Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris
Freckles replied to susanlondon's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Thanx Shoes for your kind words xx Slinky, like Shoes says we are all different. I was re-banded in Southampton and after a day in hospital we drove home to the North West, it took about 4 to 5 hours, and I felt good, I think maybe standing around in airports is not ideal after surgery but sitting in your own car being driven home may be easier. You could always stop and have a nap in the caravan if you need it. I think its sounds like a good idea. see what others think, but then it will depend on how long the drive will be, would you be able to lie down in the back of the car if need be? -

wannabe slinky thats nice of you to say. If I hadnt had a de-fill in October to go on holiday for 3 weeks, I feel I would now be at my target weight. But the holiday was fantastic so I wouldnt have missed it for the world. I went for a fill in December and Freddyboy said he couldnt put it all back in, so I have been able to eat pretty much what I wanted, so havent lost anything. I'll have to insist he puts enough in this time to get me back to where I was before October, though not quite as much cos I was over filled. The thing is I have paid all that money for fills and now I want the band to work properly again, so here's hoping he can get it all back in minus .5mls. Only a couple of days to go. Good luck to all the newbies you wont ever regret the choice you have made, it certainly will change your life. Garry and Bobo you are brilliant you have done so well!!!! Carrie, I agree we do get carried away with wanting to be slimmer, when sometimes a certain weight is just right for our bodies. You have done so well xxx -

Have you had a leak in your port/tubing and had to have it replaced?

Brilliant Make3, so glad its all over for you, and the news about the fill is tremendous!!! So was it a general anesthetic, well at least you were prepared for the worse, even though it didnt happen eh lol. I live just outside Liverpool in the North of England, but many years ago when I was about 15 I used to live in Sandwich and Deal, both in Kent. My dad was in the RAF so we travelled around a lot. My sister and brother in law live in washington, it is a small world. A war bride, ahh thats so sweet, is your mum still alive? Mine is and she's nearly 95 ! -

Thank you Baarbs, thats so nice of you xx fatty patty, thats hilarious, only because thats what my bro calls me even when i was a size 12, many moons ago. Cos thats my name too. The part that I love about the band is that once you get to your sweet spot, you dont feel hungry so you dont care if you cant eat a lot, I hope to get to that next fill. There's not many horror stories about these bands, if any??? most surgery is straightforward and most bands work exceptionally well, I would never have had another band placed if there were any adverse effects. I think its nothing short of a miracle. So good losing to you all, work with your band, you have to get to know it and befriend it. -

You my dear, are very welcome. I was quite terrified myself, and had nobody to ask, so i understand. There's nothing to be scared of, as I said my port area was quite sore, this was because the surgeon had to cut the band away from some muscle that the band/port had attached itself to. It was only a burning feelng nothing unbearable at all, and I am one big baby. Let me know how you get on sweetheart i will be pleased to hear from you and keep smiling xxxx -

Hunny you'll be fine, i had my whole band replaced a year ago, and was only a little sore in the port area after surgery. I now have 10 scars instead of 5, but i dont care cos I'm too old to wear a bikini anyway. This new band is excellent, I am so glad I had the surgery over again. btw we are the same age. Good luck xx -

Hi Eric, many thanx for taking the time to post about jeans progress, so glad its over for her and that she's doing well. bet you were scared when they thought it was you for the op lol. Give jean and Jojo our love cant wait for them to tell of their experiences. There are too many posts for me to reply to as I'm on the lappy and I hate it. I feel a little low too, as yesterday I had to put my Mum in a home, it was getting too much for me, I did everything for her apart from breathe. My family and even the social workers told me it was too much for me, after her living with us for 7 years, and she has deteriorated dreadfully since she broke her hip. So I feel like a failure, i know I'm not but I feel so sorry for Mum, she was scared to be going into a home, but I just couldnt go on, it was making me so stressed out. Sorry to be a bore. Will come back when I feel more positive. -

