Blossom Bariatrics...dinner options while in Vegas
BSNJ replied to kswartz925's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am in the Hyatt now. Having surgery on Monday. I felt safe regarding covid with all aspects of this trip (airport, hotel and Blossom). Blossom has a great program. They really care about each patient. -
Anyone for August 2020
BSNJ replied to MotivatedMomma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi. I was scheduled with Blossom for vsg on Aug 20th, but got a call last week about a cancellation. New surgery date is Monday, 10th. All tests completed and just in the hotel now for 2 days waiting for monday to arrive. Blossom has a great program and really take care of everything you will need. I hope to be able to update you monday or tuesday. If anyone has a specific question, please reach out to me. -
Thank you for sharing your experience. Tomorrow is 4 weeks from when I leave NJ to Vegas. Glad to hear you don't have to walk during the flight home. My flight home leaves at 11 pm. Only non stop I could get. I didn't want to bother people walking up and down the aisle during the flight. I will remember to buy water before I get on the plane.

Thank you so much for writing about your experience with Blossom. I have 4 weeks to go for my surgery. I am nervous and excited.

Thanks Your personal take on the process will be helpful. Others have said to pack protein shakes and protein water. The hotel is not near any shopping area you can walk to. Also, who wants to walk in the Vegas heat. I wasn't going to check my bag for the flight. Once I heard about taking an Uber to Target or Walmart for supplies, I figured it is easier to just pack them and check my bag. My fear would be that the stores may not have the flavors I like. There is enough to worry about for this trip. I also decided not to take a friend with me. With Covid, they are not allowed at Blossom or the surgery ctr. They would be stuck in the hotel room the entire time. That is also a lot time to ask someone to take off of work. Blossom will provide a companion for me for the night of the surgery. They will make sure I walk during the night. Two things I constantly hear - walk as much as possible to remove the gas and sip, sip, sip so you stay hydrated. I am sure the rest of the time I will want to sleep. I will be thinking of you next week and hope all goes well for you.

I will update all once I get home. I am grateful for all who post helpful ideas.

I am having my VSG at Blossom in Las Vegas in mid August. It is less than 6 weeks away. Getting nervous, but very excited.
-
I am going to Blossom mid August. Similar to you, I am traveling cross country from NJ. My biggest concern is the 5 hr flight and then a 2 hr car ride home. I have 6 weeks until I leave. I will let you know how things go.
-
Hope all went well. Please up us on your Blossom experience. I am going mid August. I am concerned flying from the east coast with covid on the rise.

Beginning BMI 35 or under
BSNJ replied to 1GardenGirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My BMI is 35. With my insurance, I need to have a BMI of 40+. The only thing my bariatric doctor suggested was a balloon in my stomach for 6 months. After that time, the balloon would be removed. The balloon would be out of pocket. Cost $7000. In mid August I am going to Blossom Bariatric in Las Vegas for VSG. It is out of pocket, but covers hotel stay, testing, ground tranportation and surgery. Check out their website and reviews. -
Hope all went well. When you are up to it, let me know how Blossom was. Also, how was your flight home? I am also travelling from the east coast in mid August to Blossom. A little concerned about the increased cases of Covid occurring.
-
Thanks for the update. Every review I hear about Blossom confirms I am going to the right place. My only real issue is flying from the east coast. My surgery isn't until mid August so things may change.
-
Good luck this week. I am scheduled with Blossom for mid August. My biggest concern is flying with Covid cases on the rise. When you are up to it, update us on your experience.
-
I am from NJ and no bariatric doc would take me because my BMI is 35. The only thing they would offer is a balloon in my stomach. After six months it is removed. Insurance does not cover that procedure. I researched out of pocket sites and found Blossom Bariatrics in Las Vegas. I have insurance, but would not qualify for 100% coverage. I am paying 9k out of pocket. I am scheduled for the sleeve in mid August. My concern now is flying with covid cases rising.
-
Hope all went well. When you are up to it, can you up us on your experience with Blossom and you experience with flying. I am scheduled for mid August and leaving from the east coast. With Covid cases rising, i have concerns. Thanks
-
Hope all went well. When you have a chance, update your experience with Blossom Bariatric. I am scheduled for August. I am also travelling from the east coast. I am worried about airports and the flight home after the surgery.

New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus, NJ
BSNJ replied to PSquared_vsg's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Not familar with facility, but my daughter had gastric bypass 10 years ago with Dr. Gritsus. Her surgery was at Chilton in Pompton Lakes. She has kept off her 110 weight loss to date. Dr. G was helpful and kind throughout the process. She was only 21 at the time of her surgery. I would recommend him as a surgeon. -

Were there any issues with covid - airline, hotel or surgical site? Not sure if the site is open due to Covid. -

I am from NJ and seriously thinking about going to Blossom. My insurane does cover weight loss surgery, but only with a BMI of 40. Not sure how much would be covered by my insurance. -
