thereikiroom where did you find that post from Jiggy, cos she says 2008? Was it at the begining of the thread? Sorry I dont have time to look back. I dont seem to have lost any weight at all this week, and I've thrown up nearly everything I have eaten.... think my body is in denial. -

Thanx Fatpants, I know exactly what you mean about the fizzy drink on top of a full tum, it scared me to death, and the first time it was awful, I thought I was going to faint, but it works, and now I look forward to it. My Mum came home for good on Monday and she's settling in nicely. We have a carer who comes in every morning to give her a shower, and things are really looking up, she seems to be walking, albeit slowly, a lot better cos at one time she couldnt even weight bear, thanx for asking xxx. Hi Debby, firstly i am so very sorry about your bad news and pray everything will work out for you both. Your pain may be wind a lot of us got it after surgery, mine was sorted out with Remegel, but i know some ladies suffered for a long time. How funny you are going to Oz a couple of days before me, but how lucky are you that you are staying for 6 weeks!!!! I hope you get to go anyway. Where in Oz are you going? I am going to Broadbeach on the Gold Coast, but am doing a bit of the far east first, we fly to the Gold Coast on 8th November from Kuala Lumpar. My band is so tight I can hardly eat anything again, so am having a de-fill on 8th October with Freddyboy. But being as you havent long been banded you will prolly be fine with having a bit in. -

Hi Chapamar, nice to meet you, all the way from the USA!!! Gillian have a fab holiday hunny, nice to see you again. Lynxie, I had pain and tenderness in my port area for a long time, maybe 5/6 weeks, and sometimes it does get tender even now. Fatpants, what I have started doing when I have that horrid feeling in my chest is drinking something fizzy, like diet coke or soda water, if there is something that needs to come up, this always does it for me, and if its only wind, which I find hard to get up, it brings that up. Just a little tip, which works for me. When I had my first band and flew long haul, I couldnt eat hardly anything for the whole 2 weeks, my band was so tight, but I didnt feel hungry but was drooling watching the others tuck into their lovely meals, not nice. I am hoping that Freddy boy will take out 4 and half mls for me as I have 6 and half in now, and still have acid reflux most nights as we go to the far east and Oz in 5 weeks, and I have to be able to eat and sleep and we are doing a lot of flights. My appointment is on 8th October, I cant wait!!!! I have been taking Zantac which work great for me most of the time, for the acid. Fatpants enjoy your holiday girl!! -

Anita, I am shocked and disgusted with your GP's attitude toward you, she needs to be reported. Whatever her personal views, they should be kept private, she is there to help you as her patient. How dare she judge you! Nasty woman. You need support and kindness at this time, I think I would change my doctor, you dont have to put up with that. Thanx Homecare for your kind words xx -

Carrie have a fabulous time hunny xxx. Kaka WOW!!! Good luck sweetie. Let us know how you are doing afterwards. Time is now, yes Maggs, I would agree, dont beat yourself up over what you've eaten, its over and done with, just try to be good lol. Like we all are !!!! I dont have much choice, I tried to eat a few Celebrations yesterday but felt so sick after 2 I had to stop. Today a mug of hot Oxo is not going down well, and I just made a beautiful saucepan of Scouse and its smells divine, but none for me for a few hours. -

Ha ha, you can have some of my stress if you like kid. My daughter reckons that the more pb'ing you do the more the band tightens, and it does work for me, not that I want it tighter, just sometimes I am so uncomfortable I have to pb. Good luck with your next fill, you'll probably get the full restriction then. -

Ahh poor you Maggs, seems very odd that you're near max and can eat all that. I think I would be mailing Dr Chris to ask if this is normal, I dont want to worry you, but it doesnt seem right to me. Maybe you need all the saline taking out and fresh going in. Michael told me that quite often some of the saline just disappears into the body so you may not have in as much as you think. Another thing is you dont have much to lose, so maybe this is your body's way of hanging onto what you have. Sorry if I sound negative but what I've said is the worse case scenario Maggs. maybe someone else has other ideas??? -

Shoes...WOW!!! you have done so well, wish I had lost that much weight. Last night we had friends round, I had one of those small Birds Eye chicken pieces, well three quarters of it, about 6:30 and I still couldnt even have a drink at midnight, pb'd a few times, and this morning its so tight, I am struggling to drink my coffee. Sat up most of the night and was a bit sick too, I really really wish I had had a small defill in July as I think my band has tightened once again. Thats my moan for the weekend...sorry, but i feel awful today. -

Actually, I do have some clothes from when I lost a couple of stone with my first band so I'm not so bad off. I have bought a few things but with BA our baggage allowance is only about 20 kilos, and the other flights are the same, so cant take too many clothes. We have booked a few hotels with washing machines, etc, so we'll just have to keep wearing the same clobber lol. I get hiccups all the time, even when I havent eaten and sometimes when I've only had a drink of water, drives me nutz lol. I agree its not a feeling of fullness, but hopefully we will get to know our body's signs soon, we have to just play it by ear I spose. -

Oh me4ant to say, even if its only your second fill, be grateful girl lol. Sometimes it takes numerous fills to get to your point. However it may loosen off as sometimes happens when you get restriction early on. -