Yes Carrie, I would agree, I hated sitting up to go to sleep, I suffered that for 3 months lost 3 stone and when I had the defill had a great night's sleep that night and ever since. But I couldnt hardly drink any sort of liquid , I could tolerate cream crackers more, so had to crunch ice cubes. How different these bands are aint they. Good luck to Jeanie and Jojo, cant wait for you both to get back. Take care of each other. xxx -

Sorry that didnt work for you fatpants. My daughter and her friend who were banded in 2004 and have both got to their target weight swear by it. Of course anythings worth a try when you are so uncomfortable, what works for some doesnt for others. If you still feel as if somethings stuck, could it be the actual restriction? -

Thank you TIN for your apology, all that I wonder is why in the first place. Jeanie, you're not far away from me, I'm in Runcorn so its pretty easy to go to Manchester, right near the airport, Frederik does the fills there for £90. He is good at it too. -

Welcome jeaniejinx. I know just how you feel, we all do, its only apprehension really, the fear of the unknown. Wont be long and you'll be a loser!!! I think most of us needed about 3 or 4 fills until we got to our sweet spot, sometime with 'hiccups' in between Each of us is different, some people need less fills and some people more. Its something you wont actually know until you get your fills. I have had 5 fills, my fourth one took me up to 6.5 mls, which was far too much, I needed to have .5 taken out, but I wanted to lose more quickly (which was silly I spose) I lost over 2 stone and then I had a defill cos I was going on a 3 weeks holiday to the far east and oz. I could then eat whatever I wanted, only in small portions, but was never hungry, I also drank a lot of booze, and only put on a little weight, about 2 kilos. Then I went for a top up, but am only at 5mls I think and am still my pre-defill weight, which is wonderful. But now I want a little bit more put in so my restriction is better. I hope that helps you a little hun, and best wishes for next week. xx -

Oh God sorry Fatpants I didnt see your post I forgot to go to the next page. Like I said to HC I know how it goes, especially the curdled milk waking you up, its horrendous... you poor thing. Have you tried taking a fizzy drink to shift it, usually that works for me, I know you feel like you couldnt possibly get it down and the pain is awful for a few short minutes, but whatever is lodged always comes up for me, and you feel so much relief its unbelievable. Also any sort of stress will cause the band to tighten, and if you are on mostly water etc, that will make it tighten too. Let us know how it goes chick , good luck xxx -

Oh dear Homecare, what a bummer. I know what you're going through and according to my family I was a right misery through my period of being over-filled. I was overjoyed nevertheless cos the weight was dropping off. I'm sorry I cant give you any advice really hun, silly though it may seem. Just make sure that you drink plenty, cos I didnt, I struggled getting anything down which caused bowel problems if you remember. So look after yourself, and if you fancy anything, eat what you can of it. I couldnt eat ice lollies either, the only thing I could eat was cream crackers with butter and marmite. If you like the idea of that just try it may work for you too. -

glad you mentionmed it hun, cos after all, you have paid for aftercare and that is one of the most important things, you shouldnt have had to take yourself to the bathroom if you felt so groggy. One thing I have to say on behalf of the Spire (was Bupa) Southampton is that I was checked all through the night and if awake was asked if I needed anything, the nursing was superb.. Big Sis, you will soon get that off, brilliant weight loss so far, I have to lose another couple of stone too. Sorry this is such a quick post, laters xxx -

Woot, so glad you dropped in Big Sis, missed you and Gillian like mad. You always made me chuckle with your banter. Thats not bad putting on 3lbs, good luck with your new start/continuation. Thats what I love about my band, I know if I put a few pounds on I can get it off. I have been a bit naughty, a sweet friend (sorry for the pun) bought me one of those little chocolate fountaIN thingys for xmas, how cruel, I love it, and have ate so much chocolate its a wonder I havent put weight on. But because I cant eat much at any meal I have been scoffing the melted choc, with marshmallows...I know my bad. But I am silly cos I'm still the same weight as I was when I came back from my trip in November. With xmas I just havent tried, but I will soon. Good luck Tracey xxxx Poor you Cankster, what prats.... not answering your bell, and causing you to fall. I would have screamed the place down, that is unforgivable. Maybe worth while mentioning it to Dr Chris or Freddyboy. Take care , everyone . xxx
