lol, no you wont have been scammed hun, Freddyboy is a bit dozey when it comes to replying to mails. Not good business I admit, but he doesnt seem to read them very often. I'm sure everything will be fine for you. Others will vouch for him, please dont worry. I think English Rose has a phone number for him, it might be better to speak to him over the phone to put your mind at rest. -

Sweetheart, wonderful news, so happy that hubby has now come to terms with it!!!! Dont worry about having the band, a few of our daughters on here who have bands have had babies last year, and now have continued their weight loss, so all is not lost. Just enjoy food while you can and make a beautiful little baby:biggrin: Maybe you should be chewing the food more thoroughly hunny, so it wont stick, that wont do you any good. -

Thanx Julie, I do have a new band now, but still fighting to be compensated for the extra expense of the second band. Its actually over 12 months now since I first sought out a solicitor who would take my case. I dont know what happened to my old port but i find it a bit fishy that MVDB didnt send that back to the manufacturer for examination, when in fact he told me he had sent the band back???? -

Rose I am using a No win No fee solicitor, I cant afford to use anyone else either. Also most of my fills were done at the Bupa (Spire) too. Mine was in Southampton, where was yours? -

Funny you should say that about the damaged band being given to the patient. Michael sent mine back to the manufacturer for examination, but i have only just found out that he didnt send the port back with it...mmmm...now i wonder why? My solicitor has requested the damaged band back for further investigation, if his law firm will allow/pay for this, dont know yet. We are so in the dark about this stuff doesnt seem fair does it. We save so hard for the op, and then it doesnt live up to our expectations, well a few of us, unlucky ones. i think anyone would be wise to go with Dr Chris as like I said before his morals are pretty high, in that he will provide the op for free if the band turns out to be faulty, which we know can happen. -

I can understand that also ERose, because they are not to know whether the other filler damaged the band. Saying that however, the only fills I had on my first band were with the surgeon ( Michael Van den Bossche) and Manchester x-ray, which obviously were done under X-ray, but I still had to pay again. the manufacturer of my band will not compensate me for the trauma of a further op, my solicitor advised today, because they say there was no trauma involved????? Like I love going in for a quick op just for fun...pratts. Solicitor still has cards up his sleeve, so will report the progress if any. Meanwhile I hope all goes well for you with Dr Chris, I'm sure if there's any doubt where the leak is, he will replace the whole thing. -

Lindsay, the low fat diet is to reduce any fat in your liver, because if your liver is too big and fatty its hard for the surgeon to place the lapband xx -

Sorry julie, I wasnt here when you wrote that post. I think how you're feeling is quite normal, for me it was the same. I could eat anything and was starving all the time. I think your mind plays little tricks on you cos we build up to the op and not being able to eat and once its over we try and we can. Dont worry as soon as you have a few fills you wont be able to eat much. I think most people go through this hunny. -

My daughter was asking if anyone has had hypnosis for their weight, the one where you have a virtual Gastric band? I've heard of that Slinky, also the one where they do the op through your belly button so no scars. Lost a bit more weight today, I have been eating Cheerios instead of chocolate, maybe thats why lol. I find these go down really good, not for brekky, though, for my evening meal. -

Rose, thats not a bad deal hunny, and I think its only because you didnt use Dr Chris's team for your fills. I only used M.v.d Bossche and the Manchester X-ray for mine but I still had to pay out almost 4,000 pounds for the second band, albeit the manufacturer gave me a free band, instigated by Michael, also the Bupa gave me a 20% discount off the surgery, but that was still the total and I had to pay for my own travel and hotel in Southampton from the North West. I had a contrast study done under x-ray at the Alexandria in Manchester, which cost me over 150 pounds, to ascertain where the leak was, and it was still wrong when Michael came to remove the band he found it had eroded. The band was sent back to the manufacturer for examination and I am still none the wiser why it happened. My solicitor is still trying to get me compensated for all the pain and suffering I endured due to the faulty band, so I dont think your deal is too bad. Seems to me Dr Chris has more scruples and professionalism than the Bupa Hospitals. I know its a lot of money and I would be mad at having to pay that amount out through no fault of your own and please dont think I dont sympathise because I do, I think there should be some insurance cover put in place for all bandsters. There is a thread on here relating to leaks and faulty bands, I have written a few posts in it. I really hope this wont put people off either, because I would, without doubt go through it again. Good luck Rose and keep us posted on your progress in Belgium xxx -

For God's sake, what a damn shame, you poor girl. I had a leak also and had to pay out another £3590, but not with dr Chris, I was banded both times with Van den Bossche in the Bupa Southampton, the manufacturer gave me a free band, but it took me a year to get the op done and I put on 2 stone and was heavier when I had the second one than in the begining. Good luck sweetheart. -

