooops!!! Forgot to ask, does everyone have to do the pre op diet irrespective of their BMI? I didnt have to do this when I got my first band. -

Thanx everyone for your positive replies, to tell you the truth I feel really good about Dr Chris, cant wait to go now. I expect, nearer the date (when I get one) I'll be bricking it  But its only for a day or two and then the fat will fall off....cant wait, I have a wardrobe full of clothes that are too tight, even my underwear wont fit me anymore, had to buy fat stuff it really sucks doesnt it. Well Mmm when you fly the pressure tightens your band hunny, I didnt usually have a problem with flights of 2/3 hours it was the ones over 7hours....and it was both ways. So came back from New York and Florida etc....thinner than when I went, which is all good, cos those places are full of eateries, and I couldnt eat ...I could inhale though and watch the others eat. I find it strange that Dr Chris is not charging me extra for removal of the band, so have written asking him to confirm thanx Wishful for the info. If i have missed anyone who replied to my posts, I apologise...but there was so many posts after mine...sorry...and thanx again for your good wishes and help -

I wish, I doubt if i will get an appointment that fast...do you? I see you going for your band !!!!! Great news!! btw I dont know if the price includes any fills, does anyone else know? I have sent my x-rays off to Belgium today...would be great if I got one that fast though...I have actually asked for any date after 9th FEB as we're on holiday, so fingers crossed. Wishful, no  its deffo cos of my age, cos he said UK ladies over 55 he does not usually operate on so he would charge an extra forfeit of 500euros....damn!!! The price quoted ... But sweet of you to say that, forgot to say that to Gillian too:laugh: I dont know if thats the normal price or if its more because of the removal of the old band cos surgery will obviously take longer. -

You gotta be kidding me??? £28,000 for the removal of your band??? That is silly money and what a dreadful thing to happen to you Wolf. However, erosion of gastric bands is quite common I believe, if I'm wrong i'm sure someone will correct me. But why didnt the surgeon replace the faulty band when he operated? Did he give you that option? btw welcome to the forum and congratulations on you weight loss. -

Hig girls, I havent read every post in this thread but i did notice someone mentioned LAP BAND. Can I just ask if that band was made by a certain American company called Allergan? I was self-funded in December 2005, only lost 2 stone, never seemed to have the right amount of restriction and then in February 2008 it was discovered that my actual band has a leak. My surgeon will not do the corrective surgery at a reduced rate, the hospital will give me a discount, but havent said how much. Allergan have agreed with my surgeon to supply a new band but will not take any responsibility until they have examined the faulty band. To do this I must have surgery. Bit of a cache 22 eh. Btw I am in the UK. -

Yes i told them and they offered me a discount on my next op, didnt say how much though:frown: My surgeon told the manufacturer and they have offered a new band (but I dont have any faith in theirs now, so will decline) they simply refuse to pay for surgery as they want to examine it first!!!!!! How????? CDB knows that I have still got the faulty band implanted and will remove it for me, when he puts the new one in. The only time my band worked as it should have (only recently found this out from reading on all the weight loss sites) was after long-haul flights, hence I only lost 2 stone. It would appear that the band had a sort of 'slow puncture' and then sort of blew, if you get my drift, thats my theory anyway, I may be wrong on that. Thanx Gillian and Wishful for your replies:teeth_smile: -

I should have said that I already have a band, since december 2005. Was banded in the Spire Southampton...but in Feb 2008 it developed a hole. So am going to get done again....I loved my band so much, and have put on weight so am now heavier than when I started in 2005. I think maybe I am the oldest bandster here, cos I have to pay an extra 500 euros because I am an old trout:blink: -
