Freckles replied to susanlondon's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Thanx for that Maggs, maybe try something new then. Different meds suit different people dont they. But i will try anything if it gets rid. Last night I didnt have any reflux at all, after the little fill. -

Lovely to see you Maggs, what you like with your 6 week holidays, you are soooo lucky, I am really envious. I saw Freddyboy yesterday for a 0.25 fill, and it doesnt even seem very tight, yet last year at this point I was like you and having the cough and acid reflux at night. He told me to see my GP, if it starts again and recommended Mexiam. Did a BIT of Googling and came up with this....Nexium (Esomeprazole) so maybe thats what they're called in the UK, not sure but hopefully the doc will. I will most certainly be trying those if GP will prescribe, because its the most nastiest thing when you're trying to sleep. I'm also the same havent lost anymore weight, in fact had put on a few pounds when he weighed me !!! If I hadnt had the defill when I went away last year I prolly would be at target now Anyway now to start over...and I have a wedding and a christening in the next few weeks, so gawd help me. Dont forget your friends here Maggs we miss you hunny xxx -

Slinky you are becoming an expert here and so much help to others, I thank you for that. I just want you all to know that its not as bad as you think it will be, from my experience, though I wasnt banded in Belgium. I was banded in Southampton Bupa by Michael Van den Bossche the first time in 2005. In 2007 the band developed a leak and in 2009 I was re-banded by Michael ( had to pay again, at a reduced price and a free band from the manufacturer). The surgery took a little longer the second time because of the removal of the damaged band, and my port area was very sore, because the surgeon had to remove scar tissue where the band had attached itself, to my internal organs. However I would go through this again if this one failed (God forbid). It was worth all of the discomfort and anxiety, and you will all be fine and afterwards will wonder why you were worried. Dont forget girls/guys this is keyhole surgery, not a major operation, dont build it up to be worse than it actually is. I never want to be a fatty again and now I have the tools to ensure that I wont be, its like a miracle, so keep thinking positive cos you wont ever look back. I hope that helps you people, and good luck, not that you'll need it. -

I'm off the see Freddyboy in manchester this afternoon. I need a tiny bit of a fill, cos I can eat almost anything and have put on 2 to 4 lbs since my last de-fill. I just wish we could get it right for me to be at my sweet spot. Its driving me crazy, I'm hungry all the time, of course most of it is in my head, but you try telling your stomach that!!!! -

I hope all you newbies meet up in Belgium and are supportive of each other. I understand what you girlies are saying about the 25bmi being low and that the people could lose it on their own. My daughter is 32, and ever since she was a teenager she has practically starved herself to keep to a size 12. She does have blow outs though, but she is now at the end of her tether, she's sick and tired of constantly being on a diet. I can sympathise with her, maybe cos I'm biased, maybe not, but what kind of a way is that to live? She has good will power (unlike me) but now she feels that she needs help, and I'm sure there are a lot of people like her. She needs to stay on diets to keep to a size 12, if she eats normally, then she puts on weight, I think its in the genes, sadly. -

I've heard of Dr Marc, I'm sure I spoke to a lady in Manchester fills, she said he was the only surgeon around atm that would fit Bands if you only had a 25 bmi. She had dieted all her life to stay slim and was sick of it, so he is the fella to see apparently. I remember thinking about my size 12 daughter who has a BMI of 25 and wants a band for the same reason. Good on Vanessa. -

Sher, you dont need to take the stockings they are provided the by the hospital, I believe its to prevent DVT setting it. The same as the flight stockings -

Ahh thanx Slinky, you are a sweetheart, but I've still got to lose another 2 stone to be at a comfy weight. My stockings were white hun, but I was banded in the Bupa Southampton, so not sure about Dr Chris's. Someone will confirm for you I'm sure. You could always buy your own if you're worried, cos they're only flight socks. -

Sounds like you're a bit over-filled Scoobs, thats how I was. Try eating a little later in the day, sometimes I couldnt eat until lunchtime, and could never eat egg, well just the yolk, of a poached or boiled egg, but never scrambled hun. I think after each fill, you have to try everything before you find what you can eat, cos every little bit of saline, changes everything, or maybe thats just me. -

Lindsay, I think the liquids thing is to ease your band in to accepting food, not too sure though and it certainly helps tighten it (from personal experience). I drink fizzy stuff, but sometimes it backs up, I dont know if it does any harm to the band, nobody has ever said it does. I cant see how it would really, but maybe someone else knows? You deserve the drinks at the weekend, you are being soo good!!! I have read that a couple of drinks actually helps you to lose weight. Sorry I cant be of more help hunny, I'm sure someone else can. -

I think the shoulder pain you refer to is trapped wind. Have you tried Remegel hunny? Different things work for different people, maybe a visit to your GP would be more fruitful. I didnt get that, so sorry I cant help more, but I know a lot of people on here had it really bad. -

Hello Neennicole, welcome!! Dr Chris recommends a low fat diet for the 2 weeks, in order to shrink your liver. You may also want to buy some Milk Thistle pills which are great for cleansing the liver. Good luck hunny. -

Jo, if you were at your sweet spot, the food wouldnt pass through your band that fast hunny. Think of like this, you no longer have your normal size stomach, you now have a smaller version, so the food should stay in it until your stomach digests it just like it used to when you had your big one, if that makes sense. So if its passing through then you havent got enough restriction yet. Remember that lady from Ireland that was in the waiting room with us last time, she endorsed that when I suggested thats what it should be like. ( collagen lips) You should be able to eat anything albeit in small portions, thats what Michael told me anyway, but I do steer clear of bread, like yourself its painful, as are chips. I cant eat thick soup either, which is weird. Anyway good luck everyone with the weight losses. Well done Paul and Garry on your fabulous weight loss. Jo a kilo = 2.2lbs lol. I always weigh in kilos myself. -