Homecare I know exactly what you're saying. I still dont know when to stop eating, its so hard. What I try to do is just put 1/2 cup of food out for myself, as this is the amount we're sposed to eat I believe, in any one sitting. I often cant eat it all and sometimes I could eat double the amount. It really takes a lot of getting used to, these silent partners are not so silent are they lol. But I would never be without mine I love it so much. I tried clothes on yesterday that I was wearing in August and they're so loose, I cant believe it, its amazing!!! -

Homecare, for me thats normal, I can only manage 1/2 cupful of anything at a meal. In fact my Bandster identity card does state that. I have found something new that I can eat by the bagful, which is not good, French Fries...81 cals a bag, and I can eat 2 bags at a time!!!! Saying that though, that would be my meal, cos I couldnt eat anything for at least 3 1/2 hours after. You are so good Garry with all your exercise, but that wouldnt apeal to me at all, all those bodies sweating...yuk, doesnt bear thinking about lol, was the room quite smelly, cos there's always someone who doesnt care about personal hygene isnt there, unless you're really lucky. -

Thanx girlies for the well wishes about Mum, she's sat up in bed with a bag of candy mice watching TV atm. Maggs, you can read the book online in that link I gave you, but I spose you couldnt read it in bed lol. Darling when i saw you in Cardiff you didnt look like you needed to lose another 28lbs...you looked pretty good to me. I hope you get your pain sorted Ivesy. -

Had another refluxing night, kept waking up with it, puked all over the duvet too. Its not getting any better, I am so sorry that I didnt get that little bit out, I have suffered dreadfully and its my own stupid fault, well that and the money. Cant wait for the 8th October so I can get a good nights sleep. My Mum is coming home for the night tonight, I do hope it goes well, then maybe next week she will be able to come home for good. I have been hospital/nursing home visiting for 7 months now and I'm bushed. I mailed Michael telling him my port had moved upwards a good 3 inches and was that normal. He says he cant comment until he examined me...gee thanx for that duh!! -

Firstly let me say, poor you Garry...maybe you shouldnt have had that little bit out after your fill, but I'm sure you've thought that yourself? Easy to comment after the event. Next time eh? Homecare, since July 4th I have lost 19 and a half pounds. Its been pretty slow, but consistant. Taking into consideration, my age and I have been really bad and not done any exercise at all, cos I havent felt like it, its good for me. In total I am 5lbs off the 3 stone mark, but was banded in february 09, so thats slow to some guys on here. I didnt have any restriction until June. -

Dont get disheartened Anita, i was banded in february and didnt see much weightloss until May, after a couple of fills. You will get there, I know it seems like forever, but it will work hunny. Poor Cathy, I know how you feel hunny, the reflux is dreadful, even now i have to sleep sitting up until about 4am, then I can lie down properly. Like I keep saying, these ignorant people who say the band is the easy way out, need to darn well try one for a few months, they would change their minds then. Wishful, I will look forward to maybe seeing you chick. xxx -

hey maggs, great to see you back. Well you'll soon get the 5lbs off, you have been away for a while havent you, so thats not too bad is it. I was doing a bit of googling and came across this. Please click Gastric Band My Silent Friend - Google Books I found it so amusing, all about a lady and her band/eating/etc its quite funny. -

has anyone heard from Sammy lately? Was wondering how she's doing, pregnant and back at work, poor love. Roseta, a bit of advice, dont eat anything for a few hours before your fill, the reason being is what happened to me. We travelled down to Southampton took about 3 or more hours, so we ate a couple of sandwiches. (well I ate half, but I also ate a 4 finger kit kat) I got my fill an hour later and of course cos it was so tight, it couldnt go anywhere, and I suffered for hours, cos I didnt realise. later that night I vomited it all, because I couldnt even swallow my saliva I was so full. I hope that helps you hunny, just be very careful. -

Sorry cant weight, I did read your post and was going to reply, I'm such a plonka!! I knew in an hour or so I had restriction, but sometimes its the next day, with me anyway. I have had this restriction since early July, and my God its hard, yesterday I couldnt hardly eat anything, just 2 crispbreads, nore could I get much liquid down, its scarey. Today I drank a mug of coffee, but it was difficult. I tried some All Bran but only managed 2 tespoonfuls. I am at present struggling to get down an Actimel. I just wish I had had a de-fill in July, but I was so pig-headed, I thought it would loosen off, and here we are 2 months later and its still awfully tight. Everyones doing so well. Thank you Carrie for your reply, I hope you enjoyed that wondeful meal, sounds scrummy. Thanx to you too Wishful xx Is anyone going to see Freddyboy on 8th October? My appointment is at 1:30. -

Ok everyone I really need an answer to this......define productive burping please. I have had a discussion with my (banded) daughter and she says its when you lose the whole meal. I always thought it was just gloop and a few things that hadnt been chewed properly. What are everyone else's views? I also find that if I have overeaten (chance would be a fine thing eh) but it feels like that on a tiny amount, then if I crunch some ice cubes in my mouth, or even let them melt it eases the horrid choking/uncomfortable feeling in my chest.