So last night before I went to sleep I ate 2 teaspoons of Honey, dont ask me why I just thought I'd try it, being natural and all, and guess what, no reflux all night. Now I dont know if it was a fluke, but I will be doing that again tonight, just to see. -

I know what you mean maggs, before i got this tiny bit put in I was putting on weight, only a couple of pounds, but you have to keep on top of that dont you. I cant get any out cos I will be back to what I was at my last fill, where I had restriction but wasnt losing. I know where you're coming from Bobo, but do you understand my predicament and it seems that maggs is the same  It is awful when it comes up in your throat and disturbs your sleep, horrible, sicky taste too. -

I think you're right Bobo, it is too tight, but I didnt have much put in last week, my card says 0.5 mls, but I dont think its right cos I already had in 6.25 and now it says 6.5. Am i being thick here. btw thanx for the explanation of why we get the reflux, I did have something to eat last night 2 hours before bed, a few of those little cheddars...so its my own fault isnt it. -

I think you are very wise to just have a bit out, it took me 3 fills to get back to what I was before the de-fill Bobo. This damn acid reflux is a real pain, anyone know why it happens? I'm okay when I am just laying there reading but as soon as I fall asleep it starts, whats that all about? Gonna see if I can do some research. -

well done bobo, congratulations, its a great feeling isnt it!!!! I was amazed that I was overweight and not obese, its amazing. We love our bands dont we!!!! Have you had a complete de-fill? i had some left in when I got m ine, and I could eat drink and whatever but knew when I was full, and stopped. No PBing or any other symptoms it was great!!! You may put on a couple of pounds like i did, but nothing major. I hope your flights pan out cos its still not good is it. On the other thing, I did eat the rest of the soup an hour later, so it wasnt too bad. Like atm I am trying to eat a mashed banana and I'm having trouble, it doesnt want to go down, so experience tells me to leave it for an hour or so, and this is lunch lol. Paul, you havent got enough in yet so maybe the next fill will do it, I hope so anyway!! -

Weightogo I must assume you were replying to my post lol. Maybe the best thing to do is see your GP and see what he/she has to say. I know it sounds cold, but there's little else you can do atm. If you decide on abortion then thats your decision, and no one elses. It's your body and your life, dont feel too badly about it, at the end of the day if the child is not wanted, then it would be worse to give birth to 'it'. try not to cry darling everything happens for a reason and maybe the shock of the operation has changed things in your body, maybe you're not pregnant after all. Fingers crossed for you hunny and please keep us posted. You have support here xxxx -

I keep meaning to say this but forget. Michael van den Bosche maintains that with a band one should be able to eat anything, just in smaller amounts. Freddyboy and co say you shouldnt be able to eat fresh bread or red meat. On the contrary I find I can eat anything but in tiny portions, saying that however I steer away from bread and chips as they do tend to stick. I can eat most other things, but like I say in tiny portions. Anyone else got any views on this? -

Yes I realise that Shoes, if it becomes a regular thing, (the vomiting) then I will probably get some taken out. atm its only been last night, and its my own fault for taking my meds too late. I'm sposed to take them just before I go to sleep, think I'm gonna have to change that to mornings now. Thank you for caring anyway xxx. Its very tight today, I had 3 crackerbreads for breakfast, after my coffee. Was a struggle. Then just now I tried a very small bowl of homemade liquidised pea and ham soup and I only managed 1 desertspoonful. I dont feel hungry just tried it cos it was lunchtime ...its hard habit to get out of. Oh Weightogo, you poor thing, what an awful situation for you. I dont even know what to say to you except, do you want this little baby? if you do, you're gonna have to change your partners mind, sorry I cant be more positive, I feel so sorry for you. -

Hi Shoes, you sound just like me. When I had the de-fill I had 6.5 mls in and it was a nightmare, but the weight did come off pretty fast. Freddy started with a couple of mls and got me back up to 6.25 in 2 visits. I went on 8th and Chris put in another .25 now I am back to where I started when it was very tight. It varies from day to day, like last night I was doing that horrible cough that wakes you up and you have to get rid of it. Was up with the birds at 5:30 am being sick, then slept till 11. I can put up with it cos I know its only for a couple of months. Not too sensible on my part but i just want it over with if you understand. It doesnt feel as tight as it did last time I had 6.5mls in...strange isnt it. Good luck to all the girlies going soon, you wont ever look back. I often see big people around and feel like suggesting a band to them, but of course you cant do that, I would have hated it if some stranger had done that to me. Would have found it pretty insulting but I just feel so sad for them. -
